Trust and TreacheryWhen space freighter pilot Calen Macleef accidentally wins Larissa “Bit” Earnest in a lucky hand of poker, his main concern is what his gruff and uncompromising brother Jack will say about it. Jack Macleef is the captain of the ship in a world where space travel has only recently become the norm and space piracy abounds. Painful memories of prior abuse surface for Bit as she … she finds herself on a freighter full of rowdy, ungentlemanly merchant marines. Jack works to find a safe place for frightened Bit amongst the ungentlemanly crew, but good looks and innocent ways continually charm the men. With tension and danger running high, each begins to wonder: will they survive the pirates… and each other?
Broken and Hunted
Mars: a beacon of safety and refuge, unless you’re transporting the disputed embryos of genetically modified animals intended for auction to the Martian elite.
Jack Macleef and his small crew of interstellar merchant marines—including “Bit,” an unexpected indentured servant—think they’re on a simple cargo drop when things suddenly go awry. Dodging paint-hurling protestors and mercenaries bent on terrorizing the crew’s families, Jack and Bit have their hands full as they try to keep the crew from falling apart while still delivering the cargo on time.
Profit and Peril
After the delivery from hell, the crew of the Lenore is ready for a well-deserved rest. But just as they reach their ship, they receive an offer they can’t refuse. Desperately needing money to repair the limping Lenore, Jack Macleef takes the job, even though it toes the line of legality.
To his astonishment, the crew agrees to the illegal job.
Just when Bit thinks she has her male crewmates under control, a fresh wave of romantic inclinations wash through them, and Bit is forced to deal with it the only way she knows how—with a swift fist to the eye.
With half the crew tripping over itself to get to Bit, Jack flies the Lenore to Nye space station with the intention of secretly installing a nuclear reactor, freeing the station from the planetary government’s control. If he can succeed, he will have the money to repair the Lenore. If he fails, more than one life will be ruined.

Great female character. I enjoyed the development of the character although if you don’t have all the books to read one after the other you’re left dangling at the end of each book wondering what happens next. Could prove irritating for some. Others might just give up in frustration. It was a good story, though.
All three books kept my attention
Trust & Treachery: Ends with a climactic, suspenseful space battle. It takes awhile to build up to that point, but the time she takes for character development just adds to the suspense later on. I would like to see more of a science-fiction element, such as new technology or aliens. I look forward to reading future books in the series.
Broken & Hunted: Reading this book was like driving in a hovercar at extreme speeds. This one has a lot more action than the previous book. By separating the characters, the author gives individuals a chance to shine while ratcheting up the suspense. Her verb choices and descriptions put you into the story. Broken and Hunted rockets the story that started in Trust and Treachery to a satisfying conclusion.
Profit & Peril: an exciting science-fiction novel, with a great mixture of action and soap opera type moments. There are some surprises here and there, so overall it’s like being on a thrilling amusement park ride where you don’t know where the next jolt is coming from.
The heroine, Bit, is not a Disney princess in need of being coddled or rescued. She can hold her own against the most fearsome opponent and wisely keeps the men at bay so she can focus on her goals. She comes by her skills through hard work. In this book, she becomes more believable as she wrestles with issues such as her place on the crew and prejudice.
My sole complaint is that Katrina Krelski, a character introduced in the prior book, is a minor character in this book. The way they talked about her being a female companion to Bit, I was expecting. . . more. I suspect she may have machinations against Bit and if that’s the case, I would have preferred her begin to dole out the machinations earlier in the story.
All in all, a wonderful read
The characters in the books were developed gradually and skillfully, each bit of information building on the last but still not revealing the future development. I really enjoyed the series and hope to be able to obtain the next in the series.
great
Great read
Worth retail
Pleasant read!
Good read. Much like Tom Swift or a Heinlein juvenile. Needs a little polish on terminology and a bit of proof reading to improve.
Enjoy the dharacters, fun books
This story was pretty good! The woman character has had a tough life.
The story line is very good but the character as written isn’t believable, as to the probability of her being able to perform all the situations she’s put into.
It sounds like i didn’t like the story but I really did. I wished the story did end and not push into another book.
I would like to read more. I like stories that build around people growing or maturing. The story made me want more. Like, now what is going to happen in her life. I especially like it related to space and other planets. Also not everyone has a perfect life, it is a struggle. That is how you grow. I liked the Miles Vorkosigan stories by Lois McMaster Bujold. Your stories are similar. They are entertaining and yet not always finding answers obvious. Very good, thanks, write more please
Easy entertaining read for a teenager. A good read but not enough depth and substance for me to consider a great read.
A very entertaining read.
Bit is a character honed by the hardships of sold at age 8 into debt servitude. Gambled off to a spacer she learns her worth as those on board the ship give her respect and kindness.
This story would have been a lot more interesting and easy to read if the author had hired a good editor. The grammatical and spelling and sentence structure errors are a constant irritant. Bit’s story is actually rather interesting, but I was constantly distracted by the poor grammar, usage, and other errors. I’d like to tell the author to go hire herself someone who can correct her punctuation, grammar, etc. If she did, I’d probably add a star to this rating. As it is — irritating, irritating, irritating.
I found it very entertaining. Enjoyed it very much!
This book was entertaining enough, but I just couldn’t finish it. Some of the elements wore on and I found myself getting frustrated at times when the story didn’t get past some hurdles the characters faced. I’m sure some will love it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.
The stories are interesting. However, the misspelling distracts from reading.
So good that I can’t wait for the next one!!! Adventures of a freighter crew who won a 22 year old female indentured servant. The crew does not believe in treating anyone like a servant so Bit is treated wonderfully. She has never had her own room or more than one meager meal a day, at most. As Bit is learning to trust and become part of the crew, several groups are chasing Bit and the crew.
Someone is tracking Bit and trying to capture her. Another group is after the crew and what the freighter holds. They are attacked by pirates and pursued all over several planets. There if fighting on the ship, in space, and on planets.
There is a budding relationship between Bit and one of the crew. Actually, several of the crew find Bit very attractive.
It never stays calm very long before one thing or another happens. I enjoyed the books very much and have gone on to read the other published books. This September a new book will be published. I think both men and women would enjoy this book.
hooked on “little Bit”
