Truthfully, I hate all things zombie. There, I’ve said it. BUT, I’m addicted to Nikki Landis books and she tends to have a sick fascination with them. With that being said, she can take these undead creatures and encase them with a story so fascinating, loving, fearful and heart-pounding that I finish before I realize I’ve read that far into it. Because Nikki is one of my go-to, one-click authors, I was thrilled when I was offered a copy of this book and proud to give my honest and voluntary review.
This is a non stop page turner Zombie Apocalypse read. I first read Lone Survivor (ps- you’ll DEFINITELY want to grab that book too) were taken back to the beginning of it all, Ground Zero and are on our toes constantly running and looking round the corner with everyone else as they continue to fight and try and survive. We’re given a fast paced non stop action story, if that’s up your ally then you need to bump this to the top of your TBR list and one click your copy now.
Ground Zero
We got a zombie novella! This was definitely not what I expected. So we start off with the story of of getting it all set up with the mandatory testing and for everyone and an outbreak of flu viruses. Then bam we take a left turn and here come the zombies. So we meet Natalie, Zeke, Ty, and Tara in this short book. They are now in survival mode! There is a lot that happens in such a short time but it keeps you on your toes.
First thing I have to say is that I love all things zombies, but this is a FIVE star read that got me chomping at the bit and ready for the next installment. It was great to get my hands on a zombie book that is different. Ground Zero is incredibly fascinating. It is a fast paced read that draws you in from the very beginning. It explains all the weird nuances that people noticed were “off” and by the time anyone realizes something is terribly wrong, the world goes to hell in a handbasket. It’s gripping and suspenseful and a bit creepy at times. Reading the story and realizing those nuances could really happen definitely adds to the creep factor. I am hooked and now off to read the next one!
The most awesome zombie book ever! I loved this book! It will grab you immediately because this author is just that awesome! Great, realistic characters (except for the zombie part haha), and a storyline that will knock your socks off! I cannot wait to read the next book!

A story told as real as what a future Zombie Apocalypse could be. The story made me stop and think about what could actually happen. I can’t wait to see where the series takes us
This was a great read I enjoyed the well developed and engaging characters and the storyline flowed smoothly from the beginning to the end. Looking forward to more.

I wish the Walking Dead would have made these part of their script. Gripping action, suspense and storyline won’t let you put this down. I don’t know how, but we even managed a sexy romance in with the decay. If you like zombies, you’ll love this book!
This is a gripping story filled with action, suspense, adventure, zombies with an ending that left me wanting more. The writing is great and although it’s a bit creepy just thinking this could really happen the creepiness just added to the story making it that much more interesting. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Such an Intense Beginning!!
Ground Zero is an amazing prequel to Lone Survivor. It is a rollercoaster ride of action and thrilling suspense sure to keep you highly entertained. Zeke and Natalie are thrown into an utterly terrifying situation – Zombies!! Their story is frightening but also very sexy. It was a nail bitter for sure! I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what was going to happen next.
Fantastic writing and storytelling. I can’t wait to read more as this story continues.
This is a great story with great characters full of action and suspense. The beginning of the zombie apocalypse.

Soooo, I may have to change my opinion on zombie books. I was always anti-zombie book, then I read Nikki Landis’ Lone Survivor and loved it. Then this one comes out and now I’m ready to beg for the next book because I need more!
Damn, I don’t even know where to start. This book actually is the lead up to the infection and the beginning, and Nat and Zeke and …
This is the perfect way to start the series, and get some more insight into how the virus is introduced into their world. I got so engrossed in the characters and their relationships and was so amazed with how they reacted to hell breaking out.

Ground Zero: An After Zombie Origin Novella (Last of Us Book 1) by Nikki Landis
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
I love me some Zombie books. They are the best. This series did not let me down. I have previously read book 2 in the series so I was excited to jump into book 1. Since this book was about a different cast of characters it didn’t matter the order to which you read but seeing as this book does explain the why of the outbreak, I would recommend reading it first. The characters in this story will cross over into other books with the characters from the next books…did that make sense?? LOL
This book is about brothers, Zeke and Ty, with Zeke’s girlfriend Natalie rounding out the main characters. The trio is watching the events of the flu epidemic followed by some dirty deeds with the cities drinking water.
The book is fast paced with lots of sext times in the reading as well. It’s a short novella but you get to see the beginning of the what happened when the city went to hell very quickly during the 4th of July celebration!!
Ground Zero is the lead-in to the Last of Us series, where the beginning of things pre-infection takes place. It’s fast-paced, and friends and lovers find themselves separated by the gloom and doom. A fresh eye on a story that takes on the TWD theme, but is an adventure all its own!
This is a story of the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. A story of friends and lovers, where they were, who they lost, and the plots of intrigue that led up to the demise of humanity. It is only the story of the first few hours, not the first year as the blurb states but it is still worth a read.
