Perhaps he should have stayed at home.
I thought about this book for days after I’d digested the final few pages…Jim Ody, author of Lost Connections
An eye-opening, honest and brutal story, Fifty Years of Fear is a cleverly written book. As always, Ross Greenwood draws you in until you’re completely invested with the characters… Tara Lyons, bestselling author of the DI Hamilton series.
The more I read, the more I wanted to read. There were a lot of nice lines throughout, and the humour took the edge off the awful things that happened… Tony Forder, author of Bad to the Bone.
An unmissable, heart-wrenching thriller… Netta Newbound, top-selling author of The Watcher
Told with such insight and depth, the characters felt very real to me and Vinnie, one of the two brothers, ended up breaking my heart! … Jane E James, author of haunting thriller, The Crying Boy.
This is one of those books that long after I have forgotten the details I will still remember how it made me feel. It’s a much used phrase, but I feel like I’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster and need a wee bit of recovery time. This is the first time I have read anything from Ross Greenwood and was impressed by his storytelling and the way the characters, particularly Vinnie, felt so real. This wasn’t always comfortable to read but it is well worth enduring the discomfort for what is a cleverly constructed piece of writing. Highly recommended.
Right from the first chapter, I was hooked. This is the first book I have read by Ross Greenwood and I loved his style of writing; the story flows easily and you are drawn in by his characters.
My first read of Ross Greenwood I must say I really enjoy his writing style. It flows along beautifully.
I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping tale of misfortune and adversary.
Ross Greenwood’s characters are convincingly-drawn and the story held me in its grip the whole way through.
A fantastic read with brilliant characters. I really felt for Vinnie. It had me gripped from start to finish. 5*. Highly recommended.

This is a strong story, full of revelations & hidden trysts. I enjoyed the ‘prison years’ chapters as the author wrote as though from first-hand experience but some of the earlier chapters fell flat. It was as though I was waiting for some huge twist that never came. I’ve read better books by Greenwood so will try another.
Another beautifully written book by Greenwood. He’s an extremely talented author. The foreshadowing has to be some of the best in any book I have read. It’s a complex but still believable plot. A must read!
Don’t usually read this type of story. Liked it. Would read this author again
Read it. Enjoyed it. Recommend it.
I found the story very sad, but well worth reading. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed this novel, especially the unique and refreshing format, Each chapter represented a year in the life of one man and his family. I love the originality of the delivery of this heart wrenching story. I recommend this book.
Good read.. Vincent is an interesting and complex character with a big heart.
This book was tragic in it’s depiction of a man’s life over 50 years from childhood to adult. Very unpredictable and several twists. The main character was flawed but you had to feel sorry for him. Very well written.
Boring.
Excellent reading
awesome
thought provoking, moving story that is upsetting due to its possible reality
This is a truly focused memoir , illustrating life’s lessons learned and making the best of a bad situation. Made me realize I have nothing to complain about.
Great read,
Ross Greenwood writes a novel that will be sure to have you turning pages well into the night. Fifty Years of Fear brings to light some fantastically written characters. You will soar, and cry, the main character Vincent. He was a good man who tried to help a uncared for youth, albeit maybe he went about it all the wrong way. Regardless, the punishment didn’t fit the crime and you will feel your emotions on a large rollercoaster with this book. This one, is one that will stay with you forever…
This book left me rushing back for more Ross Greenwood, as his flair for writing is one you’ll not forget. The lovely English accent is a great touch, for us Americans who adore it.

I read this on Kindle, then bought the paperback, it was that good! The author’s writing style mixed with humor is unique. Can’t wait to read more from this guy.
Good story
writing was good, just the story line was tragic and for me, depressing. Others may feel differently….
This book was mostly about prison and was told from the viewpoint of a seriously damaged individual.
I really did not care for this book.
