Now, this beloved and iconic book returns in a beautiful … and iconic book returns in a beautiful 10th anniversary edition, complete with an updated introduction from the author, to launch a whole new generation of fans.
In her early thirties, Elizabeth Gilbert had everything a modern American woman was supposed to want—husband, country home, successful career—but instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed by panic and confusion. This wise and rapturous book is the story of how she left behind all these outward marks of success, and set out to explore three different aspects of her nature, against the backdrop of three different cultures: pleasure in Italy, devotion in India, and on the Indonesian island of Bali, a balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence.

Eh, I guess maybe my idea of inspiration is different but I found it disappointing that she didn’t have any financial struggles – how hard can it be to find oneself and enlightenment when you can just pack up and run away?
I found this book tedious because the author was (is?) so completely self-absorbed. Not to mention desperate for any and all male attention. I wouldn’t read another title by the author.
Ugh. So poorly written.
It makes you think about your own life a little differently.
Ugh. Really?
Really enjoyed the first part, liked the second, but was bored by the third part.
I did not enjoy this book much at all. I found it to be disappointing considering how much praise it got. The character was hard to like and it felt more like a research paper than a novel.
Self serving
Eat, Pray, Love was such a wonderful book that inspires one to look into themselves and find what makes them happy. I loved it!
Pathetic, self absorbed writer.
I have bought a copy for every friend that I have! A must read!
This book found me at the perfect time in my life. It came out when I was post-divorce and I was able to find my way out of feeling alone through those pages. Some call it indulgent, but that’s ok. We get to be indulgent sometimes.
I did not like this in the least.
This book has changed some people’s lives. I really enjoyed it.
I did not enjoy this book, even though someone enjoyed it enough to make a movie. I found it a boring story of misguided and confused woman searching for something in a lot of wrong places. Read as part of a book club and all 18 members felt pretty much the same. We were shocked when it was made into a movie,
Inspirational and thoughtful, good read.
Not nearly enough “eat”. I found this book to be way too self-indulgent.
I couldn’t get thru it. Contrived junk.
We should all have the money to “find ourselves” by traveling the world. Didn’t like the author, and found her to be a whiner and complainer, who indulges herself at the expense of others. This turned me off to anything else she may have written. Sorry!
I tried reading this book twice and was unable to get into it.
