“I wasn’t ready for this. Hannah deserved a man who was whole, not a broken shell. But I couldn’t resist her. Couldn’t resist this. It felt too good. And would that be so bad? To have something that felt good for once?”Leo Miles came home broken—wounded and scarred. It’s been five years, and he hasn’t left his family’s land. Not once. It’s not much of a life, but the way he looks now, he prefers … way he looks now, he prefers to stay hidden.
His only reprieve is her voice. He puts on his headset, logs in to his game, and she’s there. They talk while they play, sharing everything but personal details. She’s his best friend—his happy place—even though he doesn’t know her real name.
Until one day, he hears a voice he recognizes.
Meeting Hannah Tate in person rocks the reclusive Leo’s world. And discovering she’s in trouble—serious trouble—changes everything.
Hannah is Leo’s every fantasy come true. And the badass gamer girl is determined to break through his defenses. But between the mess that is his life, and the threats to his family’s safety, he can’t be anyone’s hero. Least of all hers.
But maybe they both need saving.
Author’s note: A wounded hero who’ll squeeze your heart. A girl in trouble. And the family who won’t let either of them down.
The Miles Family is best enjoyed in order.

I knew that Leo’s story was going to be something special, but Claire Kingsley absolutely smashed any expectations or thoughts that I had about what was going on with our reclusive hero. From the first words in this story, I was hooked. I couldn’t stop reading. I was literally was on the edge of my seat, page after page, as I just had to know what was going to happen with Leo & Hannah. And all of it was truly perfect!! I absolutely loved seeing how their friendship blossomed into love, and watching Leo come alive once again. Gah! My heart just fell in love with both of them.
And of course, we had Cooper…….and well, he was Cooper. Wouldn’t have that guy any other way!
For those who have read this series, I won’t say too much other than you are going to be blown away by this story. It’s truly what we’ve all been waiting for since book 1. And if you haven’t – what are you waiting for? Go read Broken Miles and the rest of the series now and enjoy falling in love with this amazing and wonderful family!
Absolutely exceptional! A six star phenomenal read! A heart melting, swoon worthy, tear jerking story. Hidden Miles is the fourth book in the Miles Family series, and it quickly became my favorite. I was emotionally invested in this story and the hero and heroine.
Where do I even start with this review, this is by far my absolute favorite book by Claire Kingsley, and I have loved all her previous books. Yes Hidden Miles is THAT good! Although it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the entire series, you won’t be disappointed.
First I have to say this because I just have to get it out there. As of recently I thought that Copper was going to be my favorite Miles and there was no way C. Kingsley was going to write a character I would love more than Cooper, well I was so wrong. Leo Miles stole my heart!!
Leo Miles is an introvert, a gaming nerd, a homebody. But Leo wasn’t always that way, before serving overseas he was just as outgoing and charming as they come. While serving his country he was severely injured and returned home to heal, only to be locked away on his family’s land for years. Leo believes he is broken, and not just on the outside. He truly believes he will never have a normal life and has accepted his fate. The only person who gets the real Leo is his best friend, his gamer buddy, the girl who he pines after but will never meet.
Hannah is young and a little naive, she loses herself in video games. In the virtual world she gets to be the person she wishes she could be in real life, strong, brave, and powerful. Hannah doesn’t realize she’s already all those things until she needs to fight for her life, and not in the video games she plays. Hannah, a lot like Leo, find solace in hearing the sound of each others voices through a headset. She knows her gaming buddy, her best friend, will never let her in. At least not in real life, not like she would like.
When a series of events leads them to each other in real life, they are both at a loss as to what to do. The years they have spent talking through their headsets immediately brings a sense of home and comfort. But boy is it a struggle. Both Hannah and Leo have a lot to learn, not only from each other but from living their best lives.
C. Kingsley wrote an epic romance novel! Leo and Hannah had me swooning and wanting to cry at the same time. Their relationship morphed into something dreams are made of. They fought and got angry but more than anything they loved, fiercely. I was blown away by how much my emotions were invested in Leo and Hannah. This was a truly amazing piece of work!
5+ exceptional stars!
I have been waiting on Leo’s book ever since the first Miles family book came out. I knew that it would take a special kind of woman to love Leo.
I finished reading this book a few days ago and had to think about what to write. How to get my feelings out on this book. This book was everything. It made me laugh (can we say Cooper Miles?), it made me cry. It had me so mad I wanted to step through the pages and smack people. It made me fall in love. When i read the books in this series I thought from the beginning that Cooper Miles was the book boyfriend for me until I read this book and got to know Leo Miles. The man who’s body is damaged and because of this his soul is hurt far beyond where those he loves can reach. Claire Kingsley takes us on a journey of Leo finding love and him starting to come back to life. In this book, we also meet Hanna, a woman Leo meets while gaming, the woman who is his best and only friend. The woman he meets in real life and falls for, the woman he can’t get out of his head. I loved all of the characters in this book and I loved how Claire took some heavy obstacles and handled them with care. This may be my favorite book by this author to date.
Hidden Miles is the fourth book in the Miles Family series featuring Leo Miles, the broken, wounded and scarred hero and Hannah Tate, the woman who helps him come out of the darkness. This well written romance story is filled with heartache, humor, witty banter, some drama, off-the-charts chemistry, family, angst, suspense, lots of emotions, some steamy scenes, love, and of course a HEA.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
4.5 Stars
I really enjoyed this story. As we have gotten to know Leo in the other books it has been clear that he loved his family and was a good person, he just had internal scars that were worse than his external scars. In Hannah we have the perfect person to help him heal and see that life is worth living again.
Leo Miles!
Much like Cooper I wanted to give him as many ” emotional jumper cable ” sessions as he needed!
Talk about a throw down of emotional torment, life-altering high stakes, a kindle melting connection, and the love and laughter only the Miles family can provide.
GAH!
What a phenomenal story, I have been fascinated with Leo from the very start, getting this in-depth look into his dark and tormented life, and what he is willing to do for the ones he loves. What his family is willing to do for him- that would be enough of a story right there, add in the beautifully sweet, awkward, full on alpha meets hotter than the sun feels that zing between Gigz ( aka Hannah ) and Badger ( aka Leo ) and it’s a book I could read again and again.
An absolute stellar storyline that deserves more than 5 stars Claire Kingsley continues to amaze me each and every time with the number of emotions that roll through me and how much more I love all the characters by the end book!
A must read!
Leo Miles is my kyptonite. A wounded vet isolating himself because he doesn’t feel worthy of love. SIGN ME UP! Boy was he worth the wait. I loved the fact that Hannah and Leo had years of friendship, although they haven’t met in person. When they do……fireworks. With the help of Hannah and the truly fantastic Miles clan (Cooper was especially amazing), Leo’s true personality overrides any walls that he may have built around himself. His and Hannah’s road to HEA was not a smooth one, but that just makes it all that much sweeter in the end.
No More Hiding
When Claire Kingsley writes a story there’s no doubt in my mind I’m going to love it. Leo Miles is no different. Leo is the mysterious middle Miles brother who’s keep our minds boggling with his truth. His story was SO WORTH THE WAIT. To be honest, I didn’t have solid expectations for this story aside from it’s going to be amazing. But, Kingsley blew me away and left me speechless! There were moments my mouth dropped and I shut my kindle like whoa, no, whaaat! Then there’s that camaraderie of the Miles family that leaves you feeling all warm inside and making you wish you were apart of the family. I won’t lie, being inside Leo’s head broke my heart at times with the unworthiness he felt for himself. Then in walks Hannah who changes everything he thought he knew and felt. I love Hannah’s strength and her heart and fire. Her and Leo were absolutely perfect for each other. Leo was not only the savior but found himself being saved. Hidden Miles left my heart warm and my eyes teary with its absolute beauty in the power of love and its ability to save you when you least expect it. I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
There are not enough words to even begin to tell you what Claire Kingsley has done with Hidden Miles, book four in the Miles Family Series. I’ve always enjoyed Claire’s writing but this book..THIS BOOK..it’s everything you could want out of a story. The emotional rollercoaster that Claire takes us on, from the lighthearted, fun and hilarious moments to the pain that both the hero and heroine feel, well, it’s simply just the best thing I’ve ever read. Both the hero and heroine were nothing like what I expected them to be, they were truly so much more and I loved every single moment of their journey. The author has completely outdone herself with this story of friendship, finding courage within yourself and most importantly, family. I truly loved Hidden Miles and I highly suggest reading the ENTIRE series!
I cannot put into words how much this book touched my heart! I cannot put my finger on just one thing, it seemed to be the whole book, from start to finish!
Leo is an injured ex-soldier, he lives in a cottage on his family winery and rarely leaves his house. He has not stepped foot past the property boundaries since coming back broken and scarred!
Hannah is in a relationship that she doesn’t want to be in but can’t seem to get out of, she is scared and wants to move on, but how?
Leo and Hannah have one thing in common, they love gaming and become friends whilst playing with each other online. She tells him a lot, he tells her little. During a wedding reception at the winery Leo hears a voice he recognises, but knows he can’t approach her, mainly because she is with her boyfriend, but also because he doesn’t mix with people he doesn’t know!
Hannah is put in an impossible situation by her boyfriend so decides to leave, without thinking she ends up at the winery and in Leo’s cottage!
What follows is a truly wonderfully written story, of family love, protection and a closeness that few families have. Claire Kingsley has captured the torture that PTSD sufferers and those that love them go through perfectly, drawing the reader in with the pain that comes with it, but also the happiness that can be found when they find someone to love them unconditionally.
5 million beautifully broken stars!!! This book is amazing. Leo is everything and he doesn’t even know it!!! This book will take you on a beautiful journey. It’s emotional, anguish, acceptance, growth, holy sexy hotness, humor, love. EVERYTHING!!!!!
Claire has the uncanny ability to make me feel every emotion (sometimes all at once!) while reading her books and Hidden Miles is no exception. Every chapter had me simultaneously wanting this story to never end but also deeply excited to see Leo and Hannah get their HEA. I hope you’re hydrated, have snacks ready, and let the kids know they are on their own for dinner because once you start reading this book you won’t want to stop!
The use of technology to build an emotional connection between Leo and Gigz (aka Hannah) is brilliant, and makes their fateful real world meeting even more meaningful. With Leo’s physical scars and fear of leaving the winery and being around people it was the most believable way to have him accept Hannah in his life. This does not mean an instant cure for him though and I love how Claire is respectful of this in regards to his PTSD and agoraphobia. But don’t you worry; there is plenty of passion and heat between the two of them I’m shocked my kindle didn’t burst into flames! Having a deep friendship develop before they are intimate gave them plenty of opportunities to discuss some things that will NOT disappoint you once they happen. Leo is intense and focused is all areas of his life and it was magic to read about.
Hannah is a complex character in her own right, she is smart and strong but unfortunately like a lot of woman in this world she has let outside forces bring her down. Connecting with Leo in the real world gives her the push she needs to take back her control, and although there are some bumps and bruises along the way she fights for everything she deserves. Even though Leo thinks he is too damaged for her I loved how she found her inner strength again by being there for him and fighting for the love they both needed.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Miles family book without hearing from the rest of the gang, so don’t worry there are plenty of Cooperisms, girl bonding, life advice from the wisest of the bunch, and a piece of bedroom furniture may or may not be sacrificed! Closure is found in regards to some unpleasant problems that have been weighing the family down and the future is looking bright for everyone.
The conclusion to the Miles Family series, well, wait a minute. It’s not really the end, I’ll explain later. Okay, so Leo. Hidden Miles is the perfect title for Leo. He’s been hiding on his family vineyard for five years. He returns home scarred from his military service and refuses to leave his family’s land. All throughout the series you understand that he is damaged not just physically but somewhere deep inside. He lives in his gaming world for the most part and this is where he meets a fellow female gamer and she lights up his dull existence.
Hannah is floundering in her own way and turns to gaming as a refuge from her everyday routine. She is in need of a real life escape. Then gaming and reality collide. She becomes a catalyst of sorts for Leo to fight back his demons. These two set off fireworks from the get go. As each start to find their footing they start to realize what actual happiness looks like. And my favorite Miles, Cooper, comes into play by trying to lend advice. Gotta love Cooper although he needs to stick to nicknames.
The underlying story of Larwence Miles, aka ‘worst father of the century’, gets closure. Also, we see more of the rest of the family and how their lives are progressing. Plus Shannon makes a major announcement. See, not really the end because she deserves her happily ever after as well.
This book has it all……love, hate, suspense, kink, Cooper – yes, he’s still my favorite – and the all important HEA. I just wish the Miles had some gorgeous cousins so Claire would continue the series. Amazing and fully recommend.
Hidden Miles was one of my highly anticipated reads of 2019, and Claire Kingsley did not let me down. We meet Leo in book 1 of the series and your empathy for his reclusive character grows with each book. Now we finally get some insight into the thoughts, and feeling of this all-american boy that returned home a wounded war hero. Your heart will ache and squeeze at the reactions Leo has to the outside world and the reactions that the outside world has to him. Enter Hannah who is also bruised and damaged in an entirely different way. After knowing each other’s voices for years these two are brought together and I can not think of a better champion for either of them. This book is about the pain of two wounded characters and how they begin to mend each other. It is thoughtful, insightful, and overall just beautifully written. Every single book of this series is fantastic but this one has that something special and has claimed its spot as my favorite of the series.
Its no secret that Claire Kingsley is one of my favorite authors. And I have loved every book in the Miles Family series. But I was REALLY anticipating Leo’s story the most. What made him tick? We knew he was an injured war vet, but what had happened? Would he ever leave the family’s winery?
Outside of his family, the only person Leo socializes with is his online gaming buddy, Gigz. Needless to say, he’s shocked when he hears her voice at a wedding reception being held at the family winery. He’s even more shocked when Gigz later tells him that she had an intense reaction to a Beast-like guy she saw at the winery. But Leo is so stunned that she found him attractive, the poor guy can’t speak up. The scene where he talks to Cooper is so sweet, my heart ached for Leo!
When fate intervenes and puts Hannah back at The winery, it’s hysterical that Coop is the one she runs into first. But it’s not a happily ever after for Leo and Hannah, because girlfriend has major situation she needs to extract herself from. With Leo’s help, she does… and the former soldier gets to play hero in the best possible way. With his awesome brothers behind him, naturally!
I love the slow burn between Hannah and Leo after that, once they become roommates. He is so tortured, and doesn’t think he deserves to be happy. Hannah breaks down all of his defenses, little by little, and brings Leo out of the darkness. In more ways than one. They are so perfectly matched, and I was so happy to see Leo step out of the shadows (not just with Hannah, but to protect his family as well) and get a well-deserved HEA.
Hidden Miles was everything I wanted to see happen for also, and more. All of my questions about Leo’s past were answered, and the throughline story of father Lawrence and what he’s done to the family was wrapped up in an awesome way. I’m so glad that Claire is kicking off her next series with half-sister Grace and giving Ben and Sharon a story, because I don’t want to say goodbye to this wacky family!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Beautiful story about Leo Miles, an injured Veteran with extreme PTSD and agoraphobia and his online gaming friend Hannah. The way they meet and fall in love is unusual. The relationship they develop is
life changing for them both. I loved this book so much that I couldn’t put it down. Stayed up until after 2 am to finish it. I fell in love with both of them.
I knew Leo’s book was going to be special but I had no idea how special it would be.
Leo Miles is a broken man. Inside and out, he is scarred and hurting. He hides on his family’s property, online gaming his only window to the outside world. Playing games allows him to take a brief break from the heartbreak of real life and gives him a chance to talk to his best friend, Gigz. Leo doesn’t know anything about her, even her real name but her beautiful voice comes to him each night, allowing him to laugh, to breath, to be normal.
This book is so beautiful. There are so many Moments (yes, with a capital M). First meeting, first kiss, first bonfire that will stay with me. As soon as I finished I wanted to go back to the beginning and start again.
Hidden Miles is the fourth of the Miles Family series. It can totally be read alone but the entire series is fantastic!! I am looking forward to the next novella!
If you are like me you have been waiting for Leo’s story since book one of the Miles Family Series. Along the way we have received glimpses of Leo…The brother. The son. The ex-soldier who suffers from extreme PTSD-induced anxiety. The beautiful, broken, scarred man who hides himself away from the world and submerges himself in the safety of his families vineyard. The man who feels like he is less than; broken, disfigured and not worthy of love. He finds solace in the world of on-line gaming. In that virtual world, he isn’t a disfigured man. He is the person he wants to be, the person he is on the inside even though his outside didn’t reflect that. And in that virtual world, he mets Gigz. She doesn’t know him as Leo Miles, he is simply Iron Badger, or Badge. A kickass gamer and her friend. Their online connection is free, easy and comfortable. Not only for Leo, but for Gigz. Gigz, AKA Hannah, is a women looking for an escape too. But when their virtual world and real life collide, will either of them be prepared for what comes next? Will Hannah be able to break down the carefully constructed walls that Leo has built and soothe his soul and allow him to receive love? Will the ghosts of Hannah’s past allow her to open herself up to this deep, broody, haunted man? Claire Kingsley has delivered a perfectly crafted story of friendship, love and hope. The whole Miles clan makes an appearance in this fabulously engrossing read. You will laugh (ummmm because have you meet Cooper Miles?!?!?!?), your heart will break, you will want to scream, you will want a hug and you will root for Leo’s HEA every step of the way. 5+ stars!!!!
Hidden Miles is book four in the Miles Family series by Claire Kingsley. If you have read any of the books in this series and gotten to know the Miles siblings, then just like me, you’ve been waiting for Leo’s story. Claire was right in saving Leo’s story for last. I believe that Leo is the most unforgettable. Well, he might be neck and neck with Cooper, because, well, Cooper.
It’s been five years since Leo returned home. Since he was severely burned in an explosion while serving overseas. Leo came home a broken man, both on the outside, and on the inside. His scars are both visible, and invisible. Since Leo returned home, he has never left. It’s been five years and Leo has not put one foot over the Miles Family property line.
Leo takes care of the technical side of their family winery. He takes care of their computers and handles all of the security. Leo also finds gaming calming. It’s an escape, a time when he can turn off everything else in his head. That’s where he met Gigz. He doesn’t know her real name, but her voice soothes him. They would sometimes play and talk for hours. Gigz knows Leo as Iron Badger. Leo found himself looking forward to the time they spent online playing. Then one day the unimaginable happened. There was a wedding at their winery and as he was skirting around the guests, he heard her voice. There was no mistaking it, it was her. And she was breathtaking.
Hannah Tate was twenty seven years old and her life was a mess. She was in a bad relationship but didn’t know how to get out of it. She worked from home and didn’t have any friends. The time she looked forward to most was when she was on line gaming with her friend Iron Badger. They had some sort of a connection which was strange because she had no idea who he was or what he even looked like. When Hannah has to accompany her boyfriend to a wedding at a winery, she sees a man across the room and she is instantly drawn to him. Every part of her wakes up and takes notice. But then he’s gone, almost like he was never there at all. Like she imagined him.
When Hannah needs help, she is drawn back to that winery and soon discovers that the man she saw was the same man she has been listening to in her head set for years, Iron Badger. Leo can’t believe she is there and now selfishly, he doesn’t ever want her to leave.
“I was too broken to love her. I was too broken to love anyone.”
Hannah and Leo’s bond grows stronger but Leo doesn’t feel worthy of her. He’s scarred and broken. She deserves everything and he doesn’t have anything to give. Hannah knows Leo wants her as much as she wants him. She’s determined to wear down his resistance and wear him down she does. Leo hasn’t been with anyone since he came home. It’s been five years and let me tell you, Leo unleashed is a sight to behold. This man had so much passion bottled up. He is a dirty talking, sexalicious fantasy come true.
Things still aren’t safe at the Miles Winery. They are still dealing with the after math of their father’s dealings. Leo knows it wasn’t fair to drag Hannah into the middle of all of their crazy. But he can’t help himself.
I think I’ll stop here. There is so much more I want to say about these two but I don’t want to give too much away. What I will say is how amazed I was with Leo. Hannah just seemed to know how best to help him. He made so much progress. She was so good for him. And Hannah fell in love with all of the Miles family as they did her. But don’t think their paths were easy. They had plenty of obstacles to overcome. And you know Cooper is always there to brighten everyone’s day, or to keep them confused.
Hidden Miles is technically the end of this series. But Claire saved a huge surprise for us all. She has written a novella which will focus on Shannon Miles, the matriarch of the Miles family, and Ben called Gaining Miles. After everything Shannon has been through, will she finally get her own happily ever after? She certainly deserves it.
