New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, brings you a romance about love, forgiveness, and living every day to the fullest. I know finding and signing a military vet to the agency is a long shot–but it’ll be good press just letting him try out. That’s what I tell my family, rather than admit I can’t get the letter he wrote us five years ago out of my head. But what I tell the bartender … of my head.
But what I tell the bartender in his hometown is a lie. I know veterans protect each other. So I pretend to be a graduate student.
Sparks. Flame. Fire. I accidentally got in too deep.
I didn’t expect to develop feelings for Gunner Camden.
And there’s no way I can admit to my lies now, not without destroying what we share. So I’ll keep faking it.

There are two versions of me: before, and after deployment.
Back then I was a screwup kid. I’d lie, cheat, and steal my way out of everything. My only love was baseball.
After I started fighting, I found out there had been another path for me. One that involved my dream. But by then I had seen too much.
The old me was dead, so I put my dreams to rest, too.
Then Chase Kinkade walks into my bar and reminds me that life is meant to live. No regrets.
Fresh. Happy. Hopeful. I can start to see a new dream, with her.
But sometimes things are too good to be true… and dishonesty is the one thing I can’t forgive.

Each time I read a book in this series, that book and its couple are my favorite. So of course I felt that way with Hard to Lose. I loved Gunner and Chase’s story. It was so real and emotional and heartfelt. I enjoyed getting the background on Gunner and seeing how that leads to the man he is in the present. He was a man of integrity and I just loved him. How he acted with those around him was so great. Chase is the baby of the Kincade sisters. It was her turn to find the one. I loved the deep connection between Gunner and Chase. They just seemed to fit and it was lovely seeing their relationship progress throughout the story. However it wouldn’t be smooth sailing for this couple and I was intrigued with how it would all play out. It was also great to hear from the three previous Kincade sisters and the dad. Overall Hard to Lose was a magnificent read. I truly enjoyed the Play Hard series.
This is an honest review for an arc received.
“Love isn’t something you set out to achieve. It’s something that happens unexpectedly.”
Chase Kincade is the youngest of the Kincade sisters. While all of her other sisters are in love and having children, these things are the furthest from Chase’s mind. When a letter written to her father, that has been lost in the mail for 5 years, crosses her desk, Chase is determined to find out who Ryan Camden is. The letter emits feelings Chase can’t explain. She needs to know what has happened to him. Challenged by her sister to find a cause she is determined to find Ryan Camden. What she never expects is to find a quaint military town, and a hot bartender that she can’t stop thinking about. There she meets hot bartender Gunner. Chase can’t deny the feelings Gunner brings out in her, but she knows that their time together has an end date. But can a little white lie destroy something Chase didn’t even know she wanted?
“After I’m done with you, Chase, I assure you that kissing will never seem overrated again.”
Ryan “Gunner” Camden is a war hero and bar owner. He’s just trying to put back the pieces of his life after returning home from his deployment. When a fellow soldier tells him to write a letter, he does just that, to Kenyon Kincade, Chase’s father. After returning home from deployment, Gunner volunteers his time with children who’ve lost a parent while serving. He still uses baseball as his therapy. He was never expecting Chase Kincade to waltz into his bar with her confidence and sassy banter. He’s drawn to her in a way he’s never been drawn to anyone. He doesn’t do relationships, however Chase makes him want for more. His deal breaker is deception. Will this be the deal breaker between him and Chase?
“Because from here on out, every time it rains, you’ll stop and think of me.”
5 million swoon worthy stars!!! K. Bromberg slayed my heart with this story. The emotions that she draws out of you. You can’t help but root for Ryan and Chase. The connection and chemistry these two immediately have with one another is undeniable. Their banter, wittiness, and tension is off the charts. You can’t help but cheer on Ryan and everything this man has been through and seen. I loved seeing Chase come into her own, and finally find what her sister’s have. These two are perfect for each other. This is my favorite book of the series and that is saying something, since I love them all. Well done Mrs. Bromberg!! This is a must read!!
“That somehow, our two broken and jagged halves made one incredible whole.”
I loved this book and it was a great ending to this series. Gunner was the best and this love story was wonederful.
Gunner has absolutely solidified himself as my favorite Kristy hero and he is without question a hero. Gosh I have a such soft spot for soldiers & ball players…and Gunner checks both those boxes plus he is sweet, sexy, funny, compassionate, he gives himself freely to help military kids who have lost a parent. Oh my goodness is there anything that he can’t do? I love how genuine he is with Chase & how he lets himself fall for her. Most importantly how he goes after what he wants. NO REGRETS—no truer words to live by.
I’m so happy that Chase has found her peace in Gunner. Their story may have started with a white lie but there’s no denying that they are each others soulmate.
YASS! I looove our Easton Wyler Easter egg and I’m actually looking for to Finn’s story;) can’t wait to see how he will redeem himself.
Hard to Lose is simply wonderful. I love what we get with Chase. She changes so much in this one. Gunner just steals your heart the more you get to know him. He has his demons but the passion that pours out of him takes over it all. The chemistry is so strong between Chase and Gunner. You feel every bit of passion that drips from them. I couldn’t get enough of Chase and Gunner. I loved the path K. Bromberg brings us when it comes to Chase and Gunner. You will not be able to put this one down. Gunner and Chase are my favorite Play Hard couple yet. I so cannot wait for Finns book. Go one click this one.
This book is definitely a page-turner. Gunner, a military veteran, is such a great guy, good-looking, and as nice as they come. He’s the owner of a bar now and dedicates his life to the men that were left behind. The night that Chase walks into his bar, he thinks maybe there is a chance for him to have happiness. Chase has a very big secret she is keeping from Gunner and I was on edge waiting for him to find out. I kept wondering when is it going to come out and what will be the fall-out. It was without a doubt worth the wait. There’s a gambit of emotions between these two. Really a compelling story.
Wow, what can I say about this book to give it the justice it deserves! Kristy pulled me in right from the first page, and I could not put this one down! 5 amazing stars for this one! Grab it asap!
We meet Gunner, he’s had a tough life, and a tyrant of a step father who will make you cringe, a mother who will not stand up for her son. his step father takes every opportunity to put him down and forces his to join the Army. What happens next shapes him into the man he is today!
Chase, the baby of the bunch, has always been goal oriented, give her a challenge and she can’t resist turning it down. So when she comes across a letter from a soldier, who should have been a baseball star, she’s determined to find him and right his wrong. But along her journey she meets Gunner, and she’s immediately drawn to him.
This story was so well written, the struggles that Gunner went through you will feel deep down inside, and you will swoon at the man he’s become, along with cheering on Chase! Grab this book asap!
Chase goes on a search to find a veteran who passed up baseball for the military. The letter, they received telling them, arrived 5 years after it was sent. Something about it calls to her to find him and learn his story. Ryan let go of baseball but not by his own choice. The horrors of war change a man. Can he even consider letting someone love him?
This is my favorite of the Kincade sister’s books. The men they fall in love with have all had heartbreak and tough pasts but something about Gunner calls to me. This was a sit down and read almost the entire book in one sitting kind of story for me. Love the fact that Chase finds herself on this journey as well. I laughed, fell in love and was teary eyed at Hard to Lose. K Bromberg hit a home run with Hard to Lose!
