New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, brings you a romance about love, forgiveness, and living every day to the fullest. I know finding and signing a military vet to the agency is a long shot–but it’ll be good press just letting him try out. That’s what I tell my family, rather than admit I can’t get the letter he wrote us five years ago out of my head. But what I tell the bartender … of my head.
But what I tell the bartender in his hometown is a lie. I know veterans protect each other. So I pretend to be a graduate student.
Sparks. Flame. Fire. I accidentally got in too deep.
I didn’t expect to develop feelings for Gunner Camden.
And there’s no way I can admit to my lies now, not without destroying what we share. So I’ll keep faking it.

There are two versions of me: before, and after deployment.
Back then I was a screwup kid. I’d lie, cheat, and steal my way out of everything. My only love was baseball.
After I started fighting, I found out there had been another path for me. One that involved my dream. But by then I had seen too much.
The old me was dead, so I put my dreams to rest, too.
Then Chase Kinkade walks into my bar and reminds me that life is meant to live. No regrets.
Fresh. Happy. Hopeful. I can start to see a new dream, with her.
But sometimes things are too good to be true… and dishonesty is the one thing I can’t forgive.
Are you ready to fall for the Kincade sisters and then men who love them in K. Bromberg’s sexy, contemporary, sports romance series? These books can all be read as standalones, but you’ll enjoy reading them as a series!

WOW! This book captured me and dug its hooks in right from the very beginning and did not let go. I endured every single emotion possible reading this book and it has left me with a huge book hangover that is going to take a long time to get over. If you are going to read this book, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, make sure to have the tissues beside you. Gunner is the most selfless person ever and I completely fell in love with him. As strong and unfazed as she seemed, it was great to see the softer side of Chase. This book hit my personal triggers but even with that begin said, this is a TOP 2021 READ.
This book is not like the other books in the series, but I loved it just as much!!! Chase and Gunner ‘complete’ each other. They are the yin and yang to each other but really so much alike. When Chase decides to follow a Dear John’ letter that was sent to her dad, little did she know that she would find her passion, love and herself. Chase falls for the small town bartender Gunner, whom she originally thought would help her find Ryan Camden. She’s smitten at first glance, so much that she doesn’t ask him. It doesn’t take long for Chase and Gunner to be beyond smitten, but rather falling for each other. When Chase’s PI, finally tells her Ryan Camden is Gunner, his nickname from the army, what will Chase do? She’s already fallen, entwined herself in his life through his help work with the children of fallen shoulders and not mentioned who she really is. Watching both chase and Gunner find themselves through love was perfection, but will love win? Gunner’s trust is completely broken when he finds out chase was originally out to exploit him for her own gain. But in such a short time, chase learns what’s really important. I loved reading this book. This book is way more than a spirts agent and a baseball player. I absolutely loved this book!
This is the fourth book of the series and loved it like the previous ones, but this one has something else to make me like it more. Chase and Gunner, are two different characters, with different point of views, yet they have things in common that truly works for them. There are secrets and intriguing things that will have you reading non-stop. Their chemistry like all of K Bromberg’s books is off the charts. The story plotline was amazing, I went in blind and was surprised with it all. Chase was one of the characters whose story I really wanted to read, she was the most mysterious of them all, and Gunner was a swoony book boyfriend. I would recommend the whole series, the audiobooks are fantastic so if you like hearing the stories go for them.
This is more than a sports romance. A story filled with emotion, guilt, friendship, passion and forgiveness.
Chase is on the hunt for former pitcher Ryan Camden. What she finds is Gunner the bartender. She starts off with a little what she thought harmless lie. Of course it blows up in her face.
Chase is the baby Kincade. She is a workaholic overachiever. No time for relationships and love. When she finds a letter that was lost in the mail she is compelled to find the author(Ryan).
Gunner(Ryan) is an amazing human being. Life has not been kind but he still smiles. His heart is huge and his unselfish pursuits make him hero of the year.
When theses two meet, they have no idea the impact they will have on each other’s life. Gunner makes Chase want to do better. Chase gives Gunner peace. Things are great until they aren’t. Great story with characters with depth. Predictably wonderful.
I’ve loved this series! I’ve now read books 2 through 4 and thankful I can go back a read the first because I don’t want to leave these characters.
Hard to Lose is Chase’s story. She is the youngest of the four Kincade sisters. She is driven and determined, always focused on her to-do list. I felt like she is a very relatable heroine trying to find her independence in business and with her family.
Gunner is a war hero with so much strength and depth. He is working through survivors’ guilt and issues from his youth. All I wanted to do was wrap him in a deep hug and tell him he is incredible.
Their chemistry was evident from their first meeting and the sparkles did not stop.
I loved how this story was healing for both characters; how they became a greater whole together.
Their dates we sweet, wonderful ways they got to know each other. It also made it a fun way for the reader to learn more about them. After their Lagers and & Lego date, I want to find one near me.
Their steamy scenes took my breath away with their connection and intimacy.
This book does have a sports element to it; she is a sports agent and he is a former college baseball player but it’s not the focus of the story.
I highly recommend this book if you love strong heroines, an alpha hero with a huge heart and a connection that develops into one incredible HEA.

This is the fourth book in the Play Hard series and it is incredible. This one is Chase Kincaid’s story. The youngest sister of the four girls. We’ve read about Lennox, Dekker and Brexton all finding their forevers. And now they think it is time for Chase to as well. But Chase has her own hopes and dreams, and not necessarily looking to settle down. So when her dad says that KSM needs to up their game, she has an idea. But will it work?
Gunner gave up his dream to serve his country. A dream he thought was lost forever. Then Chase Kincaid shows up. I love that we get to read some of Gunner’s background. Explains how he became the man he is. How In the present, Chase makes him want to even be better. But Chase isn’t necessarily honest with him and that could ruin anything special that they might have. One thing Gunner can’t stand is dishonesty. Can the connection, chemistry and the feelings they have one for one another be enough? Or is it over before it even begins?
This is an emotional, heartfelt story that will captivate you from the beginning to the end.
Hard to Lose is the youngest Kincaid sister, Chase’s, story. Chase is a high achiever with no time for love. She goes to a small town looking for a former baseball player whose baseball career got sidetracked by the war. Ryan “Gunner” Camden was a wonderful baseball player who was raised by an awful step father who made his life miserable. Gunner had scouts interested in him when he was in college, but had to enlist and serve his country. I loved Gunner! He had a rough childhood, but became an amazing man. I liked seeing Chase let down her guard when she was staying in that small town getting to know Gunner. This story was very well written and it made me feel all the feelings!

Rating: 4 Stars!
I have been looking forward to this book so much and I loved it! Chase has intrigued me the most out of all 4 Kincaid sisters and omg I love her.
I was also a bit nervous going in because the last book of a series is always a hit or miss for me, but I adore this one! Chase and Ryan were amazing from the beginning and their chemistry was just BAM in your face. I loved this book and I can’t believe we’re at the end *cue sobs*
K Bromberg writes amazing romances and even though I really don’t like the characters who’s book was teased at the end, I’m really curious to see how it goes!
I am totally SWOON by Gunner Camden. This man has totally stolen my heart. Gunner did not have it easy. His past literally BROKE my heart. The man he is is all because of the hand he was dealt and when Chase Kinkade walks into his life he feels something he never thought was possible. I absolutely adored Chase. The letter that brought her to Gunner is utter fate. These two were made for each other. I loved watching them fall in love. The ending is absolutely PERFECT! A true dream come true.
“Love isn’t something you set out to achieve. It’s something that happens unexpectedly.”
I’m not a fan of small town romances, but it’s no surprise that K.Bromberg made me a fan with this novel. Gunner and Chase are my favorite couple within this series. I adored their fun, lighthearted, and easy going interactions. Their chemistry was obvious and undeniably from the beginning. They were absolutely perfect together.
Chase is a goal oriented type of person and I could feel her struggle to let life go where it may and to let life just happen…to let love happen. Gunner has a second chance at life and has yet to allow himself to truly live. Even though his mantra to himself is to live in moment. Chase pushes him to realize he deserves happiness and love. Both have loss in their pasts, which neither of them truly grieved over and moved on, so together they find the ability to do so and in the process, they unexpectedly find love. Love that neither of them are looking for. They find a home in each other.
This is one of those stories where you can sit and read at a leisurely pace and just enjoy it for what it is….a romance. If you’ve read the other books in this series, you won’t want to miss out on sisters story.
4 stars
The youngest Kinkade sister is about to meet her match. KSM received a letter 5 years after it was sent. It’s got her so intrigued that she sets out to find him. She not only wants to see about recruiting him for the agency for a PR event but to see if he’s as interesting as his letter. What she doesn’t realize is that Gunner will end up being more than just a veteran who left baseball behind. More than a man who was betrayed by someone who should have loved him most. He’ll end up being the one. Her one.
Chase knows she has to tell Gunner the truth of who she really is and why she’s really in Destiny Falls. But she’s been loving her time in his town, loving being with him. She can put off the truth and hope he’ll forgive her if (when) he finds out the truth. Right?
Wow. Yep, wow. Hard to Lose has so much heart, so emotional and beautifully told. The youngest sister is the most straightforward one, the one least looking for love, for a relationship, and yet, she’s starving for both. That she finds both with a beautiful man (both inside and out) like Gunner just made my heart smile, made me swoon. I loved this story. I loved how sweet Gunner was, how perfectly well he and Chase fit together, and how sexy their story was. Though the Kinkade sisters’ stories have been told, there’s one more person in their life, specifically Chase’s, whose story is next, and it’s going to be good. I can’t wait to read as he finds his redemption.
Oh my heart. I was completely taken with this story. There are many reasons why this book was a solid five stars, but honestly the main reason undoubtedly was because of Gunner.
Hard to Lose is the fourth book in the Play Hard series. In this installment we get Chase’s story, the youngest Kinkade sister. I obviously had no idea what to expect, but I was definitely surprised at the the amount of emotions that poured out of me.
Chase is a beast at what she does. She’s successful and gets the job done in whatever she sets her mind to. She’s goal-oriented and career driven, simply put she’s a badass. I loved her take charge attitude and tenacity as well. More importantly though I really enjoyed watching her realize that the things she thought she didn’t want are the things that barreled right into her life without warning and there was no stopping them, especially opening herself up as well as her heart to love.
Gunner, Gunner, Gunner be still my freaking heart. From the start I was a goner, my heart was claimed from the very first page. Gunner undoubtedly is the most selfless and amazing man. His story hurt, the things he went though pierced my soul. He deserved every good thing and most importantly to be happy. I loved his big and giving heart and it was one of the many reasons that added to the incredible man Gunner is. I loved him, I loved him, I loved him.
Chase and Gunner brought the fire. The attraction between them was undeniable and the chemistry was hot, hot, hot. I loved the playfulness between them and their banter. I also loved that they were vulnerable and confided in each other which ultimately led them to fully trust one another. They really and truly made the perfect pair.
Hard to Lose brought all the feels. Chase and Gunner’s story was heartwarming and beautiful. Their romance was filled with an abundance of hope and healing. This book became my favorite in the Play Hard series, so incredibly fantastic.

Hard to Lose by K. Bromberg is the fourth book in what has to be one of my favorite series ever, Play Hard. I have adored every single book in this series but let me just say, Hard to Lose is hands down my absolute favorite. From the very first page to the last, I was completely enraptured with this fictional world Ms. Bromberg created. This story was pure magic and I seriously never wanted it to end.
Chase and Gunner were two incredibly well written characters. Different in so many ways, but at their very core, they were the same. They are both so used to showing the world one version of themselves that when they meet, neither were expecting anything. Sparks fly and heat up the pages as Chase and Gunner get to know each other. But nothing is as it seems and secrets are kept hidden. Will they get a fighting chance that both so deserve?
I loved every single thing about this story. The chemistry, the desperation, the friendships…truthfully- just all the feels, so much that it kept me glued to the pages needing to know how it was all going to play out. Ms. Bromberg continually blows me away with her skill but this story was magical. You guys seriously don’t want to miss it! Highly recommend reading it!
Gunner is ex-military, damaged, and scarred from a childhood where he always came in second. Chase Kincade is the youngest of four sisters. The driven one. The one who doesn’t want the complications that come with love. She’s in Destiny Falls looking for a former soldier, trying to find out what happened to the his dreams of playing ball.
This book. Sigh. There is so much in book. It makes me wish this was the first of the series because I want more Chase. More Nix. More Gunner. Just more!
I am glad that there is a fifth book in the series that will focus on Finn Sanderson but I really do want more Gunner and MORE Nix!
Prepare yourself for an emotional and beautiful ride with Chase Kincaid and Ryan Gunner Camden.
Ryan had it all. A promising pitching career but when his step father issues an ultimatum his world is changed in an instant. He never chose the military it was his punishment but he did his best to keep his fellow brothers safe but he feels that he failed them. Now years later he is still trying to pay for the sins he thinks he owes.
Chase Kincaid finds a letter from a soldier written years ago and now she feels the immediate connection with this young man. So much potential and so many years gone by. Can she find him?
Chase and Gunner were beautifully heartbreaking and made me feel every one of their emotions. When the lies are finally out, is there a way that love can heal these broken hearts.
This couple had such chemistry and wonderful smart witty banter that you couldn’t help but be pulled into. Gunnar is sweet, sexy, a hero and so compassionate and Chase is smart, sassy, and so pulled into this swoon worthy hero! Loved it !

This was such a great story that I couldn’t put it down. The thought of Chase chasing down the sender of a lost letter sounds romantic even though she may not have had the purest intentions at the start. Then she meets Gunner, and they are instantly attracted to each other. Gunner is such a sweetheart, one of those “unicorns” that are out there, and he is really a great guy. The chemistry between Gunner and Chase is sizzling hot and their relationship grows. As a secret between them tears them apart, they just need to get past it to reach their HEA. I thought the ending was wonderful and can’t wait to read the next book.
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opin

I can’t lie, books where one of the characters is keeping a secret from the other are hit or miss for me.
It had to be handled in such a way that I believe the heart of the one keeping the secret is in the right place.
With Gunnar and Chase, I absolutely believed in them, in the relationship they had, and the reason for keeping the secret that ended up looking a lot worse than it actually was….as secrets often do.
The strength of this book is in the characters themselves, you get to know them as people, and that lets you get to know them as a couple in a way that makes you feel invested and connected.
A lot of the plot revolves around Chase, why she is there, and the reasons that this becomes an issue, so I don’t want to give it away by giving details as to why this one worked for me, I can just say that if, like me, you tend to go into books where there is a secret with one eye closed, you can happily enjoy this one.
I enjoyed and recommend this title.
I only read the first book in this series before, but it works well as a stand alone. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything important. It was a little predictable, but I enjoyed watching it play out. It was emotional, and gunner was not what I expected when I started it. I loved watching the transformation both together and as individual. I don’t read many stories that feel like fate, but thats tge feel i got here and i really liked it. I did find it hard at first with chase’s name. Sometimes it takes me a little while to settle in with female characters with traditionally male names.
Pull Out the Tissues – I’m Not normally a Book Cryer!!
My word, this has emotions that will rip your heart out! It also has happy emotions which may still require the tissues. It has dancing in the rain, Lego contests and a relationship that brings out your very best.
When your heart is stolen by a man who cannot stand deceit, and you’ve already told one white lie…. Then you must build on it to maintain the original lie– can you ever straighten things out, or are you doomed to failure.
Likeable and relatable characters, who have all felt loss. They give back to others because they can. Until now they have guarded their heart, but this relationship is special.
This is my first story from this author, and I am so thrilled to finally read her stories. I will definitely be pursuing more – this one will stick with you!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Achingly sweet and completely absorbing, Hard to Lose is full of emotion, angst, heartbreak, romance, steam and lovable characters! I can’t wait to read Hard to Love, Book 5 of the Play Hard Series.
