Emotionally-tumultuous, and angsty, Forbidden Fate is one of my Top Ten Reads of 2020 Mary slayed this story
the words flowed off the pages like lyrical madness.. I couldn’t get enough my heart and soul are deliciously wrecked..
“This plot-twisting, gut-wrenching, Hauntingly beautiful, masterpiece That is forbidden fate Will keep you gasping and guessing all the way to the end..
My heart is torn apart with every fissure..
Riveting, broken, brilliant, and imperfect.. This book consumes your soul and keeps you entranced with every turn of the page…
10 Gut-wrenching masterful stars!
Oh Gray. I feel like the odd-ball because I’ve loved him since Stolen Soulmate. He’s such a perfectly hidden hero. Beneath his bold, brash, outward personality hides his true character. We got a touch of this in Heartless Hero and in spades in Stolen Soulmate.
Forbidden Fate picks up right where Stolen Soulmate left off. This book was a hard read because it’s wrought with so much build up. Gray and Story are such perfectly written ill-fated lovers. I think that’s what I liked most about this story. As much as they both yearned for one another, circumstances always made it so that their love seemed impossible.
The twists and turns that this author throws out, the family drama and OM/OW drama were all good additions to the story. I couldn’t help shake my head at some of the missteps these characters made, but I knew to trust where this author was leading us. She’s quickly became one is my favorite authors because she’s not afraid to go there.
OMFFFFFGGGGG!! This book was a HIGHLY anticipated read for me and boy it did not disappoint. If you had read Stolen Soulmate, which you absolutely need to before this one, you know all of the emotions from that book are tripled in this one. This is one heck of a roller coaster ride that never seems to end.
This triangle, square or whatever other shape these characters are is complicated and the web just seems to get bigger and bigger. I am trying to be vague with this as not to give ANYTHING away. Just believe me you need to one click this book ASAP and have plenty of kindle insurance and any other necessities close by when reading this one.
I had only started reading Mary Catherine Gebhard this year and I need to read ALL of her books because I just need to she is that amazing.
Full RTC. Just know, that I am SHOOK, this was AMAZING, & everyone NEEDS it.
Ok. It’s been like 20 days, I think I finally can maybe get something out that isn’t complete gibberish.
I AM SO MAD. I went into this book feeling one way, and came out the other side feeling something totally different.
All of the characters did things that I wanted to beat them for. Nobody gets my mercy.
Story, what the heck man? What are you doing?
Gray. My dude. What on earth?
I’m still holding out hope, but I have to admit, it’s dwindling.
MCG stuns once again. Stolen Soulmate was going to be hard to follow, but Mary did an amazing job with Forbidden Fate. It starts immediately where SS ends, and we get lost in the world Gray and Story. I can’t wait to see where the story continues.
So I was so scared when I started this book, I was scared since I finished Stolen Soulmate. All I knew was that I was so angry at Gray and there was nothing he would be able to do to make me love him… I was wrong, I LOVE GRAY SO MUCH!!! Guys, this book had me crying and trying to catch my breathe.
Mary wrote this book in a way where you were on the edge of your seat, wanting more, and wanting to stop reading to catch a break but you just couldn’t put the book down. I will say this, there were two scenes that I wished didn’t happen, but other than that I really loved the book, I LOVED GRAY!!!!
This book. This book messed me up. I’m telling you, fucked with my mind, kinda messed up.
What in the actual hell did I read?
Okay. Okay. I think I’m ready. I’ve literally taken three days to fully digest this book and I still don’t know what to say. Mary Catherine Gebhard you’ve truly made me speechless.
I thought I prepared myself for this book. I understand Mary’s writing abilities and what she can do with the story, so I really shouldn’t have been surprised by anything that happened. But I was left speechless. I was not expecting really anything that happened, especially that ending. No matter what you do to prepare yourself for this book, I don’t think anything would help. Definitely just go into it with an open mind. Don’t get me wrong I really love this book. I did. But there are many things that I can’t get into detail about without giving anything away that made me doc a star for my review. I love Mary’s writing. I get sucked into the worlds that she builds. I thought this was a great book, it just left me disappointed to say the least. Which I am really sad and slightly mad about because I’ve been waiting forever for this book. I really wish I could give this five stars and maybe a few weeks after this book officially releases I can get into greater detail about why I didn’t give this five stars. I just really don’t wanna give it away for anybody. I had very high expectations for this book and it just didn’t hit that same level as Stolen Soulmate did.
I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Book: Forbidden Fate
Author: Mary Catherine Gebhard
Rating: 4/5 stars
“If this was a fairy tale, we would be the villains”
I have been delaying this for about 3 weeks now, I needed time to heal, time to process my thoughts but more than anything to give you the review you need when it comes to this soul breaking love story.
So, Forbidden Fate is book #3 in the Crowne Point series and it the follow-up to Grayson Crowne and Story Hale’s romance, but saying romance comes as a very vague way to describe their torturous yet passionate and all-consuming relationship.
This book had me on edge the whole time I was reading it. I felt so many emotions to the point I thought it was going to drive insane but in a good yet heartbreaking way. Mary Catherine Gebhard is an angel -looking little devil but her storytelling is out our this word, this woman made me face emotions I didn’t want to feel but she gave me no choice and to be quite honest even though at the moment it fucked me up, looking back I’m thankful for the reminder that love is more than what we see in movies or common romance stories, love is messy, hurtful to the point of tearing us apart. I do not think that’s an easy task for authors to achieve but Mary did, wonderfully so.
We need to talk about it, right? Was I expected to end on another cliffy? HELL NO! Was I happy about it? HOW BOUT’ NO! That completely blindsided me….. I felt so wrecked by the end of the book, hence why it took me 3 weeks to write the review. It’s every writer’s prerogative to take their books as they see fit and though I feel like to some extent the story was a bit dragging and some things were unnecessary to be in it, Mary has and had every right to include them. Maybe they were unnecessary for me but not to other readers and more importantly the author.
That been said, if you are ready to get your heart and dare I say soul to be wrecked, please read this book it’s was worth every single excruciating second of it. Now let’s just pray for Destroyed Destiny and let’s get ready for round 3, it might kill us but what gives… heartache is overrated.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review
Forbidden Fate by Mary Catherine Gebhard is book Three in the Crowne Point Series. This continues the story of Grayson Crowne and Story Hale. For this book you really should read the previous book ‘Stolen Soulmate’ first before starting this one. Stolen Soulmate left me lost and hurt for Story. Grayson seem cruel at times but he had his twisted reasons. This book and this series has you on a emotional roller coaster ride. One minute you are hating Grayson and crying for Story then you move another emotional break but with the feeling of hope. I cannot recommend this series or this author’s writing enough. I plan on reading more of her books especially after reading this series.
Holy Freakin Hades!!! DEAD Y’ALL! My heart, My Head, My Words. I’m a complete jumble of emotions and thoughts and there’s not a single bit of it I’m emotionally ready to articulate into words. Even if I could I wouldn’t. However it doesn’t matter because I’m just not ready!! The angst, the tears, the drama. Mary Catherine filled these pages with powerfully potent words tearing out my heart and soul with nothing short of Pure literary perfection!!
This book picks right up where my shattered heart was left at the end of Stolen Soulmate. We find ourselves back in the illustrious would of the rich and privileged. The Crownes and DuLac families living out the legacies of time honored traditions, and right in the center you have Grayson, Story, Lottie, and West. The puzzle pieces that will bring it all together.
Y’all!! I’m telling you..Fate was a dagger to the hearts of those who dared to believe in it, and I believed!!This book has left me an absolute gutted wrecked mess. I am not okay! I don’t know how to recover from this book. It was so phenomenal and beyond everything I was hoping for it to be. It knocked me on my fanny folks. Like blew me away with the unexpected shock of being nothing I could have predicted. Which I absolutely loved!! Shock value is priceless! In the most amazingly fantastic ways. I literally felt every emotion under the sun. I have cried, and swooned. Boy I wanted to throttle so many characters along the way. I decided to chuck my sweet kindle across the room out of frustration. (Okay, so I didn’t actually do it, but I did sit it on the coffee table and sure gave it a good long side eye from the couch though)
I’m telling you this book will leave you spent in the best way ever. You will cry all the tears, your body heat will rise, you will root… well for whomever you root for. You will want more, because there will NEVER be enough. It is oh so angsty and hot and steamy. You will long for more and probably need a re-read almost immediately. Buy this book today!! But heed my warning, my friends. Prepare to be shooketh to the core and left with the most epic of book hangovers.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book.
My Cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up :
-EVERYTHING!!This book is just that! Six Stars from me, because five just wouldn’t do this book justice! I’m still feeling this book weeks later.
– Sexual Temptation, Tension Galore!
I have never felt this kind of murderous rage and brutal heartbreak ever from a romance. Mary Catherine Gebhard crushed me completely in Forbidden Fate. This story is the very definition of angsty romance.
Grayson Crowne is the cruel playboy prince of Crowne Hall. He is not allowed to love. And so he is married to Lottie de Luc from another rich and powerful family. But his heart belongs to Story Hale, the servant. They are broken. They are forbidden. But they are also inevitable. How are they supposed to beat all the odds in this deceptive and corrupt world?
Mary Catherine Gebhard writes with too much honesty. You won’t believe the kind of sick hell she dragged my heart through till you read this story. Believe me, nothing and I mean absolutely nothing can prepare you for this twisted and epic romance. I don’t know where all the pieces in my heart are because the author shattered it. My heart aches, my soul bleeds and my body is exhausted. Because a human can take only that much of emotional torture! Grayson and Story has such beautifully toxic love. They have that one of a kind love that defies all rules, that goes beyond social bindings and that traverses time and space. I cannot tell you how many times I have stopped reading, closed the book and sat silently to absorb the emotional shock. I begged for her to stop the pain and also wanted more of the heartache. The story is beyond complex and I am just stunned by the depth of her writing. My heart breaks for the arrogant, cruel, possessive, dominating, misunderstood, lonely, helpless and caged prince of Crowne Hall. My heart cries for the abused, used, loyal, fierce, broken and adorable servant of Crowne Hall. I prayed for them. I busked in the glory of their passionate and intoxicating love.My soul screams in hate for all the ruthless, vile and disgusting people tearing apart two soulmates.
Forbidden Fate by Mary Catherine Gebhard is once in a lifetime reading experience. I cannot describe the all consuming, heart wrenching, soul deep and darkest emotions with words. This gave me dreams and nightmares.I can guarantee you will never be the same after reading Forbidden Fate.
Received ARC for honest review
I absolutely LOVED Stolen Soulmate…I mean flat out gaga over the book. I was so excited to read the conclusion of Story and Gray’s duet. While there was a lot of push and pull, it was short on story line. What we received was a lot of drama and to be honest, by 3/4 of the way through, I was kinda sick of it. It wasn’t leading anywhere, it was just…there. I need story as a book with just back and forth generated drama is boring. I’m not a lover of unnecessary and generated angst. There was also a decided lack of trust for two people that were supposedly soulmates. Some things occurred that should never happen between two people who love each other, no matter what is going on in their lives. It was at the 83% point that I decided I no longer cared about the outcome of this mess. What occurred is unforgivable and my belief in their love died. What is worse, it isn’t over and the wait will continue for those that wish to continue to read about them. I generously gave it 4 stars as I did finish it and though the content was not to my liking, the writing is still good. I’m sure there are people that will love it and maybe it was just me but I wish she had shortened the drama and completed the story.
Forbidden Fate (Crowne Point #3) by Mary Catherine Gebhard
5 MINDBLOWING STARS
And here I thought that Stolen Soulmate was mindblowing, but this…. Forbidden Fate is mindfk.
Forbidden Fate is the continuation of Stolen Soulmate and Hartless Hero by author Mary Catherine Gebhard.
You definitely MUST read Stolen Soulmate first, before you start Forbidden by Fate.
Grayson and Story’s story continues, and trust me, #youarenotready. You will not know what hit you.
Being one of my most anticipated reads of the year, it was way more than I expected. Never in a million years did I thought that the events of this book will go this way. It was beyond my expectations, way, way more.
I hated Gray in Stolen Soulmate. He became my most hated male character of all time. I has sure that nothing will get me to change my mind about him, but Mary Chatrine Ghebhard succeeded the impossible. I still want to kill him a little, but I want more to fk him senssless.
Go buy lots of wine and chocolate and prepare yourself to be blown away, because trust me, Gray & Story will shatter your soul.
Stolen Soulmate & Forbidden Fate by Mary Catherine Gebhard are definitely the most angstiest books I have ever read. I don’t think I ever hated & loved a book (well two books here)in the same time.

Block out everything for this one! This is CRAZY! My mind still hasn’t stop spinning. I gave myself a migraine because I couldn’t sleep until I finished at 5 a.m.
I love this author! I’m still pretty new to her, but I was thinking her books are like those dominos where they build the picture. All the sudden someone pushes the top domino and the rest fall. That’s what her books are like… Amazingly water-falling in to place. It had me holding my breath from one page to the next. It’s like the author has her hand to my throat. I don’t know from one page to the next if I am getting fresh oxygen, but I can bet I won’t get til she decides to let go.
Sometimes books pull me in, and it’s like a movie playing in my head. I can see every room. I can see the whole character. I’m not one that can slot in a model or actor, and keep them in my head. The character may remind me of that model or actor, but is never in my head that way. The first book the characters slotted into my brain, and they didn’t leave. Not just the main characters either, I had the whole cast.
I have several working theories on the plot… But I can’t share those other than to say none of my theories were right in the first book. She keeps me guessing. I know this is more about the author than the book, but I just can’t spoil any of it. I won’t.
I will say my heart stuttered every time he said “Answer your f****** phone.” Story’s sass “French fries, but only from France.” Had me snort laughing.
I can tell you that you don’t want to miss this book! Mary C. Gebhard is truly talented. How she makes those twists and turns I truly don’t know. Block out 48 hours. You probably won’t need that long. Once I got started, I couldn’t put it down. Ready or not…
There’s so much to say and I cant even say it!!! I’m physically and mentally unable to put into words just what this book did to me!!!
Full review will come on release day because you all deserve to go in blind… it’s worth it!
Update… Forbidden Fate was an emotional rollercoaster. Mary puts you threw an emotional ringer and doesnt let you out.
Gray loves Story and wants to be with her but you know Grandpa Crowne!!!
Story just wants freedom
West, well what is West after, what’s his stake in this game?
Lottie, my favorite messed up character, molded to be who her parents want her to be.
I’m invested in the Crowne’s and Du Lac’s. Mary spins and spins and spins a story of anguish that puts these four characters on the front line of each other’s craziness.
Without giving to much away I’m just going to tell you this. This series is a must read, you want to find out how it ends! Will Gray and Story get their happily ever after? No book has left me at the edge of my seat, holding my breath as much as this series.
#TeamDuLac
If I thought Stolen Soulmate ripped my heart and soul out, well that was nothing compared to Forbidden Fate! This hands down topped it completely. To the point I don’t even think I have a heart or soul left! Mary most definitely lives up to her name of Reaper of Hearts.
Continuing from where Stolen Soulmate left off, my heart was forever in my throat from the very beginning until the end. Story and Grayson’s story is one that will stay with me always. Their journey is full of twists and turns. Plenty of angst that will have you on the edge of your seat. And the love they have for each other is so completely all-consuming, you will be biting at the bit, just wanting them to get their HEA.
Mary has truly outdone herself with Forbidden Fate. I am in complete and utter awe of her storytelling. Even though I cursed her a lot while reading the book for breaking my heart and soul yet again. I don’t have a bad word to say about this book as it was truly magnificent. Hands down a top read for me this year! I for one cannot wait to see what else is in store for the Crowne Series.

“ℎ ’ . ℎ .“
Holy freakin hell, I’m in post Forbidden Fate recovery and need something to calm my nerves— STAT!!
Forbidden Fate is ℎ I’ve anticipating since Stolen Soulmate, and it has blew my world to oblivion, Mary Catherine Gebhard has detonated an emotional time bomb and set off a tidal wave of shattered dreams leaving shrapnels of forbidden desire embedded in my soul.
MCG remains true to her beautiful poetic and lyrical writing wrapped in delicious temptation. My heart has been destroyed but still it beats in hope that all will be well.
Forbidden Fate is not for the faint hearted, the level of angst can only be described as out of this world angsty, I can still feel the pain clawing at my gut.

NB: You must read Stolen Soulmate (Crowne Point #2) as this book is a continuation of Story and Grayson’s story.
This book!! Read all day and stayed up until 2am to finish it. I feel wrung out and devastated! I honestly don’t know what to do with myself.
“I’d once thought Snitch was poison ivy, but getting her out of me was going to be like ripping out thousand-year-old tree roots.”
Grayson and Story AKA Snitch are caught in a diabolical net. Every time Grayson tries to do something to keep her safe, he ends up making things worse. Story is helpless to walk away when her heart and her only family live at Crowne Point.
This story almost drove me mad! I was frustrated, hopeful, excited and horrified. The author wove a tale with such tightly knotted skeins – so hopelessly knotted that I had to wonder how it was going to end. My heart broke for Grayson. He was trying to keep people happy and placate his enemies. He was just one man with no powerful allies. I was holding my breath and clutching my imaginary pearls because this guy!! His compulsion and his actions whenever Story was around was singular and determined in the face of censure and criticism.
“Grayson is a poet, but his lips are his pen, and his kiss is his poetry. And I’m frantic for it.”
Story is one tough woman. Honestly, I don’t know how she kept pushing forward every day. Life kept dealing her rubbish hands of cruelty, derision and impossible choices. My heart bled for her. Who could she trust? Who could she turn to? Could she really rely on Grayson?
“I couldn’t give her anything but this notebook. My hopes. My dreams. Because, forever, they belong to her.”
The air was electric between them whenever they were in close proximity and everything else just faded into the background. I felt the tiredness in their bones from fighting just to get through each day, but when they were together, in the quiet of darkness, they were just Story and Gray – equals, lovers, truth. Like the first novel, this book was such a contrast of cruelty and beauty. There were some truly beautiful moments between them that were full of promise, rapture and hope.
“I want to put bruises on your body. I want to put ink in your soul. I want you to do the same to me. Forever.”
Story and Gray’s tale has left a stain, as indelible as permanent ink, on me. I will think about their twisted love story for a really long time.
Gripping from the first page Forbidden Fate was a consuming read that wrecked my emotions. This book was one I’ve been eagerly anticipating and it was more than worth the wait. Grayson and Story blew me away with their angsty and gripping love story. My heart ached, I was a blubbering mess at times, ranted next yet I couldn’t get enough of these two. I mistakenly believed I couldn’t love Grayson any more than I already did but he sauntered in and stole away with another piece of my heart. Story’s fierceness this time made me want to stand up and cheer her on when my heart wasn’t breaking for her. I enjoyed watching the growth both Greyson and Story underwent even in the moments where I cursed that I couldn’t reach through my Kindle and knock some sense into them. Grayson and Story’s story isn’t easy, matter of fact it’s gutwrenching at times but their love is unforgettable and tragically beautiful.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
I only had one rule: don’t fall in love with the cruel prince. I broke it. When the clock struck twelve, I went back to being a servant. He promised to let me go with my heart in pieces…but Grayson Crowne always was king at breaking promises. I refuse to let him lock me in a tower. I have no choice but to take the only out offered me-another cruel prince. Refuge in a man I loathe. Rescued from the man I love. I want to forget Grayson, forget Crowne Hall, and hide, however fate has other plans. But if Grayson and I are fated, the our fate is forbidden. Our happily ever after will only end one way…in heartbreak.
Forbidden Fate is the third book in Mary Catherine Gebhard’s Crown Point universe. you have to have read Stolen Soulmate first or you are going to be lost in Forbidden Fate. This book will pick up where we left off in Stolen Soulmate. I don’t even want to tell you a thing about this story and ruin anything for you. I think anything you say about the book will give some spoiler away and that makes this a hard review to write. I will tell you that this story is fast paced, will have you on the edge of your seat and when you finish it you will not be the same. It is a really great book and will tear at your heart strings and leave you reeling. A story of a girl, the man she loves and the cruel prince who wants her to love him. If only he could be that man!!
