“I wasn’t ready for this. Hannah deserved a man who was whole, not a broken shell. But I couldn’t resist her. Couldn’t resist this. It felt too good. And would that be so bad? To have something that felt good for once?”Leo Miles came home broken—wounded and scarred. It’s been five years, and he hasn’t left his family’s land. Not once. It’s not much of a life, but the way he looks now, he prefers … way he looks now, he prefers to stay hidden.
His only reprieve is her voice. He puts on his headset, logs in to his game, and she’s there. They talk while they play, sharing everything but personal details. She’s his best friend—his happy place—even though he doesn’t know her real name.
Until one day, he hears a voice he recognizes.
Meeting Hannah Tate in person rocks the reclusive Leo’s world. And discovering she’s in trouble—serious trouble—changes everything.
Hannah is Leo’s every fantasy come true. And the badass gamer girl is determined to break through his defenses. But between the mess that is his life, and the threats to his family’s safety, he can’t be anyone’s hero. Least of all hers.
But maybe they both need saving.
Author’s note: A wounded hero who’ll squeeze your heart. A girl in trouble. And the family who won’t let either of them down.
The Miles Family is best enjoyed in order.

This was the long anticipated 4th Miles Family Series installment. This was Leo Miles story. Leo is a veteran. He’s broken in a lot of ways, and, if you’ve read any of the Miles Family books, you know that Leo hasn’t left the winery property for years. He’s into video games and meets a woman on his video game that he describes as his best friend. These two meet each other IRL in a serendipitous moment. Hannah has her own issues that spiral out of control. There is a good amount of steamy scenes and scenes that make your heart break for Leo. I highly recommend this book.
5*
Leo has been gaming with gigz for years but never exchanged personal details etc so when he hears a voice he recognised at the winery he’s startled.
Hannah isn’t happy with Jace but can’t see a way out, she’s mesmerised by a man at the wedding they attend but can’t find him later. Who is he?
I’ve been looking forward to reading Leo’s story after meeting his character in previous books & boy did Claire do him justice a story told with compassion, emotions and the importance of family.
Im seriously hoping there is more from the family Shannon and Ben please?
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Loved it!
Like so many others who love the Miles family, I have been awaiting Leo’s story. I fell in love with the Miles family from the first book and I knew Leo was broken and had both physical and mental scars. I knew it would take a special girl to push him out of his self-exile…and along comes Hannah. This story is one of healing, hope and the power of love. Loving and being loved by someone can push you to do things you didn’t think you were capable of, it can mend wounds and it can heal scars. Leo’s story is a beautiful reminder that we are all deserving of love.
I love this series and just like other fans I have been waiting for Leo’s story. Well, I can definitely say it was worth the wait. Claire Kingsley really delivered with this one. Leo and Hannah’s story is a beautiful story about love, pain, grief, survival and how the power of love can heal. Their journey was not easy and had a lot of obstacles but both Leo and Hannah are survivors and it was an absolute pleasure to take this journey with them. Claire is such a fantastic writer that all of her characters have a depth about them. As a reader you bond with them and are drawn into their story where you are not only entertained, but are taken on a journey that will fill you with emotion and leave you wanting more.
Bravo Claire! Leo’s story was everything I had hoped for. Now I just need novella with Cooper and Amelia’s wedding because that would be hysterical.
I voluntarily read a digital ARC provided to me by the author. This review was not influenced by this and reflects my own thoughts and opinions.
This book was awesome. I haven’t sat down and read a whole book in one sitting in quite some time, but I did with this one. Leo and Hannah’s story was incredible and well worth the wait.
Broken and destroyed with scars over most of one side of his body, Leo has become a recluse – never leaving his family’s vineyard ans only making friends in the gaming world online. It takes one freak moment, hearing a voice that he has made a connection with during a game at a wedding at the vineyard to bring his emotions to the surface. One look across a garden makes him want more. But when her life comes crashing down and she reaches out for help can he break out of his comfort zone and leave the property? Can two broken people who have their own scars actually become whole when they are together? Can Leo let someone real in? With a storyline that had my emotions in overdrive this is another book from Claire Kingsley that you do not want to miss. You will fall in love with Leo and Hannah and want too read this book more than once.
I have been waiting and waiting for this book to release and it met every one of my expectations and beyond. Claire is a masterful writer who pulls you into her stories and makes you feel every emotion. Although it can be read as a stand-alone, Hidden Miles is book 4 and I do recommend that you start from the beginning and read them all. This series is about the Miles family who owns Salishan Cellars Winery in beautiful central Washington.
Each sibling is featured in their own unique story: Broken Miles (book 1), Forbidden Miles (book 2), Reckless Miles (book 3), and Hidden Miles (book 4). I love the clever book titles and cover art as each one perfectly reflects the characters in each story.
I can’t even begin to tell you how invested I am in this family and their journey together as well as each couple that is featured. I rarely read a book straight through, especially when it’s five hours long, but that’s what I do with a Claire Kingsley novel because I just can’t stop reading!
Hidden Miles features Leo, a wounded war veteran who lives on the family’s estate and serves as their head of security. You get glimpses of him in each of the previous books and just know what a gentle soul he is. Because of his disfigurement, he lives hidden in the shadows and mostly only speaks with his immediate family. Leo is amazing. He is brave, smart, talented, and so loyal to his county and those he loves. He has a great dry sense of humor and I especially love the banter between him and his siblings.
Leo, being a loner and a technical wizard, enjoys gaming and has been friends on-line for several years with a fellow gamer who goes by the nickname of Gigz. Hannah Tate knows him as Badger and even though they have never met, they have an undeniable connection and friendship. Leo is insecure because of his injuries yet longs for the time they get to spend together, even though it is just remotely.
He evades her suggestion of meeting in person, but when they do, their bond is so strong and their chemistry is off the charts! I don’t want to give away any spoilers but the way they meet is so romantic. He knows it’s her just from the sound of her voice. He is a hero in every way and goes out of his comfort zone to be with her and be the man she needs and is deserving of. Hannah was in an abusive relationship and is estranged from her parents, and I so admired how the Miles family rallied around to help and support her, no questions asked.
The entire Miles family is featured in this book and it’s like coming home. I love all of their conversations, how close they are, how they get into each other’s business, how they can laugh and cry together, and how they celebrate each other’s successes. They are so understanding and patient with Leo and Hannah, and you route for them to find their HEA the entire time. It’s not easy because each of them has baggage, but people aren’t perfect and I love how through her words, Claire makes you feel their every heartache, joy, and triumph.
When Leo is with Hannah he slowly lets down his guard and begins to feel worthy of her love. He is vulnerable and sweet, and I love all of their time together getting to know each other in real life, rather than behind the screen. These two are soul mates and even though they don’t always have it easy, they appreciate the simple things, and truly love and respect each other.
Hannah is so smart, strong and sassy. I love the chapter where she gets sexually frustrated and finally seduces him! She doesn’t see his scars, just the beautiful sexy man that she has fallen in love with. When Leo reacts badly to a certain situation, and has time alone to reflect on his life, he is finally able to see his own self worth and how his life is complete with Hannah by his side. During this time, I admire how Hannah handled the situation with courage and grace.
The Miles family is so close, not only physically, but emotionally as well. They embraced Hannah from the beginning, and I was glad when she reached out to her own parents to make amends. This book not only features strong family bonds and lots of romance, but is suspenseful and filled with angst as the family has been actively working on case involving Lawrence Miles, the absente father in this story who is the anti-hero. Using their superior technology skills, Hannah and Leo work together to take down the cartel which left me on pins and needles in awe of them both.
The epilogue in this book is my favorite chapter because it gives you a glimpse into their future. Everything ended as it was meant to be and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to read Shannon’s (Leo’s mom) story in book 5, Gaining Miles, as she is such a strong, independent, and wise woman whom her children and Ben, who also lives and works at Salishan Cellars Winery, adore.
On a side note: Kudos to Claire because this book is filled with information that is very realistic. She really did her research because she so easily and cleverly talks about video gaming, running a successful business including marketing and event planning, the FBI, undercover drug operations, being a war veteran with post-traumatic stress, domestic violence, Cooper being a bit ADHD, etc.
