I never thought I’d fall for an older man. He’s smart. Sexy. Irresistible. Everything I’ve ever wanted, but I can’t have him. He’s broken. Guarded. He’ll never give me what I need.So why do I still want him? Because I am going to show him how to live again… and how to love.At least, that was the plan…
I was waiting on deans story and it did not disappoint. We meet Dean in the other books and now really seeing him and knowing his story you love him more.
Sean has a tragic pass that has stoped him from pretty much finding happiness. But when he meets chelsea he just knows, he feels it and their connection is instant and beautiful to follow.
Chelsea is young, but with all the tragedy in her life she sure don’t act like it. She has suffer loss and still lives life and moves on forward. When she meets Dean she feels the connection and their journey starts. This two help and heal each other.
It’s such a wonderful story of love. You will shed a tear or two. Truly recommend it. Also it can be read as a standalone but all the books in the series are amazing!
5 Stars read!!!
Age gap
Surprise pregnancy
Fiery red head with a personality to match
Action and suspense
Jessa York is a new author for me and I just binged all her books in the last month!
Dean is the sweetest man a girl could fall for (and he calls her darlin’). He has a bit of an issue with taking charge… But really, what man doesn’t. Chelsea has got her work cut out for her!
This series has a bit of everything you could want. And the secondary characters just keep on coming!!! Can’t wait to see what Jessa has in store for us next!!!
I have read the first 3 books in this series and loved each one of them. I must say Jessa York did not disappoint in this book either. I loved Dean and Chelsea story. Both have been through a terrible loss, so they understood what the other was feeling. I was so glad Dean found someone, he is a good man and caring boss. I also love how the characters from the other books are all connected. This is definitely a page turner. Thanks Jessa York for another great read.
I always know not to start a Jessa York book if I don’t have ample time to finish it, and Overdue was no different!! Dean and Chelsea’s story was so well written, made me laugh and made me cry. Most of all it made me feel, so much. While I didn’t want the story to end, I was so happy for them to get their happily ever after.
This book was heartbreaking yet healing. It was tough to read about the loss that Dean and Chelsea went through in their lives. Jessa did an amazing job of showing how grief continues to affect those of us who have dealt with loss long after our loved ones are gone. In their journey to finding happily ever after with one another, they also had to work on getting through the loss that they had previously gone through. With the help of friends, Dean and Chelsea were able to overcome all of the obstacles that came their way. There was a lot of laughter and tears during this story. I fell in love with Dean and Chelsea and couldn’t help but cheer them on. The heartache and danger that Chelsea’s uncle caused added a surprise element of suspense in the journey that Dean and Chelsea had to traverse. I was happy to see them come out on top after the horror that Chelsea had to go through because of Bob’s stupidity.
Wow I have loved all the characters in the Santa Lena Sizzles series. Dean and Chelsea’s story is amazing and so full of emotion. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and swooned We heard a little about Sean in the previous book. He has been through such a terrible loss and thinks he’s destined to be alone the rest of his life until he comes across the vibrant, sweet and fiery Chelsea at the party of one of his biggest clients.
But the thing is will Dean let his past ruin his future? Can he let his past go for the fiery redhead?
Jesse York is an amazingly talented writer if you haven’t read the previous books in this series you should. You don’t have to Overdue is a stand alone but to get a better view of the secondary characters you should.
I fell in love with Dean Brentford, owner of Brentford Organics, for many reasons throughout the series thus far. He is sharp, focused, successful, kind, charming, sexy, and sweet. He values his friendships and has always been a source of support for those he cares for. He has this take charge type of personality that screams he is capable and up to the task of being in control. Fitting too for a sexy beast with a Quarterback build, but I digress, more of that later, lol.
Inside that appealing package, is a wounded man plagued with three years worth of grief and pain following a devastating and life-altering loss. While Dean has a heart big enough that he can and does celebrate the personal wins in the lives of his friends, he feels that certain aspects of life are not meant for him. Namely, a love and family of his own. My heart broke for this man as Jessa invoked so much passion into her telling of his story. Book 4 in the series feels more intense than the previous books, giving us a great deal of depth and raw emotion as we gather in support of Dean and his ultimate acceptance that he deserves a happily ever after. There was never a moment in which I did not feel a connection to Dean and Chelsea, because their story is told in such a meaningful way.
Dean Brentford was not looking for love when he attended a business function hosted by perhaps his largest client, but it darted out in front of him anyway, and he was helpless to its calling. A man enjoying the successful fruits of his hard labor, does not typically gamble away said fruits on abstract and fleeting concepts like attraction, lust, and love, but even smart men have their weaknesses. For Dean, his weakness came packaged as a green-eyed seductress with almond-shaped eyes, a curvy waist, and stunning red curls. After three long years, Dean was a starving man, and Chelsea had waited long enough for a man like Dean. She was tired of waiting, and was the ideal match for a man used to being in control. I was so ready for Dean to be the one to lead the trail towards seduction, so how refreshing that is was the confident young woman fifteen years his junior, in the middle of a party, held by her uncle! I loved her for that…go Chelsea!! Get yours girl. Be Shameless!
While the attraction and chemistry between Dean and Chelsea could be felt for miles of Kindle pages,
the true connection between them was established by how vulnerable they were with one another. This was not some boring insta-love, insta-lust storyline littered with overtly descriptive sex to sell books, but no plot development. Dean and Chelsea were drawn to each other on such a cosmic level, because they sensed something in one another that felt familiar and comforting. They had both experienced tragedy in their lives, and understood one another in ways other people could not. I loved the conversations they had! OMG…THE FEELS!!! Absolutely, Jessa’s most emotional story to date and she nailed it! I laughed, I cried, and Oh Lawdy…how I SWOONED over Dean and his base alpha instincts and behavior. What a man he is ladies!! We should all be so lucky, I’m just sayin’. If you thought his actions towards his best friend Vivienne in the previous book were worth applauding, just wait till you see the love and devotion he has for Chelsea. If it weren’t for the fact that Jessa totally made Chelsea completely worthy of Dean, and lovable in her own right, I may have had to consider knocking her off. Dean deserves the best, and Chelsea was the woman to give him all of that and more. She rocked and gave as good as she got! Gotta love a strong woman, am I right? Chelsea challenged Dean, but she also encouraged him and loved him fiercely.
“Why don’t you let me carry it for a while? Let me carry your sadness and worry and heartache. Just for today. If you want it back tonight or tomorrow, I’ll give it back. But I want you to be happy again.”
In addition to the romantic notions of this book, there was also action, suspense, and intrigue. There was this whole mystery happening as Chelsea and Dean were trying to let their relationship take flight. Another jaw dropping moment awaits you. As such, we met new characters in this book, as well as revisited the usual antics that accompany Roza & Riley. LOL….those two! Can’t wait to see what lies ahead for our Riley. Eeeek!
We also caught up with Vivienne and Jason, and even Harper and the kiddos. I love that they are along for the ride.
A well-written book no doubt, that will keep you guessing. There is so much to love and enjoy with the Santa Lena “Sizzlers”. The perfect easy read filled with humor and heart!
Highly Recommend! Dean is everything you could ask for in a perfectly delicious book boyfriend and even more. Jessa will have you cheering for both he and Chelsea as they fight for their dreams and a love they deserve. You will not be disappointed!
Healed By Chelsea (Love In Santa Lena, #4) by Jessa York is a contemporary, age-gap romance told in dual POV. Although part of a series where we originally met Dean in earlier books, this can be read as a standalone. However, I’d recommend reading them all because it enhances the experience when previous characters appear.
Dean lost his wife three years ago and never really recovered. He hasn’t dated since then or remotely had the desire to do so. That is until he meets Chelsea, a beautiful librarian fifteen years his junior and the niece of a business associate. They have an immediate connection and understanding of each other as Chelsea has also experienced tragedy. But in order for Dean and Chelsea to truly be together, they must overcome many obstacles – both internally and externally.
I have loved every book in this series so far, and this one was no exception. All the characters are fantastic and it is so much fun to get to know them better as they continue to reappear in each book. Full of humor, heart, romance and a touch of suspense, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ever since the first book, I’ve been eagerly anticipating Riley(Izzy)’s story. Hopefully, it’s coming next. Pretty please, Jessa! I’m looking forward to it.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
Dean and Chelsea were made for each other! This story brought me in and gave me all the feels!
This has been such a terrific series and this book is a wonderful addition. All of the characters are really well written and bring a lot to each story (even if they are a secondary characters). Dean and Chelsea’s story was sweet and sexy with a little bit of intrigue thrown in. These two characters have been through tragedies that have shaped who they are. I’ve loved Dean from previous books but in this story he really came into his own. Both he and Chelsea have emotional journeys to overcome their baggage but Dean’s journey was a bit harder. Chelsea is a perfect match for him in personality and the way she looks at life. Their journey was a little messy and unexpected, but I couldn’t have hoped for a better happily ever after for this couple.
I voluntarily read a digital ARC provided to me by the author.
Oh my gawd! This is definitely my favorite by this author!
Dean’s story was quite heartbreaking and if ever a hero deserved to find a happy ever after, it was him. I loved that from the moment he saw Chelsea and then heard her laughter, a part of him he didn’t even know existed came to life. Instead of fighting it, he completely embraced what being with her did to him.
Chelsea too had a past filled with pain. Some of the things she shared with Dean and what had helped her was absolutely heartwarming, especially as she extended those same motions to him. I found my throat thickening with tears several times as this couple work to heal each other.
This is not filled with typical actions and reactions. This was a fresh new story taking a trope, that I personally am not a fan of, and making it shine in a whole new way. I loved absolutely everything about this story. Yes, there is a dead spouse and I was apprehensive, to say the least. This trope can be extremely tricky for me as I often feel the heroine comes in second place. However, that was never the case here. From the very beginning I was one hundred percent certain that Dean’s heart belonged to Chelsea and it never wavered from that point onward.
This is a fast paced story that moved fluidly from one issue to another, Dean and Chelsea growing closer with each obstacle they overcame. The steam factor is quite steamy and the chemistry between this hero and heroine is sizzling and completely believable. This also has some great jealous possessive moments with the hero.
As all other books in this series, this is filled with some wonderful humor and hilarious antics. While we see some of the characters from previous books, this can be read as a standalone. It is by far the best she has written, in my opinion, and I expect some pretty amazing things in the future as her talent continues to grow.
4th book in the series and it did not disappoint. Love Jessa York’s books!
I really loved this book. I think it was my favorite of the 4. Dean and Chelsea’s journey was rocky but so perfect. I laughed and even cried a couple of times. I loved that we got to catch up on the lives of the characters from the previous books and see how they’ve grown. I’m hoping we get to see Chad and Riley’s story soon as I’m not ready to say goodbye to this group of people.
MY FAVORITE OF THE SANTA LENA SIZZLES SERIES!
Jessa has done it again! I LOVED this story so much and have been waiting for Dean’s tale since meeting him in Over Easy.
There were so many wonderful moments! I laughed, cried, and yelled at my Kindle while reading.
Dean and Chelsea helped each other grow and change throughout the story. It was truly beautiful to see them do that.
You definitely want this one on your shelf! I absolutely recommend it!
I was fortunate enough to get an ARC of this book. Wow!!! One truly exceptional romance. Dean and Chelsea’s love story was so wonderful. Dean an amazing thoughtful guy and Chelsea s sweet caring woman. They both have had a heart-wrenching past. I love how they fell in love so quickly and how gentle Dean was with Chelsea. A page turner, I couldn’t put down. The shock that came about with her uncle, really put a twist in the story. The ending was exceptional and I am so happy that it ended very happily for Dean and Chelsea. A great 5 star read. Thanks again Jessa.
Yowza!! I have loved all of the books so far in the series but I have to say I think this one has been my favorite so far. This is a bit of an age gap for the main characters but not too much to weird me out.
The path these 2 had to take to find each other were very different but as in life not all relationships work and sometime people are brought into our lives for a reason. I believe this is what Dean and Chelsea are.
The emotions were all over the board for me on this one but again I adored this story and can’t wait for more. If you have not read anything from this author I recommend you start!
I have been looking forward to Dean’s book since the first book by Jessa York, and it did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and get this book as soon as possible!
Overdue is the 4th book in the Santa Lena Sizzles Series. I have loved getting to fall in love with this author. I have had the opportunity to read all 4 of the books and they all were amazing. I have loved how all the characters have interacted in all the different books. It really has helped to pull all the books together. I would certainly recommend this book and author to any of my friends.
Stuck in the past?
I’ve been waiting eagerly for Dean’s story and it’s amazing
Dean is the owner of Brentford Organics and after landing a big client, he goes to one of their parties. A woman with beautiful red hair and the most gorgeous green eyes holds his attention and when she sees he’s only eyeing her, she decides to be bold and make a move. Chelsea’s uncle is throwing said party but she always leaves early due to boredom….but not this year! Sexy, slightly older male has caught her eye and she’s moving in. However, both come with heavy past baggage…will they be able to move on together or will they both be stuck in the past?
Loved this story and loved catching up with old favourites too! I’m hoping that there will be a book for Roza and eventually Chad as well, but I must admit the ninja has me intriguedThis book had all the feels, it had me teary eyed one minute, laughing the next and the epilogue had me by the short and curlies too Thank you to Jessa for my advanced copy and I look forward to more in this series!
“Overdue” (Santa Lena Sizzles Book 4) by Jessa York is a great read. I loved Dean and Chelsea’s story. This is a wonderful addition to this series. This story is packed with romance, passion, entertaining characters, humor, second chances, and more. I loved catching up with everyone. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, entertaining characters, and series.
