New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, is back with a new Kincade sister and a swoon-worthy football player in an all new standalone romance that will make you believe in first crushes and true love. I’ve signed numerous players to my family’s agency—I assumed winning over my next client would be just as easy. The last thing I expected was to run into the boy who took my first kiss and … expected was to run into the boy who took my first kiss and broke my heart: only now Drew Bowman is all grown up.
Sexy. Scandal-tainted. Second-string. The crush I never got over.
I tell myself work is the reason I can’t get him out of my head. I tell him his talent far outweighs his position, and I know I can help. I lie and lie, because admitting that I want a second chance at my first love is impossible.
Some lines cannot be crossed, and ours was drawn in the sand years ago.

I’m supposed to hate her.
I’ve been told so time and again for ten years – her father ruined our family, smeared my name before my career even began.
But that’s not what I’m feeling now.
Brexton Kincade just strode out of my memories and onto my field.
Driven. Determined. Grown up. The Capulet to my Montague.
Being with her would be an unforgivable sin against my father, but I can’t resist the pull between us. Even if it means hiding what we have. Even if it means confronting the secrets I’ve always feared were lies.
Are you ready to fall for the Kincade sisters and then men who love them in K. Bromberg’s sexy, contemporary, sports romance series? These books can all be read as standalones, but you’ll enjoy reading them as a series!

We’re into book 3 now of the Play Hard series and this one centers around Brexton Kincaide. When she’s directed by her dad to try and recruit a star Quarterback to sign with their agency, she runs into someone from her past. Someone she had a huge teenage crush on. Someone whose family cut all ties with hers when a scandal rocked their world.
Drew Bowman is a star Quarterback in his own right, but for whatever reason he’s been relegated to second string. And with that family scandal hanging over his head, he’s not in any hurry to rock the boat in order to go for what he really wants. But when he runs into Brexton again after 10 years, all those dreams he’s kept simmering on the back burning start really heating up.
As always Kristy does a great job of rolling out a s story full of all the elements I love in a romance – emotion, angst, passion, steam, drama, secrets and lies, forgiveness and redemption. Brexton and Drew are like Romeo and Juliet, two people who are in love but can never be together because of the war between their families. But after all these years, what exactly is the truth that tore these two families apart, and more importantly, can Brexton and Drew overcome the obstacles?
I really liked the way Kristy presented the underlying issue that’s been plaguing these two families by giving us flashbacks to the events leading up to the implosion that tore the families apart. It was fun getting to see the teenage “dreadful Drew” and “bratty Brexton” and how the families were together before it all fell apart. I think I was just expecting the “truth” behind the fallout to be more complex than it was?
I fell in love just a little more with Brexton’s dad, Kenyon. Man I wish I had had a dad like him!
Get ready to go on an emotional ride with Brexton and Drew!!
Brexton Kincade works in her family’s sports agency. She is a hard worker, always looking out for her sports clients. Her father has built a fantastic business of representing clients and working harder than other companies.
Drew Bowman is a backup quarterback for a NFL Team. Brexton is at the stadium one day to see a client of hers, when she starts watching Drew practice. She sees how much time and energy he has put into the game, to just be 2nd string. Why doesn’t Drew want to be in the limelight?
Brexton & Drew grew up together – their families always traveling and going on vacation together. However, during Drew’s teenage years that all changed. The families drifted apart. Now Drew is seeing Brexton in a whole new light. Brexton is seeing Drew in a new light also – although she often dreamed of him during their teenage years.
Will Drew open up his heart to Brexton even with the family history? Will they just let history be history and move on with their lives? They can’t deny the attraction to each other. They can’t be open and have their relationship out in the open. They can’t share anything with their families. Will it be a love to be? Or not meant to be?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
5 star review Hard to Score (Play Hard #3) by K.Bromberg
Having read the previous books in this series I couldn’t wait to read to Hard to Score. As with many books by Ms.Bromberg, this one ticked all the boxes for me and I was riveted to the story she wove from the first to the last chapter.
I really loved Brexton Kincade and Drew Bowman both separately and together. Brexton is shocked to learn that Drew is the next star she is supposed to sign to her family’s agency. However, these two have a complicated history and even though both know that the line should not be crossed, it doesn’t take long before it is.
Drew knows that by becoming involved with Brexton it will destroy his father but even knowing that he cannot help but give in to the attraction that sizzles between them.
Will the secrets of the past destroy their chance of happiness? The journey for Brexton and Drew is rocky, but if they can work through the past and come to terms with it, then they might get the happily ever after that they both deserve.
This book has it all; angst, spice, steam with characters who are easy to engage with and you cannot help but become invested in their story.
What can I say about Hard to Score that hasn’t already been said and will my mere words do this amazing story justice, after loving the first two books in this series of stand-alone’s I’m amazed that just when I think I have read the best Ms Bromberg sets the bar a notch higher and gives me another read that will stay with me long after I read the final words.
Kincade Sports Management team consists of the boss Kenyon Kincade and his four daughters and this is Brexton Kincade and Drew Bowman’s story. Brexton is in New York watching a young quarterback she hope to sign and the last person she expects to come face to face with is Drew Bowman. Drew and Brexton have a history but their worlds were turned upside down when their fathers went in separate directions, with no reason why but leaving the families that grew up together devastated. Drew was destined to be a star quarterback so why is is only the second string why is he sitting on the bench when he is the best this team have…..
Will Drew allow Brexton to get close enough to find out what’s going on in his life or will the tragedy and the lies from their childhood keep this couple apart and keep Drew on the bench.
This is a book with all the feels, it’s about a childhood crush and a families turn apart by lies, it’s about soulmates who get a second chance, it’s about trust and taking a leap of faith and hoping the person we love will catch us. Hard to Score is a very special read with wonderful characters and it will certainly be on my top reads of 2021, so I guess all I need to say is please one click this gem.
Sigh! I am so in love with Hard to Score! It captured my heart and soul completely.
K. Bromberg’s writing is flawless. She scores with this beautiful and deeply emotional sports romance about love, family, and the power of forgiveness. It had me simultaneously swooning and sighing. It has the perfect mixture of all of the feelings and emotions you come to expect from Kristy’s books. I cried twice! The characters are addicting, real, and relatable. The chemistry between Drew and Brexton is palpable and sizzling hot. This is definitely a top 2020 favorite. I love the entire Play Hard series but this just rose to the top of my list. It is an absolutely phenomenal read that I couldn’t put down! Stop everything you are doing and run to get this book. This is a standalone with a HEA.
***ARC for an honest/unbiased review.***
Brexton and Drew are so great in this second chance romance!
This book is all about second chances both in love and life. Drew has a name filled with scandal and secrets that have been swept under the rug for years. Living under that crushing weight has left him riding a bench. Brexton is part of a team with her sisters representing the best of the best in the sports world and she starts off on a mission to grab another. When a chance meeting puts these two back into each others lives old memories start to surface and questions that have gone years unanswered come back again.
I love this series and this group of kick butt sisters! Brexton has her own issues of course but nothing compared to what Drew goes through in this book. She is great in that she stays pretty level headed and gets some great advice from her family along the way. Drew has so much going on and some shady family issues but when he can’t resist Brexton you can’t help but love him.
Great book – Great series! Looking forward to more!
Love, love stories that make you fall in love with romance. Kristy is such a passionate writer. You feel all the push, pull, love, anger all the emotions these characters go through. Brex and Drew’s story is a true second chance, love really does concur all. That’s not to say their love is an easy path. Brex the hopeless romantic is a smart feisty women you want to gave a good time with. Her take no nonsense is refreshing to teas from a lead female character. Drew, the lost man trying to hold the world up wanting to find himself and love. The connection these two share is simply magic. My favorite sister and true love story in the series. Amazing read!
Braxton and Drew have known each other since childhood. Their families were friends who vacationed together and they grew up together. Back when she was “Bratty Brex” and he was “Dreadful Drew”. She had a crush on him then, and the last summer vacation they all took together, he hurt her feelings when he insisted, during a game of spin the bottle, they were only friends….
Many years have passed and awful things have happened, when Brexton pays a visit to one of the football players she represents, she runs into Drew… who still appeals to her… but he is resistant. Drew figures out that he was not told the truth about what happened long ago. In his search for the truth, he falls for Brex, and Brex falls for him.. can they overcome the past?
K Bromberg is an all-the-time, one-click author for me. I have loved every single one of her books I have read. This one is another excellent story and this series is so very good!! I recommend anything she writes… but the Kincaid women stories… they are good, and you’ll love them!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this title, and my honest review is above.
He stole her first kiss during a game of spin the bottle and broke her heart right after, but that hasn’t stopped Brexton Kincade from thinking about him all these years later. Their families were friends and they often spent time together, and somewhere along the way he stopped being “just a friend” to her, he was the boy she wanted to claim her heart. But then tragedy struck and drove a wedge between their families and they never really spoke again.
Seeing him on the field now slinging footballs is a shock to her, she never really knew what life path he chose to follow, but it is quite evident he picked the right one. What she doesn’t understand is why he would choose to be a second stringer when he has the arm to be a starring quarterback. When she works up the courage to talk to him she isn’t sure what kind of reaction it might bring, there is years of hostility there that could come to light. But she decides it worth a shot to at least try.
Not realizing this one little talk could change the course of both their lives….
Hard to Score is a wonderfully penned second chance romance that comes brimming with feels, drama, and steam on every page. The moment I met these two I knew that they were bound for disaster where their families were concerned, but also something truly special when it came to them. Their reunion isn’t an easy one, there is a lot of old hurts and hostility there that must be dealt with first, but the chemistry between them never swayed a bit. It burned brightly all those years and just continues to get hotter with every new interaction. Drew is hesitant to get involved knowing his family won’t see it as happy news, but he also knows that what he has with Brexton is something that cannot be ignored. She brings him a sense of peace he hasn’t felt in a long while, and she quiets all the noise in his head, and he wants to hold onto that. But at what cost?
This story is bound to draw you in from the first page and hold your attention intently until the last… it’s are downright mesmerizing. Once I got started I just couldn’t put my tablet down, I had to see how it would all end for these two. And while I will say the journey wasn’t too pretty at times the outcome was quite beautiful… and good on the heart! If you like steamy sports romances then I have no doubt this one will check all the boxes for you, it’s characters will completely steal your heart! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Torn apart by tragedy and lies, Brexton and Drew lost too many years of friendship while their worlds were torn apart. But a chance encounter reunites the two and the friendship of youth turns into so much more as adults. But can the sins of the father be too much for the romance to overcome? And what happens when the answers to certain questions are finally revealed? With a storyline that I could not put down and characters the reader instantly falls in love with, this was an awesome addition to the series. K. Bromberg once again creates a relationship worth rooting for and a storyline that was a joy to read.
A shoutout to Valentine PR for an advanced copy of this addictive, emotional strong story.
Sports Romance
Friends to Lovers
Emotional Past
Character Growth
I do love a good romance when the main characters not only grow themselves, but with each other too. No matter what they faced within themselves, they made sure to stay strong together.
The third book in the Play Hard series (can also be read as a standalone), follows Brexton Kincade and the unexpected destiny when she bumps into her childhood and teen crush – Drew Bowman, NFL Player. Drew and Brax have a rocky relationship on their later decades of their life thanks to their parents fall out, but soon work out their connection hasn’t faded only time but gotten stronger.
They then work together in discovering truths of their pasts, while trying to have a real relationship with the true love they feel for each other.
Drew’s father was so annoying. His choices were frustrating and it made me so happy that he got a second chance at a different life with Brax.
Overall in the spoiler free review, I give it 4.5 Stars.
Brexton and Drew have known each other since they were young. Brexton dreamed of being Drew’s since then also. From that first kiss playing spin the bottle she felt the electricity between them. But then one day the family vacations stopped and life between the Bowmans and the Kincaid’s seized to exist. Accusations were made and now Drew must live his life under the shadow of his father’s sin. A dream he shared with his father to one day follow in his footsteps into the NFL now has a cloud over it and Drew must suffer the consequences. Where he should be the starting QB he is left as a second string and his talent is ignored.
The last person who he should get involved with is Brexton Kincaid. Afterall her father was somehow involved with this scandal according to Drew’s father. Drew has been forbidden to talk about the day his father gave everything up and there is no way his father would tolerate him getting involved with Brexton. Drew cannot ignore the pull he feels toward Brexton. He may not have seen her in years but he never forgot that kiss they shared when they were younger. Their relationship now has a chance to grow but will their families understand. Brexton is afraid to let her family know but she cannot ignore their bond either. She is a hopeless romantic and falls in love so easily but could this be the real thing? Can she have her forever with the guy she has dreamed about regardless of the rift between the families. Will Drew have to choose between his family and Brexton? Will true love win over all?
This is an honest review for an arc received.
“I may love being in love, but I do not need a man to go with me. I’m perfectly comfortable flying solo.”
Brexton Kincade is a sports agent at Kincade Sports Management. Although, working with her father and her sister’s can be challenging at time, she loves every minute of it. But when she comes face to face with her childhood crush all bets are off. But even though their chemistry is off the charts, the past seems like it’s always lurking just around the corner.
“She’s like a Juliet whose family lead to the demise of mine.”
Drew Bowman, hot jock, great teammate, and someone who will stop at nothing to bring pride back to his family. Although Dreadful Drew grew up with Bratty Brex, they haven’t seen each other in years. When they are at the same wedding, they are drawn to each other, no matter how hard he fights. Drew is battling family demons, that he never shares with anyone. But when do you stop living in the past, and stare down to hopes of your future?
“Because the sky and it’s stars remind you that your one problem is so very little in this great big world. It makes you feel like you’re not all alone.”
5 amazing stars! I loved every book so far in this series. But Brexton and Drew stole my heart. The pure determination that Drew shows throughout this book, pulls at every heart string. The longing for approval, answers, and desire to keep his family together gutted me. Brexton wears her heart on her sleeve. Their chemistry is off the charts. Their banter will put a smile on your face. You can’t help but cheer these two on and will everything to fall into place. I couldn’t put this book down. K. Bromberg scores with this one!
“You made me start to believe. You made me want. And now I have to figure out what the hell that means.”
Hard to Score hit all the right emotional notes and it’s my new favorite in this series. Drew and Brexton pulled at my heartstrings and their second chance, friends to enemies to lover’s romance hit all of the right emotional notes.
“She validates me. Believe in me. As it seems she always has.”
Brexton was a softer Kincade sister. She believes in love and relationships to her determent since she’s frequently been hurt. She’s strong, independent, and feisty and fights for what she believe in. She has always believed in Drew and when they met again, she’s determined to get Drew to see himself the way she sees him.
“I look at you and see one of the most gifted and talented quarterbacks I’ve ever seen but the man beneath is too goddamn afraid to step into the limelight.”
Drew has a lot of family demons and he’s been told that Brexton’s father was to blame for his family’s fall from grace. His family’s problems has led Drew to live his life differently than he planned and he had to put his dreams behind his family. Reuniting with Brexton forces Drew to confront everything he’s ever believed and the fact that it may be wrong.
“I’ve been dating you some way or another my whole life.”
“In every woman I’ve dated, I’ve been looking for a little piece of her.”
I loved these two. Their chemistry was hot and I could feel their connection. The bond they had in childhood made their connection in adulthood that much stronger and intense. My heart broke for Drew throughout the book and I loved watching him grow and open up. I also loved seeing Brexton stand up for herself and not settle for less than what she deserves.
K. Bromberg scored a touchdown with this emotional story. It was fun and angsty and a bit Romeo and Juliet. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next Kincade sister.
Wow! I’ve been hooked on this series for a while and I absolutely fell for this book! Drew and Brexton had such a deep history and I loved the flashbacks to get more of their history as time went on!
Drew had a lot of family issues and they impacted how he felt about himself and football. It was hard seeing someone who was described as being super talented stay on the sidelines and not push for something greater out of fear but I’m glad Brexton pushed him to be the best version of himself.
Brexton was just adorable, she didn’t have too many issues and I loved all the small things she did for Drew when he was struggling. I also loved her scenes with Finn because that was the first time we got to see Finn in a good light and I was down for it.
This series is amazing and I highly recommend starting with the first book but this book can be read as a standalone and is just as good on its own!!
I am so in love with this series of books about the Kincade sisters and their journeys to find love. Brexton and Drew’s story was so emotional and literally broke my heart so many times over for both of them, but more so for Drew. Secrets are such a horrible thing especially in families and many times things just aren’t what they seem. This story grabbed and took hold from the first page and took my on an emotional roller coaster filled with heartache, disappointment, laughs, steamy encounters. As always we got a peak into the other sisters and how they are doing. I am very much looking forward to the final book in this series Hard to Lose. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book for an honest review.
I really needed a distraction from my life at the moment and Hard to Score by K. Bromberg provided that perfect distraction. I didn’t want to put this book down with all of its witty banter. One of my favorite tropes is second chance and this book had it in spades. Drew and Brexton had a connection growing up as their families were all together until things broke apart between them. It all started with accidentally running into each other and the rest is history. The book was filled to the brim with sweetness, sexiness, heart to hearts, and love. The interactions between Drew and Brexton were heartfelt and developed. You also get a little past and present scenes thrown in there to help develop their relationship that much farther. K. Bromberg gets better with each book – I can’t wait for the next one.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This is the next Kincade sisters story, Brexton and Drew knew each other growing up. Their families were close. Then something happened.
He was her first kiss and then he broke her heart. Now she is going to try and bring Drew over to the Kincade Sports Agency and that might be harder than she thinks. While Drew is stuck as the backup quarterback, he seems fine with that, until he starts to question everything he thinks he knows about his past.
This is a second chance at love and you will be rooting for Brexton and Drew. It is filled with all the feels to make it a great story and I loved it all. Then past of his father that bleeds into Drew’s life will break your heart but don’t stop reading, this story is worth every tear you shed and every laugh out loud moment.
Author K. Bromberg has got another awesome series on her hands with this one and I can not wait for the last sister’s story, Hard to Lose.
**Wicked Reads Review Team**
Hard to Score is another fabulous story in this latest series by K. Bromberg. This third book is Brexton’s story and once again I have loved being back with Kenyon Kincade and his daughters.
Each book in the Play Hard series focuses on one of the Kincade sisters and I love that we are given the time to get to know each of them better. These four siblings and their Dad work together and are a strong family unit but seeing them individually away from business and the family is an absolute pleasure….. especially when they find their one!!
There is lots of history between Brexton and her childhood crush Drew. Family drama ensured that they had to endure many years apart. Their second chance at love has so many obstacles standing in their way – barriers that seem impossible to work through and overcome. On both sides there are misunderstandings, uncertainties and secrets. My heart absolutely broke for them during certain scenes in this story. I loved how much Brexton showed her maturity, strength and determination whilst Drew battled with his demons each and every day, on and off the field.
Hard to Score is a beautiful story about finding closure and moving forward with your own life and happiness. It is a story about forgiveness and most of all love. This book is filled with heartbreak, angst, banter and off the charts sexual chemistry that will keep you turning the pages until the story reaches its conclusion. Believe me when I say that I questioned which way the story was going to unfold a few times, and I loved those heart in my mouth moments.
I absolutely loved reading this story but my only niggle is that I wish the mid-section had progressed at a slightly quicker pace as sadly my attention wavered. However, the author did grab it back and hold it once again.
Incredible leading characters who have the most amazing connection and chemistry; a fantastic storyline, and secondary characters that add to the story perfectly are what await you in Hard to Score. I am already excited for Chase’s story in Hard to Lose and I hope we don’t have to wait too long for its release. It is going to be a bitter-sweet read as this will be the final Kincade daughter’s story, which also means the last book in this must read series.
