Review by: Yumna Mahmood
The book, “Her Worst Mistake” is actually a book that highlights how wrong a woman like Amilia did and could do behind lust for a man like Michael and end up crying over her worst mistake which at time is submission to Michael and rejection to Troy’s proposal, her Ex.
Other important deed displayed by the characters namely, Rebecca and Troy is true friendship that is comforting during the tense situations Amelia has been experiencing.
A book packed with tragedy and friendship.
Vivid!
Amelia Baker runs away from Troy after having a miscarriage. She and her best friend, Rebecca, got to Vegas for a vacation. Amelia falls for Michael’s charms. Michael drugs Amelia and tells her they are married. Amelia does not remember much from the night before. Michael wants to use Amelia to hide from his criminal behaviors. I could not put this thriller down. I read it in one sitting.
This book kept me awake at night. Could not put it down. Relationships can be crazy
Another great Rosemary Run book
It is gripping but not believable.
This book was awful — stupid story, gratuitous violence, poorly written — feels like a high school student recommended it. Don’t waste your time.
I found this story to be too wordy and drawn out. I kept reading hoping for it to get better. The subject and story line got lost.
This book is about a woman who gets abducted by her husband in a popular restaurant in a small town. The woman is friends with a woman whose husband is a cop. The friend impulsively jumps in the back of the husband’s pickup truck along with another man to save her friend. The friend has her cell phone with her and her husband is able to track down the husband and wife.
Eh, pretty predicable. I’m glad it was a short quick read.
Strong characters
A suspenseful who done it with twists and turns that kept my attention and interest. I enjoyed the book right up to the last page and recommend it.
Her Worst Mistake – a review by Rosemary Kenny
A Rosemary Run Thriller series, Book 6, tells of disparate gal-pals Rebecca and Amelia, on holiday from rural town, Rosemary Run, in the bright-lights city of Las Vegas. Amelia gets involved with a man called Michael in a bar while drunk and from there on, her life flips into a nightmare of abuse and control, much worse than she’s ever known before.
Told in two intermingled timelines, (labeled on each chapter for clarity) over the course of a year, the story reveals how Rebecca tries to help her friend escape from the trap she’s existing in, at the mercy of a man who said he loved her, but is so jealous, violent and controlling, that she’s virtually a prisoner, ashamed to admit the truth to almost everyone.
Can Rebecca contrive to save Amelia’s life and sanity? What hold does Michael have over Amelia?
A desperate chase after an abduction by the man who pretended to love her, friends and residents of Rosemary Run and most of all her bravery, sees Rebecca hoping to save Amelia from a lifetime of pain and misery. A riveting, true-to-life tale of how self-worth can sometimes be absent and how true friends know us better than we know ourselves!
I usually refrain from giving reviews of books I don’t like, but since I was asked to rate the book by Book Bub (having obtained the book at no cost through their daily promotions), I will give my honest feelings. This book was so poorly written, I couldn’t believe it was actually sixth in a series. If the first books were as bad, I can’t imagine there would be an audience left for the following ones. The title and blurb caught my attention and I anticipated a thriller. It was anything but. I cannot even check one of the above boxes “what did you like about this book.” It was not compelling, not thrilling, not action-packed, and definitely not a page turner. It had a weak plot, trite cliches (“Michael’s charisma was off the charts”), uninteresting characters (the female protagonist—who is supposed to be an educated pediatric nurse—is portrayed as weak, completely unthinking, and helpless), a boring storyline, and was entirely unbelievable. I can forgive writing problems if the story is compelling, but this had problems on both counts. In several places, the author slipped from the past tense into the present tense almost within the same paragraphs. This is a sign of really sloppy writing and/or editing. I didn’t keep track of these tense slips and will not take the time to go back and look for them, but will just refer to Chapter 17, where I found this: (and it’s not even the most egregious case): ‘ “Leigh explained. “She doesn’t even keep it locked….” “You can say that again,” Rande says with a chuckle.’
I know Point of View changes are not as closely criticized today as in the past, but three point of view changes in two paragraphs is a bit much (Chapter 16: Jake, Michael, Amelia).
I had to force myself to finish the book, which thank heavens was a short read. There was only one thing I liked: the switch back and forth in the chapters from “Present Day” to “Back Then.” It added to the interest, but unfortunately this clever literary device was not enough to overcome all of the book’s other weaknesses. I would never recommend this book to anyone, and I would probably never read any of the other books in the series if this is an indication of what they are like. Sorry. I don’t like being unkind to any author, but …
Too short, with some embellishments this book could easily have been in the 250-300 of range
The scenarios in this book were totally not believable.
Really? Not at all what I expect from an author……terrible storyline.
Though it was a short read, I became engrossed and I wanted to deck Michael. Such an entitled, selfish, mean man!
The writing was not great.
Very detailed
