Zora James knows the pain of loss, the lick of flames, the passion of purpose. But she’s never known the heat of love. Yet when she meets Alastar, the sexy Ranger with a hero complex, Zora knows her life will never be the same. Alastar Adams knows the sting of rejection. But he’s never known the healing heat of love, the power of unexpected happiness. Yet when he meets Zora, the elegant law … student with the soul of an angel, Alastar knows his life will never be the same. For Zora and Alastar, however, the hunt for love proves to be a creature of mists and shadows because Alastar is no mere man.
In a world where fear often trumps trust, his secret just might tear them apart. Or perhaps it will be Zora’s divine fate that will doom them to hopelessness. Whoever said love at first sight means forever? Certainly not the demon assassin sent to destroy one by murdering the other.

I absolutely loved Heat, Hunt Hope! The story is truly a raw love story in which the two lovers have to come to a place of honesty in how they feel and how they love in order for them to make it. The book has twists, romance, action, and wisdom for the ages; all of which keep you engaged and turning the pages of this phenomenal story. Although the characters are not “real life, ” they feel like people you would know. You root for them and want their relationship to work because if theirs works so will yours. I loved this book and its take on relationships. It is real, raw, and something that gives me hope. What a phenomenal action-packed romance story!

True and eternal devotion
The epic struggle of good vs. evil continues in N D Jones’ second spicy and searingly emotional paranormal romance. An Afro-centric cosmology surrounds and anchors the bittersweet story of Zora, the human woman with an angel’s soul, and the incredibly handsome Alastar, who hides his true identity even as his forbidden love for Zora sets the world of angels and demons on a collision course of resurrection and damnation. The lovers endure over time and into eternity, proving that the bond between mated souls transcends all. I really enjoyed this book, even the tearful parts, and readers will find it an uplifting, life-affirming read. This is a voluntary ARC review.
I am a bit on the fence with this book, in the same way I was with the first book in the series. It’s had all the elements for an exhilarating read and while it did hold my interest for the most part, it also could have been so much more.
Albeit a slow start the story was pretty quick in the sense that it jumped into the main conflict of the plot without much ado. The one thing I really enjoyed was the originality of the plot and conflict and the world this story and previous book built. It was something that really stood out to me and impressed me since it showed such an imagination and passion between the pages. Which is why it is such a shame that the story lacked that needed depth and characterization for it to fully impact me as a reader.
The plot was so quick yet so slow at the same time, taking room for long descriptions and rants but very little time for interactions between the characters and the relationship other than sex. The important development that interested me was brushed by a bit too quickly for my liking and it wasn’t until the ending with the fight that the story took more time and investment in the characterization and the romance. By then it was a little too late for it to do so since that devotion needed to be at the beginning for me to fall for the story. Although better late than never of course.
Heat, Hunt, Hope falls at three stars for me. The story needed to be fleshed out in terms of interactions between the main characters and not just sex. I also was not a fan of the strange and vulgar metaphors used to describe their sexual interactions. Other than that the plot had potential and a satisfying ending.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Heat, Hunt, Hope is the second book in the Winged Warriors series and we reunite with Issa, Serwa, and Nathaniel. However, they are not the main focus of this book. Instead, we meet Zora and Alastar. Both of them have their secrets but are happy enough to gloss over them with the other.
This is a fast-paced story that gives you the details of Zora’s past at the beginning but you have to wait for Alastar’s. There is plenty of action here, both in and out of the sheets, and the timing skips forward so you know they have been together for a while.
I enjoyed this one more than the first as I found it to be less disjointed. I loved how the characters from the first showed up here and I hope to see them again in the next. The ending is perfect for their story and I have no hesitation in recommending this novella that feels like a full-length novel!
