Abby Bartlett is well aware that everyone thinks she’s in love with her best friend Brian. He is, after all, the type of man a nice girl should be with–the polar opposite of the bad boy–the kind of guy who didn’t let his wife’s decade-long illness stop him from showering her with a lifetime of love every second until her dying day. Yes, Brian has been the yardstick against which Abby has … measured all other men. But everyone’s wrong; she couldn’t possibly be in love with him.
Because she’s never once allowed herself that option.
It’s taken a while but Brian Sullivan has finally come to terms with being a widower at the age of thirty, surviving the woman he spent half his life loving, a third of it losing. Truth is though, he wouldn’t have ‘survived’ any of it really had it not been for Abby–sweet, incredible Abby–the woman he’s never once had to picture his life without, never realized he couldn’t truly live without. Until now. Now that he’s finally able to love her the way she deserves, the way he knows she wants to be loved…by his brother.
Who’s giving him exactly one chance to speak now or forever hold his peace.
Note: This is NOT a standalone. This is the second book in a three-book serial.
This three-book serial is part of the CAN’T RESIST series. Books #1-3 (Sullivan Brothers “Nice Girl” trilogy) must be read in order. While Book #4 is a separate standalone (the other brother’s happily ever after), it is recommended that it be read after the trilogy. Books #1-3 are also available as a bundled boxed set.

more
This is a series of cliffhangers. Having said that, the storyline was basically her loving two brothers. One, Brian was her best friend whose wife died from Huntington’s Disease. He has a child who she dearly loves. However, her true passion is Conner, the rich lawyer who only stays with his women for one month and warns them of this going into the relationship. Book 1 is their story, Book 2 is her story with Brian and honestly I did not buy Book 3 as I read the reviews and found out what happened. Could have been one book not 3!
I enjoyed this book of the series most.
This was a great second book to the series . It ends on a cliff hanger you need to read all the books in the series. The characters are great and there is a lot of emotion and heartache. You will love the series.
Very entertaining
I couldn’t finish this book, I didn’t even make half way. The plot seemed pretty straight forward but the lead female character was annoying, as was the whole cast of characters. I never leave a bad review, and maybe I was just looking for more? It was free so I give it a 3 because I am sure it will be a good read for someone, just not me.
It made me angry
You really need to read all three books in the series. It is not stand-alone.
I have to admit I found this book rather interesting. After reading the first book and feeling the passion between Abby and Conner I was a little thrown off to read the same passion between Abby and Brian. I want to really like Abby and Brian as a couple but with the little hints of her feelings for Conner thrown in there (and then that ending!) I just don’t know if I can. I love the Brian loves so strongly but I have a hard time believing that he “fell in love” with Abby while he was still deeply in love with his wife. Though on the other hand I do feel so bad for him and everything that he had to deal with at such a young age. Loved Skyler, she was so loving, silly and strong. I’m undecided on how I currently feel about Abby though. I’ll be tackling the next book so I can answer that question for myself! I have this box set and will be adding my review to the box set once I’m done but I wanted to add each books review separately as well.
If I wasn’t in love with series at the end of book one I sure am now and read this one in one day !!! Connor has left Abby, and left her shattered, now his Brother Brian wants to pick up the pieces. Abby has been best friends with Brian and effectively mother to his daughter for many years, all through Brian’s wife and childhood sweethearts devastating illness and subsequent death. Now Brian feels at last he is ready to love again, he is ready to love Abby, but can she forget Connor? Can Brian get Abby to love him more than she ever loved Connor. This book is full anguish and heartache for both Brian and Abby. Brian trying to convince Abby that although he loved his late wife with all his heart and will never forget her, he can and does love her just as much. Abby who is not sure if she can just “forget” what she had Connor and give her love to Brian. Then there’s Skylar, Brians daughter whom Abby has effectively been mother to, she makes it clear she wants Brian and Abby to get together. After what can only be described as a turmoil of emotions and events which leave both Brian and Abby scared for the future, you start to see them really coming together – or do they? —- Where is book 3 I need it NOW
Will she? Won’t she?
This is the second book in the Nice Girl Trilogy. You do need to read book 1 for this book to make sense to you. In the previous book, Abby was with Conner. He left to allow his brother his opportunity to prove to Abby that he loves her and they should be together. Abby has spent 9 years as Brian’s best friend, helping him when his wife suffered with Huntington Disease. She’s became a fixture in his life and an honorary mother to his daughter Skylar.
I wasn’t as happy with this book as the previous one as I don’t like how Abby is going between the brothers and their relationship suffers. However, this series is so well written, you are able to empathize with all the characters. At the same time, I really need book 3 to find out what happens!
I received a complimentary copy of this book courtesy of L. Woods PR and am voluntarily reviewing it.
From an outsider looking in one would deduct that Abby and Brian are involved, they spend copious amounts of time with one another, share outings together with his daughter, and seem to be embroiled in a happy little love affair. But honestly that really isn’t the case, they do spend time with one another, but only as friends, and have remained completely platonic during their long friendship; mainly because Brian has been nursing a broken heart due to the loss of his wife.
Abby has been the one to help him hold it together, keep him and his daughter on task, and been the one to brighten his life on some of his darkest days. There is honestly no way he could survive without her, she means the world to him and his daughter, but unfortunately she also means the world to someone else too… his brother Connor. His brother and Abby dated briefly for a month, but Connor doesn’t do commitment, and when he found out that Brian was interested in pursuing Abby he decided to step aside. But for how long?
Now both Sullivan men find themselves in love with the same woman, and she loves both of them for very different reasons, but only one of them can hold heart forever!
Falling for the Good Guy brings readers back into the lives of the Sullivan men, and the beautiful woman who has managed to capture both of their hearts, and this time the story centers more around the relationship between Brian and Abby. After watching her discover something with his brother Connor, Brian starts to realize how important Abby is to him and it has him wanting to hold on to her and all that they have, but the question remains if Abby feels the same, or if what she has with his brother will be stronger. This little scenario just keeps getting more interesting, and more torturous on my heart, I honestly have no idea which way this one is going to go, just when I thought I was on team Connor, Brian swooped in and had me doubting my decision! Can’t wait for the next installment and to see how it all plays out!! Highly recommend this serial, it’s loaded with feels, swoons, and many moments that are good for the heart!
I requested an advanced copy of this title, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
This is part 2 of this trilogy and you MUST read part 1 before you read this one. This one involves Abby and Brian. It is implied from the start that Connor has stepped aside, i.e., once again sacrificed himself for Brian yet again since he is in love with Abby but has left her after his self-imposed 30-day rule. This made me mad at first and since Abby was clearly suffering since she is in love with Connor, I was not on Brian’s side. He was relentless and guileless and, dare I say, devious at times with his pursuit of Abby but she eventually came around. They have had a friendship for so long and the closeness brought about from helping raise Brian’s daughter while his wife was dying and being best friends just developed into more. So, after reading this was I on team Brian or team Connor? Still team Connor but I am immediately starting the next book to see how this all ends!
I definitely recommend this series but make sure you read them in order!
This is the second book in this series and it continues Abby’s story. It is a good book but it really went in a direction I did not like. This for me was a huge turn off and greatly effected my enjoyment of this read. I refuse to give spoilers, so I will only say my lack of enjoyment of this book is totally due to my own feelings and preferences. I will say I look forward to book three.
I’m struggling with this one. How can she be in love one with one brother and he love her too. But he steps aside to let brother #2 have a chance with her? So she sleeps with brother #2. I just couldn’t get into it. I’m not sure I want to read book three especially if she chooses wrong.
I kind of wished I would have purchase this one either.
This is book two of the Can’t Resist serial. Going into this knowing it is a serial, I was ready to be left hanging. With this author, I can accept that because I want to read everything of hers. Abby and Brian have always spent time together, almost as if a family. But is Brian really ready for a true relationship after all he has gone through? Will Abby choose him over Connor? This book has it humor, romance, heartache, and love. I really enjoyed it, and am looking forward to the next book. A definite must read!
