One of the best second chance romances
I loved this second chance romance. It was really long time ago when I read a really good one and this particular one is placed really high on my list after I finished it. I started to read and was so immersed in the story that I didn’t even notice how quickly the time passed.
The read was really emotionally moving, it had this build up in the story line that kept me wondering what else there is to happen and this anticipation that I felt deep in my gut that was telling me “just wait, there’s for sure the other shoe to drop”. And let me tell you, the twists in the plot they didn’t disappoint.
Even if there’re a lot of emotions between the characters (not only main) to be discussed and situations to reconcile the read was low on angst. No bullying, no desire for revenge or drive for hurting others. The emotional roller-coaster and so called punch to the gut was delivered subtly and with appropriate dose so that I could fully enjoy the story but also could relate to what they felt. Very well written and thought through. Perfect ending and oh so romantic.
He never expected her to come back…

I lived most of my early childhood in a small town until my grandmother’s health started failing then my mother returned for me I wasn’t happy with the idea of moving across the country.
I even opened my own company soon after graduating from college.
I’d been working at the family bar the night I meet Jules she’d looked like a drowned rat and had wandered in looking
for a phone. She’d changed my life and it wasn’t that long afterwards when Jules became my whole world.
Then our baby girl was born she was the absolutely greatest thing in the world.
But Jules was having issues after Aubree Hope had been born.
One day while he was working his dad called saying Jules had brought the baby to him and that she was leaving.
Being a single dad scared him at first he’d been afraid he wouldn’t be able to care for her by himself.
Sitting in front of the pitiful dump she called home Zoey was beyond tired and the stupid window was acting up.
She’d left home years ago with her worthless boy friend at one time they’d been in a good place but now not so much anymore. She honestly wished he’d quit blarring the music so loud he’d almost got them kicked out.
She hadn’t expected to walk in to find drugs, booze, and trash everywhere nor her boyfriend with some naked chick.
Zoey should have known they never had any money and she’d always suspected he was cheating. This was the last straw
she was done.
Zoey made her way to the club house the only place she knew where to find her brother. The prospect in front of her was getting on her last nerve but finally he called someone who apparently
set him straight.
Drake had been surprised to see her after so long when Zoey left she stopped talking to any of them and seemed to drop of the face of the earth.
Now he was the only one to tell her about her dad who unfortunately hadn’t been a good parent he’d blamed Zoey for her mom leaving but he was dead.
Drake had been her very own super hero who at one time saved her from one stupid mistake to the next.
Zoey had been apprehensive about see her brother again but never had she expected him to treat her like that their dad use to say things like that to me.
Drake could understand Zayde being hurt and really angry but that didn’t give him the right to tear her down.
Zoey knew eventually they’d have to talk about the real reason she left and never came back until now.
At one time she’d tried to tell her brother
about the dirty dealings their dad and some of they other guys where involved in but he’d hadn’t believed her.
Drake didn’t realize just how bad the club had really been apparently before he and Zayde had cleaned house.
Drake finally felt good about his life
he had everything any man would have been proud to have his little love bug and Zoey the girl who stole his heart.
However his world takes one major blow when a shadow from his past shows up determined to wreck his new life.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Drake and Zoey fell in love basically the day they met. But neither thought they were what the other wanted/deserved. So they remained friends until Zoey leaves town for 6 years. Now she’s back, and they have both lived through a lot. Can they find a way to make it work? Or is it too late?
