Atticus Charming’s spectacular announcement of his sexuality backfired, leaving him penniless, crashing in his friend’s basement, working a part-time job at a local gas station for minimum wage, and without the funds to pay for his last year of university.
This hard dose of reality after having lived a spoiled rich-kid lifestyle leaves Atticus grasping at straws to fix his precarious and … unappealing situation.
When a job opportunity presents itself, Atticus knows he can’t turn it down. The money is too enticing. It’s the answer to all his problems.
It’s just a some racy pictures and a few suggestive videos, right? No big deal.
But there is a catch. This job can’t be done solo, and the one other person who needs to be involved might not agree with Atticus’s desperate plan.
Morals and ethics go out the window. Real and fake start blending together.
Can Atticus fulfill the obligations of the job without crossing too many boundaries?
And what happens when the scene ends and the feelings don’t?

Glorious! What a great read! I loved the steadily rising angst and mounting sexual tension in this story. What a deliciously forbidden twist on forced proximity, bisexual awakening and self-discovery, so insanely hot and yet such an emotional journey too. Atticus is funny and just such a lovable drama queen, he brings the comical touch to this story and a little lighthearted relief in between the angst and scorching flames. Atticus and Asher are opposites, but they get each other so well and their love is unconditional, which really made me root for them. The strength of their bond is never in question. For as much as Atticus is the driving force behind their acting/modelling endeavor, it’s reluctant, balanced Asher who plays his cards close to his chest that in the end surprised me the most. My heart ached for him as everything he knew to be true about himself starts shifting and he grows to long for a seemingly impossible future.
Here I was expecting a lot of angst because let’s face it, Nicky James is the Queen of angst in my opinion. What I got though was the exact opposite, a light, low angst, and incredibly fun read. I had several laugh-out-loud, tears running down my face moments when it came to Atticus’s responses when he was either flustered or nervous. While I love both Asher and Atticus, I have to go with #teamAtticus as my favorite because he was a delight. This was a fabulous read, but I do recommend checking out the author’s note before diving in as this may not be for everyone.
I cried. But only happy tears!
I fell in love with Atti in two seconds – or less. Atti is so hilarious, his brain and mouth, I can’t. He reminds me so much of Krew (from Fearless- Nicky James), I laughed so much. The situations he put himself in, and the way he tried to live his life now after he got kicked out from home because he’s gay. God, I could punch his parents in the face. So hard!
And we got Ash on the other hand who totally balances Atti’s craziness. They were so good together. Ash helped so much and wanted to do everything for Atti and for his happiness. My falling in love with Ash was a bit later, but come on, who can beat Atti in this contest? So yeah, I fell in love with Ash too and especially with his kind heart.
The whole story behind the story – the book promotion – it was sooooo cool! I loved that, and loved the photo shoots too.
The emotions were building slow but oh so good. I loved that everything was real, every emotions were real. For Atti and for Ash too. They struggled so much, and that gave realness for the story. That right there the best in this book and that right there makes this loveable. And makes me believe that it can happen in the real life too. When the author can sell the story to you and you say ‘yeah, this totally like real life’ , that’s the point when the book turns from good to AMAZING.
Loved this slow love-building. Loved all the scenes between Ash and Atti, and loved when they played at home ‘Action – End Scene’. They were lovely
And I love Nicky for this book. She can write taboo like no one else. Can’t wait to the next one! HIHGLY RECOMMEND IT.
Angst & Taboo Queen Nicky James has done it again… this book won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, so please heed the warnings!!!
Unlike most of NJ’s books, this book is so funny!!
Atticus and Asher’s banter, snark and antics had me in stitches! This is a low angst (I know, hard to believe), fun, sexy read.
Let’s talk about Atti!! I LOVE HIM!! He is hilarious, witty and oh so loveable. Atti is my spirit MC. If he were an animal, he would be a unicorn covered in sparkles!!
Ash would do anything for Atti. He’s broody, caring and generous. His uncertainty, guilt and struggle bleeds through in NJ’s writing and makes you want to cheer these boys onto their HEA.
End Scene is well written, and a definite page turner.
This book will not be for everyone, but if you’re inclined to read “a touch of taboo”, then I highly recommend End Scene!
Wow this book blew me away in the best possible way! I went into this book very sure I wouldn’t be convinced to embrace it. This isn’t a trope I usually connect with because I never can be convinced I will buy the love between the characters. Well I should know better than to doubt the amazing writing ability of Nicky James…I was convinced-hook, line and sinker. I adored Atticus and Asher together. Things didn’t happen right away, there was a build up, a story and a very believable plot line that started their journey to falling in love in a way that was never meant to be. I was captivated from the start and could not put this book down.
I adored Atticus, he was hysterical, smart, witty and oh so charming. His ramblings when he was nervous or uncomfortable were so much fun and so well written. But Asher, Asher stole my heart. His journey of doubt and uncertainty to discovering who he was and who he wanted to love was amazing. Everything he did was for Atticus–he supported him unconditionally, he struggled with self loathing and guilt, but he kept moving forward for Atti. I felt his struggles and I cheered for him as he worked his way through them. And let’s talk for a minute about the heat level of this book, holy cow! This book was scorching hot, it melted my kindle many times along the way. The steamy scenes were so very well done. Beneath all the heat was so much love and familiarity, so much caring and compassion, and so much tenderness. It was absolutely wonderful.
I loved everything about this book, from beginning to end. Ms. James is an auto buy author for me, she never let’s me down. I always finish her books feeling complete and wanting so much more at the same time, a perfect combination. Do yourself a favor and read this book, you will not regret it!
This was a completely taboo read, but also funny, sexy and Asher and Atti were adorable together.
4,5 stars
Reading End Scene I was expecting pain, tears, conflict and indecision, instead what I found is an incredibly funny, hot and sweet story
Atticus and his lack of filters made me laugh, Asher and his overthinking made me want to hug him… The way they interact with each other made it easy to fall for them, to cheer for them…
There is just one thing that miss me in this book: Asher’s pov.
*bites knuckle* If you enjoy MM taboo – this book may very well become one of the top 3 reads for the genre. It’s hot, full of brilliant characters and pulls you in to the deeply engaging story. I soaked this up really quickly as it’s hard to put down and soooo delicious! I would give more than 5 stars if I could!
Wow!!! There isn’t enough praise that I can give Author Nicky James especially when it comes to her story writing!
End Scene was a fantastic story between two men that started out as just a way to help one who was in a situation that he could lose everything he had worked for.
Being models for an author who needed a certain look, what harm could come out of faking chemistry on camera.
However, soon the lines blur when feelings start to stir below the surface, and action happens even after the camera stops clicking!
Love, lust, on the camera takes a whole new meaning for these two men after the director says cut.
This story will definitely get your heart pumping, and your body hot from desire when these two finally let loose on their sexual desires for one another!
Nicky James always pulls me into a story unlike any other author can. She pulled me right in with Asher and Atticus’s story. I loved them from the start as I laughed my way through! Yes, laughed! There were no tears here! I know!! Their story was funny, steamy, sexy and kept me drawn in all the way through. The chemistry between them was off the charts hot . I really enjoyed how how their relationship changed and progressed. Atti didn’t shy away from Asher when he finally declared his feelings, rather sat back and reflected on what Ash felt. The caring and feelings between these two really tied this story together for me. Nicky took one of my favorite tropes and set a new standard. I loved Ash and Atti and this will be a definite re-read for me!
What a sweet love story this is, Atticus and Asher are perfect for each other. Atti’s sense of humour and rambling was adorable from start to finish, and together, the two MCs bounced off each other and bantered all through the book. The attraction developed and the deep feelings between Atti and Asher were clear from their first intimate interactions with each other and those feelings continued to develop and build steadily throughout the book. Reading a book about a book in the same genre and space was interesting, to see things from another perspective but all of which was secondary to the beautiful portrayal of love and romance against the odds. Nicky has done it again and given me all the feels without a lot of angst! <3
Holy Wow! Oh my,what a book! Taboo for sure. Never thought I’d read that, but I did and it was fabulous, intense, a little sad and haf. Atti was a laugh, the stuff he says sometimes, you can’t help but laugh or smile. Ash,he seemed like a tough jock but he was a sweetheart. I love those guys so much. I recommend this book if you like Taboo!
Well, a Nicky James novel without all the angst may be rare, but it is no less wonderful and heartfelt. Atti is absolutely hilarious and has no filter whatsoever. I lost count of the amount of times he went on a tangent – often awkwardly – and spouted absolute nonsense. He is also the most adorable human ever and from the first page, I was completely hooked. I just wanted the absolute best for him, and yes, that turned out to be Asher. Asher, who is so protective, loyal, and willing to do anything for Atti… and I mean anything! The only part that made my heart hurt was when Asher was coming to terms with what – and who – he really wanted. But Atti, the total sweetheart that he is, was there for him and knew exactly what to say. They were able to move past their hang-ups fairly quickly and from there, they weren’t only hot and steamy, but also, incredibly sweet. Atti and Asher are hard not to love – I already miss them!!
Another wonderful story from Nicky James. This is definitely not a fluff piece from Nicky, but it also doesn’t have a ton of the heart-wrenching angst that most of her other stories have. Atticus and Asher are just a hoot. Atticus is kicked out of his home after coming out to his parents. Then he gets an offer to good to refuse, but will the only other person in his life, Asher, help him make his dreams come true… Well, I’m not going to spoil it for you…. Go buy this one, you won’t be disappointed.
