New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, is back with a new Kincade sister and a swoon-worthy football player in an all new standalone romance that will make you believe in first crushes and true love. I’ve signed numerous players to my family’s agency—I assumed winning over my next client would be just as easy. The last thing I expected was to run into the boy who took my first kiss and … expected was to run into the boy who took my first kiss and broke my heart: only now Drew Bowman is all grown up.
Sexy. Scandal-tainted. Second-string. The crush I never got over.
I tell myself work is the reason I can’t get him out of my head. I tell him his talent far outweighs his position, and I know I can help. I lie and lie, because admitting that I want a second chance at my first love is impossible.
Some lines cannot be crossed, and ours was drawn in the sand years ago.

I’m supposed to hate her.
I’ve been told so time and again for ten years – her father ruined our family, smeared my name before my career even began.
But that’s not what I’m feeling now.
Brexton Kincade just strode out of my memories and onto my field.
Driven. Determined. Grown up. The Capulet to my Montague.
Being with her would be an unforgivable sin against my father, but I can’t resist the pull between us. Even if it means hiding what we have. Even if it means confronting the secrets I’ve always feared were lies.
Are you ready to fall for the Kincade sisters and then men who love them in K. Bromberg’s sexy, contemporary, sports romance series? These books can all be read as standalones, but you’ll enjoy reading them as a series!

Hard to Score by K. Bromberg was SCRUMPTIOUS. I always know what I can expect from a book by her, and this was no exception, in fact, exceeding expectations!
Drew. Drew Hemmings. Bowie. What. A. Man. What a burden he carries, and yet he does it with magnificent skill. You can’t help but be intrigued, be drawn to him, become quickly enamored of him, at least, I sure was!
Brexton. An unusual name for a fascinating and unusual character! I love the Kincade sisters, and I think Brexton might just have taken first place in my heart! Fierce, feisty, always fired up with a ton of questions, yet gets adorably tongue-tied at the most inopportune moments.
These two are STEEPED IN HISTORY, and I lived for it. Every heartbreaking, heart wrenching, heartwarming, heart mending moment was so poignant, and hit me in the FEELS over and over again. This story will take you on one HECK of an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey, and it is SO WORTH IT!
And their chemistry? SIZZLING HOT. Seriously, Drew and Brex heated up the pages like nobody’s business, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and definitely needed the occasional glass of water to cool off! And the ANTICIPATION! It just builds and builds and builds and then combusts and overflows and overwhelms and embraces you and it’s magical!
If you’re looking for a story that will put you through the wringer and piece you back together again, better than new, for second chance love, for the power of love, trust, honesty, the importance of family, and the importance of the person that takes you on your good days, your bad days, and every day in between, you NEED Hard to Score in your life!
P. S. I want to go on vacation by Lake George!!! Those memories, those moments! POWERFUL.
As per usually I am late to the party and jumping into a series at book 3, but I figured it was best to start somewhere and work my way back as needed. I love K. Bromberg’s work, the way she crafts a story is brilliant and such a joy to read. Hard to Score is no exception. A beautiful second chance romance that is filled with a sassy lead female (Which I can never get enough of a strong female character) Brexton Kincade and hot as sin Quarterback Drew Bowman (But again, Bromberg knows how to write a sexy alpha)
Hard to Scare is 100% a page turner and exactly what I want from a romance. Sweet, witty, steamy… what else could you ask for? I love any series that centers around a family or group of friends an focuses on one character from that group for every new book. Love this read and I can wait to see what comes next and to go back and read the first two books in the series.

Hard To Score is book 3 in K. Bromberg’s Play Hard series. Drew and Brexton’s story is full of all the emotions: angst, drama, passion and more. Everything you want in a romance book. It’s one to read and be sure to grab the rest of the books in the series. You won’t regret it.
Second chance lve?!?
I’d like to introduce you to…
Drew Bowman aka-Dreadful Drew
AND
Brexton Kincade aka-Bratty Brex
…childhood friends and each others secret crush when they were kids.
Drew and Braxton’s parents were best of friends as these two were growing up. They were all so close they even vacationed together each year. That is, until something happened that drove an enormous wedge between the families. Then to top it off Braxton’s mother lost her battle with terminal cancer and the Kincade family gathered together to support each other and time marched on.
Fast forward ten years to Braxton and her three sisters running a successful sports management agency with their dad.
Additionly, Drew has followed his dream to play in the National Football League as a Quarterback.
While Braxton is doing a little recruiting one day she finds the Quarterback practicing on the field after a game. Unbeknownst to her though it’s not the first string QB that she’s been recruiting that’s practicing but the second string QB, who is non other then Drew Bowman. Her curiosity is peaked and she seeks him out to catch up. Little does she know the troubles the Bowman family has suffered through or where they’ve been through the years. There’s just this undeniable connection that these two still feel for each other and now that they’ve reestablished a connection the pull is strong. There have been lies told though and enormous hurdles to get over. Will their second chance have a chance or will it be snuffed out by the lies? Grab a copy of this un-put-downable book and find out.
I loved the narration of this book. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden brought these two characters to life. Great job you two!
4.5
“It’s always been you for me, Dreadful Drew. There’s no one else I’d rather stare at the stars with.”
Drew Bowman and Brexton Kincade grew up going on family vacations together and their families were very close. Brexton always had a crush on Drew and would be discouraged when it seemed he wanted nothing to do with her. After their families had a falling out they didn’t see each other for many years, until Brexton stumbled upon him on the practice field throwing footballs. Drew is now a second string quarterback for the NY Raiders. Brexton is working for her family’s sports agency. It seems that these two can’t keep from running into each other, and when they finally give into this pull between them, sparks fly.
This book was a much needed cleanse! This story was so sweet, full of forgiveness, second chances, and love. I love Drew and Brexton together! I love their history, and things that come up in the present day from some of the flashbacks we got to read. They are both vulnerable when it comes to each other, but I loved seeing them both open up to each other. There were so many cute, sweet, romantic moments between Drew and Brex that had me swooning. Drew is a gentleman. Even though Brex was afraid of getting her heart broken by Drew, she was able to sit back at times and allow him the time he needed. I am happy for him and the answers he was able to receive in this book. Sports romances are one of my favorite tropes and I really enjoyed this one! I am so excited for the final book in the series, Hard to Lose coming out in March!
ARC kindly gifted in exchange for an honest review.
Emotional and heartwarming!!
Drew and Braxton‘s story was quite the fairytale from page one I thoroughly enjoyed it right until the end love three in the little cameos with the sisters and the other players you definitely won’t wanna miss this it can be read as a standalone but why would you want to do that the other books are great and I can’t wait till the fourth one comes out as usual Kristi you nailed itThis book was the perfect ten
A second chance romance that will keep you guessing. Drew and Brexton were close family friends until tragedy hit both their families. It caused the disintegration of the bond they once shared. Fast forward, Drew is a second-string quarterback in the NFL, and Brexton is a Sports Agent working for her family’s Sports Management Agency.
A chance meeting gets them in each other’s company. They find out that feelings they through were gone never really left. But can they survive the repercussions of their past to have their future? Only in reading this book will you find out.
Book 3 in the Play Hard series and it was so good and a wonderful addition. A great friends to enemies to lovers sports romance. Brexton and Drew’s story was a delight to read. They were friends when they were children and thanks to an issue between their fathers, their friendship was destroyed. Now that they are older, their paths will cross again thanks to her sports management job. Will their history come between them again or will they be able to work through everything and find the love that was there all along?
The third book in the Play Hard series did not disappoint.
When Brexton Kincaid crosses paths again with Drew Bowman after eleven years, all the feelings she felt for him as a teenager came rushing back. Their families were so close when they were kids, then suddenly, Drew’s father quit playing professional football and Brex’s mother passed away, the families no longer hung out together, and Brex and Drew no longer remained in contact.
Seeing each other as adults brought their mutual attraction roaring to the surface despite their efforts to resist. So many unanswered questions, so many unresolved issues jeep creating roadblocks to their relationship. Brex pushes Drew to reach for the dreams he long abandoned and Drew pushes his father to give him some much needed answers to the question of why he quit playing football and, seemingly, pushed Drew away.
The raw emotions both main characters felt, both good and bad, truly came through and were palpable. The secondary characters were fully formed and integral to both the story and the development of the main characters. And the sexual tension between Brex and Drew was both sweet and steamy.
I highly recommend this book. I look forward to Chase’s story and the last entry in the series.
How can one go wrong with a second chance sports romance? Drew and Brex’s story starts so sweet and the usual childhood drama then thrown in some family drama and years apart. When they come back together their chemistry is hot and then I love the slow rebuilding of their relationship. Drew is a perfect H in the story without being overly aggressive or alpha but truly just the perfect man. Brex is a strong independent hopeful romantic and had me cheering for her the entire time she would find her HEA. This story was refreshing in how the feelings and process throughout the read felt real and true.
I have to say this book is a 10!!
This is the story of Drew & Brexton. Drew is a quarterback for the NY Raptors. Brexton works for Kincade Sports Management, her father’s agency. She recruits sports players and manages them. Drew and Braxton knew each other when they were younger. They meet now when she sees him practicing at night throwing the football. Yes, they are really attracted to each other, but their families have issues between them from ten years ago. Can they weather the storm if they stay together? There are a lot of emotional ups and downs in this story, and you feel every one of them as you read. It’s a can’t put down story, for sure. Lots of steam in it, too. Well done K. Bromberg.
This book was amazing. There were so many parts where I was chuckling. Many other parts when I had tears in my eyes as I felt so much sympathy for Drew and many many other parts when I swooned. I loved this book and while I didn’t read the other two books in the series yet, I plan on it. Immediately. Because the Kincade family is wonderful. There are a lot of emotional parts to this story. There’s a past- Drew and Brex (and their families) were tight when they were younger and then there was a scandal that tore them apart. Drew’s home life is tragic and it carries over to his game (he’s a second line quarterback but talented enough to be QB1). I loved how K. Bromberg infused just enough about football to make it interesting but not too much so that a non-sports person like me lost interest. Well rounded, emotional and beautifully written. This was definitely a favorite of mine.
So it’s no secret that I have found my way back to author K. Bromberg, and I am loving it. FLIRTING WITH 40 kicked things off, and I am so totally enamored of the Play Hard series that I can’t say enough good things about these books.
Kristy delivers the perfect blend of smart, steamy, and sweet. A smart, savvy woman who can make it on her own, a hero who brings out her softer side, and plenty of swoon, HARD TO SCORE hits all the marks and then some. Brexton and Drew make second-chance love look like the best thing ever, and I could not have enjoyed their story more.
I’m telling you, if you’re a romance fan, you need to be reading Kristy’s books, because they satisfy at every level. There’s some angst, just enough, and storylines that make me happy to be reading. Make sure these are on your night table, your e-reader, your TBR, what have you. Just dive in and enjoy.
When I first read Hard to Hold I thought that would be my favorite book of the whole series, but then I read Hard to Score and boy was I wrong. Hard To Score was EVERYTHING!!!! I couldn’t put it down for even a second.
Brexton and Drew aren’t friends, in fact, they claim to hate each other. But when life throws them together, they can’t deny the amazing chemistry that they have together. Brexton was amazing, I loved how dedicated and strong she was. Drew was….. I just loved him. every time he said something I would just swoon. He might have tried to force himself to dislike Brexton, but he just couldn’t.
This book had me swooning and wanting more, I didn’t want it to ever end. K Bromberg just wrote a book that I will for sure be rereading over and over again.
A must read!!!
Hard to Score was another amazing romance by K.Bromberg . It has all the ingredients you look for in a book that will swoon you away.
“At the end of the day, he doesn’t get to steal my sunshine because he chose to be a thunderstorm. “
I was so enthralled in the story that I couldn’t put the book down. The story of Bratty Brex and Dreadful Drew was angsty , endearing, addictive and romantic.
Brex is determined to get Justin to sign with Kincaid Management. After a football game, she bumped into an old friend Dreadful Drew!
They were best friends when they were younger… they were like family. One event, one decision turned the life of Drew upside down.
Brex wants to rekindle her friendship with Drew but he wants the past to stay in the past…
She swore off men and is not looking for a relationship simply because she wants to protect her romantic soul… she didn’t plan for Drew!
Secrets, lies, lust , family love…..
It is impossible to not fall in love with Drew. He is going to steal your heart. He made me cry and feel…
They both deserve their HEA and Drew deserves to succeed in the NFL… but will they? At what cost?
Another sweet story to add to this series. Brexton and Drew are childhood friends who meet again, after life events tore their families apart. The past is something that is always lurking in the shadows but they are drawn together too strongly to deny what’s there. I really enjoyed the little flashbacks to their childhood together, but more so because K. Bromberg uses them to connect actions the characters make in the present. They aren’t there to allude to something we have yet to learn, but serve to show the deep connection the main characters have for one another and tender moments they share.
This sweet story will have you thinking back fondly to the blush of young love, the what-ifs. This is a second chance romance, no normally my favorite trope but it is very well done here. I like how their journey was a bit messy but not over the top. There wasn’t some crash and burn moment between the characters that might tear them apart. It’s more of a what next until they work it out and are together again. If you love a great romance that is a little messy but not predictable, this series is for you. I love the sports connection, the strength of family that runs throughout the series, and I love how these women are take charge and ball busters but still carry real insecurities. They are strong and still sensitive. They are women I root for and not a female lead you want to grab and shake. I can’t wait for the next one but will be sad because for now, it’s the last in this series. I MAY have to buy them on audio so I can enjoy these stories all over again.
I can’t get enough of this series. I am a huge fan of K. Bromberg. The Play Hard series is one you don’t want to miss. I couldn’t get enough of Braxton and Drew.
If you are a fan of second chance romances like I am you will love Hard to Score. Braxton is good at her job and cares about her players and her family. She wants to find her special person like two of her sisters have. She has always had a crush on Drew.
Drew is not a fan of Brexton’s dad after what happened with his dads career. He is having a hard time moving on from that and seeing what’s right in front of him.
I loved Hard to Score and all the characters. Drew and Brexton have the best chemistry. I highly recommend this book and this series! I cannot wait for the next book!
Drew and Brexton are so meant to be.
K. Bromberg continues to impress with this forbidden, second chance, sports romance. Hard to Score had so many of the elements I love – amazing character chemistry in and out of the bedroom, a strong-willed, kick butt heroine, unrequited longing, angst, scandal and of course so much heart. I loved this book!! K. Bromberg just knew how to tug on my heartstrings, play with my emotions and make me fall head over heels. The Play Hard series just keeps getting better and better.
After reading the first two books in the Play Hard series by K. Bromberg I really couldn’t wait to finally read Hard To Score which is the third book in this series.
This book series is about 4 sisters – Dekker, Brexton, Chase and Lennox. All four work for their dad, Kenyon Kincade, at Kincade Sports Management. He assigns them all that each of his daughters have to sign on new sports athletes.
This book is about Brexton Kincade. She tries to get Justin Hobbs to sign up at her sports management and shows up after a game. He is a twenty something cocky quarterback star and she knows that it won’t be easy to get him under a contract with her management.
When she is about to leave she sees an athlete on the field and is totally mesmerized by what she is seeing. She thinks it’s Justin, but when she gets closer she realizes it’s not him. It’s no other than Drew Bowman who she hasn’t seen for ten years. They grew up together, were best friends and she had a crush on him. Everything changed between them when his father was in a huge scandal and they never talked again which broke her heart and she never got over him. Drew’s family was falling apart and it’s all the fault of the Kenyon Kincade. He has so much hate towards Brexton’s family but all the feelings come rushing back to him. They try to leave the past behind and start as friends again but they both can’t deny their feelings for each other for long.
Hard to Score is a second chance sports romance and it is a book you have to read! I have no idea how Kristy does it but every book is my new favorite book by her! I couldn’t stop reading this story because it was so good! It gave me all the feelings! It had many sexy moments and I loved the tension between the main characters. But I also think this book has very emotional parts where you can feel how hurt and broken they are. I have a soft spot for our football player Drew and he is swoon worthy even if he doesn’t know it! Even after ten years Brexton and Drew have this amazing chemistry you just can’t deny.
Really looking forward to the last book of this series!
