Assistant District Attorney, Sophie James, planned to leave her husband, Jason, after his affair very publicly comes to light. However, when Jason is found brutally murdered, Sophie puts aside her feelings of betrayal to help find his killer. But the main suspect is Jason’s partner, Ethan, who Sophie fell in love with years ago. But despite her torn feelings, the guilt of her past choices is too … too much to bear, and she is determined to rid herself of it by bringing this killer to justice, even if it means deceiving a man who continues to invade her dreams.
Ethan Markham, an Inspector with the San Francisco Police Department, is in a fight for his freedom when he finds himself under investigation for his partner’s murder. He was the last to see Jason alive, but he has never told anyone what took place that night, and the secrets continue to haunt him. He knows he could tell Internal Affairs everything and clear his name, but if he reveals the events of that night, it would destroy the life of a woman he has loved all of his life.
As Ethan and Sophie both grapple with the truth about Jason’s death, they find themselves surrounded by lies, murder, suspicion, and memories of a love that won’t go away. But Jason’s death is only the beginning, and getting closer to the truth also means getting closer to a dangerous enemy who will do anything to keep it silenced forever.

Book three of the The Ex Files series a murder mystery that held my interest throughout. I see there is a book after this one and I want to read it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great book in this series This is the book in this series and while Ex factor is a complete stand alone Exchange and Exiled have a cross over.
This is a romantic suspense story and yes there is plenty of drama, suspense and danger but there is also an underlying romance that will melt your socks.
Sophie James a DA is determined to prove who killed her husband yes she have may have been about to leave him after all he had a very public affair but she wants justice for him The main suspect is his partner Ethan Markham a man that she has deep feelings for . Ethan could clear his name by going to internal affairs with the information he has but in doing so he would destroy Sophie the woman he loves. As they both work to find out what really happened the night Jason was murdered they put a target on their own backs Will they solve the murder and will they get the HEA they deserve together
If you’ve read Exiled by this author the story overlaps with Sophie & Ethan’s story. It’s a bit complicated & a little confusing at times with so much going on. The suspense continues. Sophie is a bit guarded in this & Ethan has to watch his back. Again there are quite a few deaths mainly affecting Sophie that she is also a suspect.
It’s not until the end that the person of interest is revealed. One this time I didn’t pick.
I did prefer Exiled over this but it was good none the less.

I read this book immediately after finishing Exiled, in these 2 books I realize I have found another amazing author whom I shall be on the look out for other books by. This story is again very well written and led me down a path of mystery, drama, suspense, romance, twists and turns that often times had me literally sitting on the edge of my seat! This truly is a wonderfully written story, my only advice is make sure you choose a nice comfy seat before starting to read this book as you may be sitting there for a few hours as you read this cover to cover.

Sophie’s planning to leave Jason, when he’s murdered. His partner, Ethan, is the logical suspect. He could easily clear his name, but chooses not to hurt Sophie. They were in love many years ago. She’s determined to find Jason’s killer. This book has it all – drama, mystery, suspense, and romance – and lots of twists and turns in the plot, right up to the very end. It was a great story that kept me on the edge of my seat.
