When Penelope’s ex doesn’t get the hint that it’s over between them, and decides she needs a little more force to understand, she take matters into her own hands and hires an Alpha to protect her. With Ethan being the head of Security at The Haven, his place is established, but the little omega looking for help stirs his protective instincts, and he can’t stand the thought of anyone else being … else being alone with her.
When her ex pulls an unexpected stunt, instinct takes over, but Ethan is left responsible for the mess and Penelope has to find a way to save him from the consequences.
This is an omegaverse romance set in an AU/Dystopian society. This book is a slow-burn with explicit scenes meant for a mature audience that contains violence, kidnapping and other triggers. While technically a dark romance, this is more a shade of grey than true dark. This is a stand-alone, with a HEA, though characters and locations from the previous story are mentioned.

I really enjoyed this book by Leann Ryans. It’s the second book the series and the characters are just as strong and compelling, as in the first book. I really liked Penny and Ethan. Penny is an endearing character and her only mistake in life was going out with a controlling Alpha-wannabe. Ethan is a strong and seriously sweet Alpha.
This book took me on some twists that I did not see coming. A really great addition to the series, I can’t wait to read the next book in this Omegaverse world.
No spoilers of any kind included!
So all I’m going to say about Hired to Protect is I thought it was absolutely amazing and I’m going to leave it at that because if I say anymore I’ll be giving away all the surprises that’s hidden within this story.
Leann Ryans has definitely gotten me hooked on her work with the way she weaves her stories.
She’s put herself onto my favorite authors list and is quickly working her way to the number one slot on my favs list.
So yep I’m going to say it’s a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend this book because I loved it and I think you will too!
I loved the second book in this series. She has put a great spin on omegaverse, with a spunky independent omega and an alpha who has been trained to be in control of his actions at all times. In a society that believes Alphas are dangerous and are kept in camps unless they have been chosen for specific jobs, as the head of security for an agency Ethan is selected by Penny to be her bodyguard. It’s a great read with just enough angst and trouble and heat between the two to keep you turning the page. Can’t wait for the next book!
I love this Omegaverse that Leann has created! Leann writes engaging and suspenseful stories that always leave you wanting more.
This story is about an Omega being stalked by her ex. She hires an alpha from The Haven for protection and things just go from there. The end up in one of the rooms used for stud service and a few days later, Ethan is arrested.
Can’t wait for the next in the series!
I seriously love this different take on Omegaverse! This is a great addition to the first book in the series! There is some references to the first book but you could probably read this one with out reading the first.
This one starts out with Penelope running from a stalker and getting hurt. She gets rescued by an older Alpha who is already mated. Him and his mate help her out after. And help with the police report.
Penelope gets a threating note pished under her door after she gets home from the accident. It freaks her out. But she is tired of being scared and running from her ex all the time so she goes to the police. But they can’t do anything except give her a restraining order and a slip to get an Alpha bodyguard. And Penelope decides that is the best idea she can think of. Maybe an Alpha guard will scare her ex away enough that he will finally leave her alone. But there is instant attraction between her and her Alpha bodyguard. So he may be able to protect her from her ex but who will protect her from him!
Once again, this author has taken a unique approach with this omegaverse romance. I found it to be an enjoyable, intriguing & suspenseful read. The world building & descriptions are extremely good with a well-paced, written plot, it definitely kept my attention. The characters have unique personalities & continue to develop throughout a well-paced story-line. There is good support from some of the secondary characters.
There is: a female omega (Penelope) experiencing some problems with a persistent beta ex (Adrian) decides to hire a alpha (Ethan) From “The Haven” but some complications occur & there are consequences now Penelope will have to help him, twists & turns, suspense, intrigue, drama, threats, danger, assault, abduction, drugs, heat issues, bonding, false accusations, confinement, violence, hope, steamy scenes & a interesting happy conclusion. I would recommend this book.
The second book in ‘The Hired Series’ has Penelope, former girlfriend of wannabe Alpha, Adrian, getting hurt as she tries to escape from him again. Advised by the officer she reports her attack to that she can hire a bodyguard, she goes to The Haven and hires Ethan who is permitted to live with her in order to protect her. It is a new situation for them both and each learn about the other while living and working together. When Adrian attacks again, Ethan is forced to fight for Penelope and one thing leads to another.
Sexy, passionate and as with the first book, a bit of a thriller too. There is a nod to the first book although it wouldn’t spoil a reader’s enjoyment if they hadn’t read ‘Hired to Heat’. Great characters, believable situations and a HEA which comes as a relief after the tension.
This story is just as amazing as the first in the series was. The world building is amazing and the character development is top notch. It is very easy to slip into the story and become invested in the characters. Ethan and Penny have a believable relationship that is steamy and cautious at the same time. The story has all the excitement, drama, tension, passion, action, and intrigue you could ask for and it kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I hope to see many more stories set in this dystopian world.
I really really like this M/F Omegaverse and the dynamic presented so I was really looking forward to this second book. The author does not disappoint at all! Penelope is what a lot of others want to see in a strong Omega. She’s smart and kind of sassy in her own way, yet her profession allows her to show all of her Omega nurturing traits. Ethan is a strong and protective Alpha yet he’s quite sweet. The dynamic switch in this book has him cautious yet respectful of the ways that exist in this universe. I love the easy banter and the chemistry between the two. All the hotness just from the ongoing conversation between them. I got a good laugh at the mentioned of some of the other M/F Omegaverse books. Really good book and highly recommended for anyone who thinks some of the other M/F Omegaverse are a little too dark. This series is much lighter on the scale but still have all the hot, sexy goodness of the M/F Omegaverse.
