Loved thus series! Can’t wait for next installment. Other readers will give you detailed synopsis. I just think they are great reads.
Absolutely loved this book! Can’t wait for the rest of the trilogy! I bought this book because I love post apocalyptic books and because R. C. Bray is an excellent narrator! This is a great new apocalyptic twist! It’s set 250 years after WW3 and the last of humanity lives on airships diving to the planet’s surface for supplies.
For 250 years the Hell Divers had secured the nuclear fuel cells and supplies that kept the great airships afloat, and the airships were home to the last surviving members of the human race. Kept afloat by huge helium-filled bladders and guided by powerful turbans, the last two remaining airships flew above the lightning storms that covered much of the devastated landscape. All that was left by the bombs which destroyed the structures and covered the ground with deadly radiation was incapable of supporting human life. Only deadly deformed creatures survived on the inhospitable surface blasted by the powerful lightning storms also produced by the bombs dropped from the very airships currently used as the homes of humanity.
Truly a terrific backdrop for this amazing story. Unexpected plot twists keep the tale lively and the powerful characters burst into life and draw you into their lives sharing their pain and pleasure, pride and shame.
Xavier Rodriguez, ‘X’ to his friends and fellow Hell Divers, leads Team Raptor, one of the Hell Diver teams that jump from the “Hive”, their home airship, to the surface of the blasted Earth where they hope to find the supplies that kept humanity’s home afloat. X has survived 95 jumps. The average life expectancy of a Hell Diver was 15 jumps. His best friend and fellow HD, Aaron, and his son Michael, nicknamed ‘Tin’ for the tinfoil hat Aaron had sculpted for him, were his only friends. They might be the only thing keeping him from hitting the bottom of the bottle of shine he drank, or maybe it’s too late, but he’s functional.
Anyone who likes dystopian science fiction, pure action described brilliantly by one of my favorite storytellers, will love this deep dive into a new series. Now I have to get Hell Divers II, Ghosts! I’m ready for more X!
A devastated world rich in detail and suspense!
Nicholas Sansbury Smith has done it again! This story delivers his distinctive rapid-fire action, powerful characterizations and ingenious new twists on familiar tropes. He has masterfully created not one, but TWO desperate worlds. First is the ravaged earth two hundred fifty years after nuclear holocaust. The other is roughly twenty thousand feet above the planet’s surface in massive dirigibles never designed with long-term human housing in mind. There’s a great deal going on here and it all plays out magnificently.
My favorite character, Xavier “X” Rodriguez, is the perfect anti-hero. Self-absorbed. Tormented. Flawed. His skydiving scenes are breathtakingly realistic. Highly recommend this series.
An exhilarating ride thru space to save the last humans. Nick Smith has again proven he can tell an amazing imaginative story. Xavier (X) and his band of Hell Divers leave their flying fortress Ares, home to the last known 600 people to “dive so humanity survives.” They jump in the storm ridden skies as they descend to the radiation filled remnants of earth to find the life saving pressure valves and nuclear cells needed for survival. As the ship Ares is fighting rebellion in the skies, X and his other Hell Divers are fighting their way through horrendous snow storms, winds, lightening and flying mutated monsters called Sirens. It’s a story that doesn’t give you time to breathe, keeps you immersed and engrossed. Wonderful job Nick!
What an awesome beginning to a great series. Mr. Smith sure has a way of putting words on paper. A scifi thriller like no other, this one will hold you spellbound, on the edge of your seat while biting your fingernails.
Awesome read!… Just finished Hell Divers 1-3. lots of action and unexpected surprises. You get to know the characters and begin to care about what is happening to them. Just downloaded Hell Divers 4 and will for sure be reading it this weekend
A poisoned world and a few brave men and women to try and salvage what they can, dive to the surface, face unimaginable terror and then do it all over again. The action doesn’t stop, the characters are amazing and Nicholas Sansbury Smith has anothervwinner.
Great twist on a post apopcoliptic book! Survival is everything, and possible thanks to the Hell Drivers. Reading Hell Divers II now and it’s even Better than the 1st one!
Great story line kept me interested and the main characters made you care about them. I’ve read all of the books in this series and they are all action packed. Waiting for the next book in the this series.
anything Nicholas Sansbury Smith writes is pure adrenaline from beginning to the end.
I love this book! I am reading the entire series. As soon as I finished book 1, I started book 2, then I preordered book 3. It has a lot of action adventure, and great characters.
This was a great book. A must-read for fans of apocalyptic and dystopian fiction!
I enjoyed this book. It’s borderline a mindless action thriller (entertaining but not “deep”). I think it would translate VERY well into a movie!
Couldn’t get into the book after the first chapter. Just didn’t do it for me.
Great book. Exciting and fast paced.
Can’t wait for the last book in this series.
Fun, interesting, and a page turner!
Loved it !
Another story of post apocalypse where radiation and mutants threaten the last of humanity.
