I never thought I’d fall for an older man. He’s smart. Sexy. Irresistible. Everything I’ve ever wanted, but I can’t have him. He’s broken. Guarded. He’ll never give me what I need.So why do I still want him? Because I am going to show him how to live again… and how to love.At least, that was the plan…
This story is phenominal! Dean has been through so much in his life that it will just break your heart and make you so happy that something positive is happening in his life now. Chelsea’s family has some dark secrets that come after them and will leave your heart pumping!
We can’t do it alone… that is the message. Very beautiful storyline.
Dean and Chelsea stole my heart. These two both had painful pasts and I was so happy to have them find each other and love. This older man/younger woman romance really touched my heart. The story is filled with deep emotions, steam, suspense, drama, sweetness and a really beautiful romance.
Dean, Dean, Dean. Hands down the sexiest of the men in Santa Lena Sizzles series! A broken man with a heart of gold! His story is easily one of the most intriguing of the 4 books in the series. He has a past that was mentioned in Vivienne’s book and of course inquiring minds want to know what is the owner of Brentford Organics hiding.
Chelsea comes into his life with her own baggage as well. Experiencing tragedy at such a young age, instead of wallowing in sorrow, she used it as a means to push herself to move on and help others as well. She is the perfect partner to Dean inspite of their age difference but will Dean be able to move on from his own sorrow to see what is clearly a much brighter and happier future ahead of him.
The most emotionally-charged book of the series. The story explores sadness, the difference on how people cope with their loss and will even make you question your own sense of mortality. But underneath all of this is a love more powerful than all of the three other books combined because it is born out of, in my opinion, the most powerful of all emotions and that is fear. When faced with fear, some people choose to run and hide while some will willingly face it. How Dean and Chelsea faced their fears was one heck of a ride!
If there were more stars to give, I would willingly give it to this wonderful story!
i love love love this book hated that it to end. i really wanted to read a lot more of this couple they are a lovely couple.
top read and my fav
This book was… wow… powerful. It’s the story of Dean and Chelsea. He is the owner of a successful business and a widower. She is a young librarian with very little family alive. They meet by chance and end up having sex, things are going well for a while, but soon get complicated.
This book has all the feels, love, lust, heartbreak, happiness, sadness, anger. I felt it all as I read it! Also, in this book, we see more of characters from previous books in this series, which was wonderful, as we see other parts of them and in other moments of their lives. Now I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I’m attached to this group of friends.
First I want to say this I’m Series has been one of my favourites to read, I’m always anticipating the next release because I know Jess’s York is going to make sure it’s perfect!
Dean has always been at the background in the series we know he’s had a hard life and faced stuff in life nobody would ever want to go through, but he still managed to be such an amazing friend to all those around him. Completely loyal and devoted to his job he decided after he lost everything that this was the only guarantee in his life so gave it his all. I always loved Dean from afar but to get a good look at his heart and soul made this book everything I wanted.
Chelsea was classy, sprinted and so damn sweet I couldn’t help but be hopeful that Dean would get his chance to live again. There connection was heart stopping and the chemistry just flowed off the pages. But nothing in life is simple and at times my heart was in my mouth, I cried tears of pain, laughed out loud and shouted with joy. But would do it all over again in a heartbeat
Another amazingly written tale from Santa Lea Sizzles series that leaves me longing for more!
Heartbreak and Romance!!
Heart wrenching story of Dean & Chelsea. Both have suffered loss and they can relate on a level most others cannot. Tragic, heartfelt and with comic relief. Our cast of characters from this series all play a part in this deep story of loss and moving on.
‘He stroked my back, hugging me tight. “They’ll be gone fifty years and you’ll still miss them every single day.” The unexpected sob that burst our caught me by surprise. Not once in fifteen years had anyone ever said something like that to me. It was always stuff like, “It’ll get easier” or “Time heals all wounds.”’
Emotional journey of two people in different places in their lives yet still so much in common.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Dean and Chelsea’s story is raw and passionate. Full of love and some heartbreak but worth it. Great addition to the series.
Loved this book. Hated having to wait for it. Characters are great. Deals with learning to love after a great loss!! Ready for more from Jesse York!!
This was probably my favorite of the series, besides the first of course. Dean suffered an unimaginable loss, and has yet to recover. No woman has sparked his interest like the young, fiery, stunning Chelsea. The niece of one of his biggest accounts. He knows he should keep his distance but something about her calls her to him. They have a bumpy road ahead of them, and Dean is forced to make peace with his past if he wants to keep Chelsea. There are some super sweet moments, some really infuriating moments and some really stupid moments courtesy of Dean. There was a little suspense, a little action, but at the heart a really sweet love story with everything one should have. The characters are relatable, lovable, and down right funny at some times. I do have one question though. Will the very hot Officer Stone get his own story? With the equally sexy Riley perhaps???? Inquiring minds want to know. *smiles*
This book was so worth the wait! Even though it is a stand alone book we see characters from the other books in the series. I was so happy to finally get Dean’s story. Neither Dean or Chelsea have had an easy life, both experiencing losses. They have a long road to reach their HEA but it is so worth it. I loved this story! I went through so many emotions while reading it.
After getting to know Dean throughout the first three books in this series, I couldn’t wait for his story to be told. And I absolutely loved every minute of it!! This story was fantastic!! It was full of emotion, laughter, love, heartbreak – it easily is the best of the series so far.
I loved the relationship Dean had with Chelsea – the connection they shared was just something that couldn’t be ignored, and who cared if there was an age difference between them. He had suffered so much loss in his life (she did as well), that he truly deserved to be happy and Chelsea was exactly who he needed. I couldn’t get enough of them and just thought they were perfect for one another.
And I hope Riley gets her story next…..or even more with Chad…..or Chad & Riley together? Honestly, as long as we get more of these lovable and amazing characters, I’ll be a happy reader 🙂
Ok I loved Chelsea and Dean such great characters I loved their story. Really want to see more of them and read forever! Loved every word!
Dean and Chelsea have both suffered unimaginable loss in their lives. Chelsea has managed to remain somewhat optimistic but Dean has shut himself off from all emotions because it simply hurts too bad.
When Chelsea and Dean meet up at a party, their connection was immediate. This is a story of grief and loss, along with healing and hope. They both make dumb mistakes and have to muddle through their feelings to find love and forgiveness.
This wonderful book is unputdownable. It should come with a warning to that effect. I loved it and will be reading the others in this series.
Another hit for Jessa!
I have read all 4 of her books. They are all amazing but this one, oh this one has all the feels.
Dean’s book is everything Jessa said it would be and more.
Deans story is one for the record books. This book made me laugh, cry and everything in between.
This can be read as a stand-alone however all our past favorites come back during the book.
Loss, grief, acceptance, moving forward with love.
I love Dean and Chelsea. After reading about Dean in the previous books I was so happy to get to read his story. Three years after his loss, Dean has not quite recovered, and then he catches a glimpse of fiery redhead with the captivating laugh.
Chelsea is 15 years younger and as they walk together to the garden he is mesmerized by her radiance and just confounded as to why she has captured his attention as completely as she has. Chelsea has suffered loss herself and they bond over their pasts that hold memories and pain.
Dean must come to terms with letting go of what he has held onto for three years as well as the fears he has yet to release. Chelsea is strong and brave and deals with her reality in a way that finds acceptance to it.
It’s a story of forgiveness, acceptance and love that I really enjoyed and continue to think about with a sense of pleasant satisfaction.
Overdue is the fourth book in the Santa Lena Sizzles series by Jessa York, and by far my favorite so far in the series. I fell in love with Dean throughout the series, but seeing Dean with Chelsea just cemented how much. There are a lot of emotional moments as we learn Dean and Chelsea’s pasts and as we follow them through their journey of moving forward together. I was quickly drawn in and I wasn’t disappointed where we were lead.
I laughed, I cried, I even yelled at my kindle, but in the end I was completely satisfied. One again Jessa pulled me in and kept me engaged with their story as well as re-visiting with the other characters from the series. She has quickly become one of my favorite new authors and I can’t wait for Riley’s book.
Oh my! I didn’t think the series could get any better. I was so wrong. This book was heartbreaking, heartwarming, and so hot! Dean and Chelsea are amazing. Dean has had a rough go of it, he has had tremendous loss in his life. Chelsea has also had great loss. They understand each other so well. I love how Chelsea is somewhat innocent, but knows what she wants. She’s not fake and just does what comes naturally. Dean though cautious really dives in when he sees her for the first time. I love how the author injects such personality in to every character. I can see Chelsea with “grabby” hands and Dean “storming” up to her with arms wide open for a hug. I really felt for both characters when the times got tough. I could feel Chelsea’s heart breaking when she thought he would never let go of the memories and I my heart broke for Dean having a hard time opening up to another potential hurt. There is a great surprise that helped force Dean to where he needs to be, and it was written so well. I hate it when there is blaming and over the top drama. Such a satisfying story for these two. As usual all our favorite characters are there. Audrey is still slapping her hips and the twins are wreaking havoc. I really wish I new Roza in real life! Now I am so curious about Chad/Sam and hopefully a book with Riley and Det. Stone. Don’t miss this series or this story! Amazing author, can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
I have had the opportunity to read all 4 of Jessa York books and they all were amazing. This serie is One of my favorites and I was looking forward to read it.It took me longer to read this than others.Age gap is main reason.Thats why 4 stars.Book itself, characters and story itself are just perfect.Dean and Chelsea are perfect match. They struggle against others opinions “too young” “too old” and “good enough”.Their journey is like rollercoaster,I laughed and tried.. my heart melted for them. My english isn’t perfect and I got lots to say about this book.I recommend this everyone.
