My name is Kaeleen Donovan. I’m a Theosian-a minor goddess. They call me Fury. Oath bound to Hecate, I was charged from birth to hunt down Abominations who come in off the World Tree and send them back to Pandoriam. When the Thunderstrike — an ancient artifact from the time of the Weather Wars — is stolen by the Order of the Black Mist, Hecate orders me to find the magical device. The chaos … chaos magicians are out to upset the balance that Gaia instilled during the World Shift. But I soon discover that the leader of the Black Mist is out to do more than stir up trouble. He’s looking to set up a new world order with himself on the throne. Caught between two rival forces, will my friends and I be able to survive as we search for the Thunderstrike and attempt to stop a war that could bring about the end of the civilization?

I loved everything about this book. The background was necessary to make the story make sense. And I loved learning about each different character in the storyline. Spoiler: I hope Kaeleen and Tam get together in Book 2!
Fury is a minor goddess in service to Hecate in Seattle after the time of the World Shift. Others who join Fury on her quest are Jason, the man who raised Fury after her mother died; Tam, a Bonny Fae; and Tommy Tee, a street musician. Jason is a shape shifter in the hawk cast, and Tam can create glamours and heal wounds. She is also helped by Queet who is a kind of spirit guardian. Gaia, Goddess Mother of Earth, shifted the world after humans started using magic in their Weather Wars, threatening the survival of Earth itself. Quite a plot! It took me a while to get into this story, probably because everything was so new and foreign. But the early part of the book focuses on Fury and her work in removing Abom who come through into the world. After I was familiar with Fury and some basic concepts of this new world, the book was enjoyable and the quest made sense.
This was a unique premise for a book. Loved the mixing of ancient gods/ goddesses and modern technology. Well written, it had me drawn in by the first page.
I enjoyed the read. Post apocalyptic Seattle is an interesting place. I did enjoy some of her other books more.
I love her books! Great details and it feels like I am right there with the characters!!!
Good read
Interesting premise but didn’t inspire continuous reading.
This is the first book in the Fury Unbound series. It is an entertaining book about a Demi goddess who works with other unusual characters in order to keep the world safe from destruction.
Good read
This story follows a young lady named Kaeleen Donovan who also was given the nickname of Fury. She is a minor goddess called a Theosian who works for the Goddess Hecate. Her job is to fight and eliminate any demon abominations that come through to the modern world. Although this modern world is post apocalypse after after we went too far with our destruction of the environment and Gaia, the world god, had to intervene and perform a partial “reset”. Now we live with a mix of mythical beings and modern technology/society. Fury, with her friends are tasked with going after rogue magic users that are bent on using ancient artifacts of power to upset the world balance threatening another intervention from Gaia which is assumed will be complete destruction this time. This is just a very rough outline, the story and character interactions, reveals as we learn about the characters is well done and a very good read. Definitely will be looking at the rest of the series.
The story, storytelling, characters, and worldbuilding were done excellently, in my opinion. There were fae-characters that weren’t overwhelmingly simple or entirely traditional. The story was new and original rather than some sort of spin-off or tweaking from another great group of stories—that alone is worth a lot to me.
I lost interest in the first chapter. It is not my “style”.
Very good intro to this character named Fury, think she has great promise, looking forward to the next one!
I love the Characters, and the relationship to the God’s and their friends, in this series. I had to get the next book. This is a page turner and new something around the next page.
Fantastic book
Easy to read mix of all the gods of every culture/faith/mythology interacting chaos of modern world
It was fun reading.
This book was predictable. Fury was to be a strong fighter but it turns out she a wimp, untrained and lacks the magic she keeps talking about.
I really enjoyed this book and thought the world-building was unique. I really enjoyed Fury as a character and can’t wait to read more.
