Two single parents and three adorable kids are about to have a summer they’ll never forget in this sexy, heartwarming new novel of the New York Times bestselling series. Following the sudden death of his wife, Nathan Bell spent nearly two years burying himself in work and neglecting his biggest responsibility: his daughter. Overcome with guilt, he wants to connect with little Marley, but he … Marley, but he doesn’t know how to do it alone. And then Jenna Savage throws him a lifeline.
A single mom of twins, Jenna is more than capable of taking care of Nathan’s adorable two-year-old and wants to help Nathan however she can. As the days go by and her attraction to Nathan grows, she can’t help wondering what might happen if they became a family for real. And the closer everyone becomes, the more right it feels.
Falling in love forces Nathan to face his biggest fear, and when hearts — both big and little — are on the line, the only thing scarier than needing Jenna and her kids so much is losing them all.

J. Daniels’ fans have been waiting for this story ever since we heard Nate and Marley’s sad story and met Jenna and her two adorable twins. I am happy to say that I am still surprised by this book and that Jessica did a fantastic job with this story. It was everything I expected and much more! Get ready because reading Down Too Deep you’ll fall in love with Nate, Jenna, Marley, Oliver, Olivia and the whole Dirty Deeds crew all over again.
Down Too Deep is the fourth (and final) installment of the Dirty Deeds series and it’s an emotionally gripping single parents romance you don’t want to miss. Nathan Bell is at one of his worst points in his life. He lost his wife, he is lost and very much focused on his restaurant and he is not taking care of his daughter. But that is about to change. Enter Jenna Savage. Jenna loves being a mom and adores her twins. She offers to help Nate with Marley, he desperately needs it and that is the start of a beautiful love story between these two and their children.
I wanted to fix this, to be better.
God, I needed to be better.
I love me a single parents love story. This definitely is one of my absolute favorite tropes because I love second chances at love and family interactions. Well, we got that and so much more. This series is so centered in all the feels and Down Too Deep was no exception. I loved seeing Nate getting out of that dark place thanks to Jenna and the kids. Jenna is the most amazing mother and so patient with her new relationship. The void is filled, this new family is so happy together. Sounds great right? Well, not everything is hearts and flowers, of course.
“It’s terrifying, isn’t it?”
“What?”
“Loving someone this much.”
Nate is afraid of the magnitude of what he feels for Jenna. It’s so much more of what he felt for Sadie and he is terrified of losing her and the kids. Those moments were so heartbreaking but also so beautiful to experience because of the roller coaster of emotions around these characters. I could not help falling even more in love with Nathan and his family. I adored the kids to pieces too and it was so sweet to see how they fall in love with Nate and Marley. I am just so glad this new family has found their much deserved happy ending.
Falling in love was overwhelmingly scary. It was also becoming the easiest thing I had ever done.
So, my rating for Down Too Deep is 5 STARS because I loved every single moment of reading this incredible love story. It was so much more than what I expected and that is saying a lot since I had crazy high expectations. This story was everything, it blew my mind and melted my heart. It was emotional, entertaining and simply, an excellent reading experience. Gah! I am not ready to say goodbye to any of these beloved characters but I am so ecstatic they all found their HEAs. If you still haven’t read this wonderful series, I highly recommend you do because all the books are 100% worth it.
DOWN TOO DEEP is the fourth instalment in J. Daniel’s contemporary, adult DIRTY DEEDS erotic, romance series. This is thirty year old, widower/single father/bar owner Nathan Bell, and twenty-seven year old, single mother/nanny /PA Jenna Savage’s story line. DOWN TOO DEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Nathan and Jenna) DOWN TOO DEEP follows the building relationship between thirty year old, widower/single father/bar owner Nathan Bell, and twenty-seven year old, single mother/nanny /PA Jenna Savage. Approximately two years earlier Nathan Bell’s wife died, and in the ensuing time Nathan has struggled to move on with his life, a life that no longer includes the daughter he barely knows. Giving their son an ultimatum, Nathan’s parents, who have been raising his daughter, demand he take responsibility including finding someone to look after his child. Enter single mother Jenna Savage, the woman with whom Nathan would fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jenna and Nathan, as well as between one another’s children, and the potential fall-out as Nathan struggles with memories from the past.
Nathan Bell has struggled in the two years since the death of his wife. Barely able to hold it together, Nathan battles between head and heart for the daughter he doesn’t know, and is afraid to love. An accidental meeting with Jenna Savage, finds Nathan instantly attracted to the woman who would become his daughter Marley’s nanny, a woman whose love for both Nathan and Marley is tested on numerous occasions.
Jenna Savage is a single mother to twin eight year olds, twins who have fallen in love with Nathan’s daughter Marley. A family by choice, Nathan and Jenna’s blended relationship finds the children will become collateral damage when Nathan struggles with demons from his past.
The relationship between Nathan and Jenna is one of immediate attraction but Jenna is technically Nathan’s employee, and Nathan battles between head and heart knowing that to possibly push Jenna would mean pushing Jenna out of his daughter’s life. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.
We are introduced to Nathan’s parents, his daughter Marley; Jenna’s brother Brian and Sydney (Four Letter Word #1), Jamie and Tori (Hit the Spot #2) and Dr .Travis McCade (Jamie’s brother), as well as Jenna’s twins Oliver and Olivia.
DOWN TOO DEEP is a story of grief and acceptance; love and understanding; moving forward and letting go. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are colorful, broken, energetic and strong.
5+ Stars! Perfect.
Not many books make it onto my must re-read pile but even at just half way through, I was adding this to my list! I read this story as fast as I could even though at the same time I never wanted it to end. These characters will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Nate (Nathan) and Jenna’s romance is so heartwarming. From the very first time they were in the same scene together, I was rooting for them. I felt every emotion under the sun while reading this story and I loved every single second. I wanted to live in their world, their story, their romance, their everything, FOREVER.
I don’t have anything more to say. This book is PERFECT and it’s a MUST READ.
It’s never too soon to re-read right? Asking for a friend.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
What to your get when you combine a single mother with twins and a single father with the most adorable 2 years old? You get a book that will not only have you laughing out loud but will also break your heart watching these 2 parents weave through their pasts to find their futures. What a story. I think this one out of all the books in this series broke my heart the most, but it also filled it up with light the most.
Jenna is a single parent of twins. She has been doing it on her own from the beginning. She knows what it is like to need a support system surrounding you when being a single parent. Jenna’s heart is just so big, she has room for everyone in it. Including a newly single father who has no clue how to raise a 2-year-old daughter. I loved how it was just her instinct to step in and offer the help she knew Nate so desperately needed. She saw him for who he would be before he even recognized it within himself. Her and her kid’s love for Marley and Nate just shined through the pages.
Nate is struggling. He is struggling adapting to be a single parent, he is struggling with how to live each day. He is surviving but not really living and it reflects in every aspect of his live. His restaurant is going well but could be doing so much better. His daughter is growing but could be thriving. He needs a wake-up call and he is about to get a couple of them. I can’t imagine going through what Nate has gone through in recent years, but can you ever really live unless you deal with the past? I loved watching Nate with Marley and Olivia and Oliver. Once he got over his fear, he was a natural Dad.
These too had a lot to overcome but, in the end, they ended up right where they were supposed to be.
Cue the feels! I really enjoyed this book! I was excited to get Nate and Jenna’s story. Nate is struggling with a huge loss in his life. He’s coping the best he can and his parents give him a little tough love to help him out. Jenna is like his fairy godmother coming to help him at his lowest time. Jenna and her kids are able to help him with his daughter Marley. And she’s simply the CUTEST! (I wanted to squeeze this child and snuggle her!) They soon find their new normal and Jenna and Nate’s lives intertwine. I was completely lost in their story, the sweetness and the realness. J.Daniels made me feel ALLLLLL the emotions and she grabbed me and didn’t let go. I loved the way she captures the reader. I highly recommend this book.
This is my first book by J. Daniels and it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this book. What do you get when you add 2 single parents and their kids – a great story. Nathan and Jenna were a great couple. They needed each other more than they realized. They helped each other heal from the issues that they had in the past. It was a joy to watch their relationship blossom into something they didn’t know they were looking for. With each turn on the page, you will fall in love as they do. This is book 4 in the series but you can read it as a standalone.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Dirty Deeds #4, Well, I jumped on to this bandwagon a little late but better late than never. Never read J. Daniels before and I have to say she has a good narrative with the duel first person POVs, which is important to me because I’m picky about my first person POV. I loved the story I love second chance at love stories be it widow(er), divorced, or just former significant other was a loser and in this case we have a widower and a one night stand that lead to twins and single parenthood. Nathan did not make a good first impression wallowing in his grief and guilt and left his parent to raise his infant daughter Marley. After two years his parents finally said enough was enough. Now on his own to take care of his two year old daughter that he doesn’t know and manage his restaurant. Jenna, I Loved. Jenna is a great parent for the last eight years has raised her twins on her own, Oliver and Olivia. At first she hoped the father would come around but gave up hope when he signed away his parental rights. Now all Jenna wants to to find someone who will love her kids as much as she does.
Two weeks into having Marley all on his own and he’s at his wits end, keeping her at the restaurant isn’t working, thankfully Jenna comes into the picture and saves the day. Honestly she would take care of Marley for free but Nathan conscience won’t let her. Thing are going swimmingly, Marley loves Oliver and Olivia and vise versa but the sexual tension between Nathan and Jenna is growing each day and not only that they have become friends and really enjoy each others company. By the time the inevitable happens, because it always does it’s romance after all, Nate and Jenna are in deep and not just them but the kids two, and the feels are reals. I was smiling and then all the sudden the smile is gone, I’m crying along with everyone else in the book.
Overall, it was a great read. I loved the story and the kids really stole the show. The book works as a standalone I didn’t feel like I needed to read the previous books in the series but I kinda want to now. I do hope to read more J. Daniels books in the future.
Where do I even begin?! This book is such a mix of heartwarming sweetness and truly moving emotion I don’t even know if I can properly describe it. J. Daniels completely stole my heart with this one, I can tell you that much. I adore single parent reads, but Down Too Deep is like next level single parent romance. The blending of families brings a whole lot of adorable fill your heart with joy moments while the romance is filled with deep emotion that will definitely result in you reaching for a tissue occasionally.
Nathan and Jenna are just so natural together right from the beginning. Even before the attraction between them grows into more they just fit so seamlessly together. I found myself quickly falling in love with them both and then falling even deeper with them as a family thanks to their adorable children.
Nathan is a widower who carries the blame for his wife’s death. For two years he was plunged into sadness, work and drink to run away from home and memories, but when his father says he will travel and will no longer help to care for little Marley Nathan will need a lot of willpower to face the challenge of taking care of his cute daughter. Now he not only needs to learn how to take care of a two year old baby but also make her connect with him and also get someone to stay with the girl while he is working.
When Jenna first sees Marley, she soon falls in love with the little girl and Marley with Jenna. Realizing Nathan’s despair and his desire to be a present father, she offers to help care for Marley along with her twins.
Olivia and Oliver are eight years old and have never met their father and both clearly demonstrate the desire to win one. Realizing the similarities between them and Nathan they begin to hope that Jenna would conquer the serious owner of Whitecaps. But that won’t be easy at first because Jenna is afraid to get involved with other man and then because Nathan isn’t ready to move on and make such a serious commitment .
Between parties, movies, and conversation, they will become fond of each other and see that they form a beautiful family and will have to fight their insecurities to surrender to the love that springs from so many needy hearts.
First book I read from this writer and already become a fan of her light, fun and romantic writing. I loved to follow each moment of affection between these characters and between them and the secondary characters. I loved the sensual scenes, very well fitted into the story full of passion and surrender. I loved the way Jenna knew how to impose herself at the right time and for the right reasons.
I just thought the recovery from Nathan’s two years of drunkenness was a little quick after all. Good thing the writer didn’t let this affect or bring sadness for the rest of the plot and I loved the reading.
„I wanted to be the first person she thought of an any given moment, because she was quickly becoming mine.”
I’m swooning so hard right now! I have a weak spot for single parents in my romances and J. Daniels delivered one of the best stories with this trope I’ve read! Down Too Deep is such a sweet and adorable book! So heartwarming and soul-gripping. I loved everything here- the storyline, main characters, the kids (you’re gonna burst from cuteness when you’ll meet them!), the chemistry… I could go on all day! This book is a part of Dirty Deeds series, but you can read it as a complete standalone, so don’t waste your time and do it asap!
Nate is a widower, single father and a workaholic. He blames himself partially for his wife’s death and he’s trying to distract himself from the grief by working all the time. Unfortunately the way he’s coping created a distance between him and his little daughter. So when his parents refused to help him anymore, he was desperate to find a nanny. And that’s how Jenna entered his life. But he didn’t expect that this single mother of twins will turn his life upside down! But that shouldn’t be shocking- Jenna is such a kind-hearted, caring and loving woman! She was exactly, what he needed and vice versa. Jenna was content with her life. Everything was in its place except for romance. So there’s no surprise that after she fell in love with her new little ward, she also fell for her father. It was guaranteed, considering the sizzling chemistry and palpable lust between these two. And oh my, Nate and Jenna’s romance completely melted my heart!
This story is lovely, charming and delightful. You’re gonna swoon all the swoons! I loved every single sentence in this book. I adore J. Daniels’s writing- her stories are sweet, but they also carry emotional depth, without being overwhelming. Down Too Deep is a great addition to Dirty Deeds series and I highly recommend this title!
An amazingly heartwarming story that will have you completely engrossed and unable to put it down.
If you have read the others in this series then, like me, you have been dying to get your hands on Nathan and Jenna’s story. Well I can honestly say that you will not be disappointed. I love love loved it and the wait was totally worth it.
This one gave me all the feels and I couldn’t help but fall in love with these amazing characters. Down Too Deep is a perfect example of why I love Daniels writing and auto one-click everything she writes. While it can be read as a standalone I do highly recommend that you pick up the others in this series as well. They are all absolutely phenomenal!
4.5 Stars
This is my first J Daniels read and I will be looking at her backlist. Likely starting with the rest of this series. I was totally able to read this book as a standalone and not feel completely lost.
This books is a wonderful sweet romance that builds on a bond and friendship that revolves around their children. Jenna has a soul deep need as a caregiver, who loves all children. So it wasn’t a surprise when she offered to help a lost single dad out. She could see his want to connect with his sweet girl.
Nate has allowed his workaholic ways take over his life since the death of his wife two years ago. Unable to connect with his baby girl the way he really wanted to. But grief does strange things to us and he was drowning in it. Thanks to a final wake up call from his parents he is forced to make some changes.
Jenna and Nate had a quick connection but they were very focused on all the children. Not only was Nate learning to connect with his daughter, but he was drawn to Jenna’s twins. The children in this book play a big part in the book.
While there was lots of sad emotions in this read, there was also a tonne of fun and humor as well. I found it had to put this one down as I was falling in love with Oliver, Olivia and Marley.
*** advanced copy provided in exchange for an honest review. ***
I have to confess it’s been so long since I read the first few of these books. Then I had to wait for the next book in the series and I lost track of the releases. But when I read the blurb for this I knew I had to have it right now.
I was prepared for heartbreak and devastation from the first page. But for the first half of the book I was in this happy, cute fluff story that had a really sad backstory. And I figured I was going to be alright reading this without tissues.
Then the past came back to haunt them and I was caught up in Nathan’s point of view and his reasoning for everything and his feelings for Jenna. And I was okay because I knew everything was going to work out in the end. Then bam we went to Jennas point of view and I was a blubbering mess.
The kids in this story were on point for their ages, which I loved. And they felt as much a part of the story as Nathan and Jenna were, which absolutely made the story for me.
I really loved the writing and the story. I wish I had had the time to read the book before this one but not because it was necessary to this book but just because my little book loving brain knows it was meant to. And because I loved this one and the earlier ones I am going to have to bump it up on my TBR.
But now I am off to obsess over how perfectly this book pulled all of the feels out of me.
A beautifully written, deeply emotional and gripping single parent love story. Although i have to say that this would not be my favourite trope, this book absolutely captured me from beginning to end.
Nate is a single parent, still reeling from the sudden death of his wife, a workaholic who has for the past couple of years relied whole heartedly on his parents providing care for his little daughter. Now they have handed out some tough love and have left him in the proverbial deep end !! Going off on holiday and leaving him to care for his daughter.
Jenna a Loving single parent to twins, Oliver and Olivia, comes to his rescue and takes care of Marley for Nate to help him find a path between work and caring for Marley.
OMG this book had me by the heart strings, i loved this couple Hard!! We get both sides of their stories, and i couldn’t put this book down.
Nate was such a useless yet caring dad, feeling he couldn’t give his little daughter all she would need. Oh boy watching him grow into the father of any little girls (or Boys) dreams had me in a puddle.
Jenna was a natural parent, and devoted, a tower of strength and patience, and i loved the banter and shenanigins between Nate and Jenna. STEAMY flirting, steamy everything i was ready for combustion!! These two families coming together and growing pretty much melted me! The journey to their HEA was one i absolutely loved and definitely a book i would re read !!!!
4.5 Stars!
Nathan Bell owns and runs Whitecaps Restaurant and is a widow who has checked out of his life and shut out those who care about him. After losing his wife, the single dad has spent the last two years burying himself in work instead of doing the one thing he needed to do most, which is spend time with his daughter. Nate wants to be a good dad and to connect with his toddler, but he’s consumed by grief and guilt. He’s desperate for help, and a woman named Jenna shows him kindness and offers him a lifeline in his time of need.
Jenna Savage is a 27 yr. old single mom who moved to Dogwood Beach about three years ago to be closer to her brother Brian. Being a mom to her eight year old twins is her top priority, but when she crosses paths with an overwhelmed man with an adorable daughter she offers to help him out for the summer. Their arrangement has a deadline, and things would be temporary. Then attachments form as they grow close. Everything is so easy and effortless between them as real feelings and connections form. When the heart gets involved will they risk it all for love, or let fear get in the way?
Down Too Deep (Dirty Deeds, #4) by J. Daniels is a heartwarming, emotional single parent romance with amazing chemistry and all the feels. It’s a beautiful, swoony, sexy story about finding your second chance at love. I really enjoyed this book, and loved getting more of the whole gang. Jenna is Brian’s sister from Four Letter Word, so we see a lot of the characters we’ve come to know and adore. I love this series, and Down Too Deep is definitely one of my favorites!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
I didn’t realize this was the fourth book in a series until I was setting up the release post for this book. You definitely don’t have to read the others for this book to make sense. I wasn’t lost at all and obviously didn’t know there were others connected.
Down Too Deep features two single parents – Jenna and Nathan. She works from home and he owns a restaurant. They meet by chance but it’s one of his employees that suggests Jenna take a chance on getting to know Nate, as he’s known to his friends/employees.
Each have their own issues with being a single parent. Jenna has the upper hand as she’s raised twins by herself since birth and can easily take on his toddler to give Nate a hand until he hires more help at the restaurant.
These two realize they have a mutual attraction but they must be careful acting on it because of the children. I think the author did a great job here with setting up their relationship and how everything transpired thereafter.
This story is easy to read and I found it to be face paced. Nate and Jenna’s story is very realistic. They could be your next door neighbors or your kids friends from school’s parents.
Nate has been lost for the last two years since his wife died. He has pushed everyone that he loved away and it about broke my heart to see his daughter Marley shy away from him. She really doesn’t know him and he doesn’t know her. When he doesn’t have a choice but to start paying attention to her and taking care of her, he realizes very fast that he’s way over his head.
When Jenna is out to eat with her twins, Olivia and Oliver (LOVE these two) she meets Marley in the restaurant. When she goes to take her back to Nate’s office she ends up offering to help out and start watching her until he can find someone else.
In the next few months both families grow to love one another but will Nate blow it? Will he be able to let the past go and open his heart all the way to Jenna and her kids or will he ruin it? Will he push her away? Will it be too much for Jenna?
This book will pull at your heartstrings!!! I REALLY need to go and read the rest in the series!!
Oh, my gosh, I freaking loved this book! I forget sometimes how J. Daniels absolutely sucks me right the heck in with her books, and, man, I was ALL in for Jenna’s and Nathan’s story. I mean, everything, just EVERYTHING, about this book. I see a book hangover in my future…
It’s hard not to sound repetitive, but, man, I am SO in love with Nathan Bell. My heart just hurt for this man that was so mired in his own grief that he had never been able to look beyond it to connect with his daughter, Marley. When Jenna Savage shows up, she is just the lifeline he’s been missing. Jenna hasn’t had it particularly easy herself, but the circle that she casts is pure light, and Marley and Nathan can’t help but be drawn into it. It’s not long before these two are changing each other in all the best ways.
J. Daniels always writes the perfect mix of angst, steam, and pure unadulterated love, and DOWN TOO DEEP showcases this very well. I was drawn into the story, into the family and friend circle, into the intensity, from the very start, and I did not want to stop reading until the very end. This is what makes a book a 5 star read for me, and DOWN TOO DEEP is not only that, but one of my favorite books of this year.
Nate, Jenna, and their beautiful family will stay with me for a very long time, and I can’t wait to go back and catch up with the earlier books. DOWN TOO DEEP is one for the TBR, reader friends, and I guarantee, it will not disappoint. Make sure to get this one, and enjoy.
Down Too Deep is the story of 2 single parents and their adorable children! Nathan’s wife passed away and he handed his daughter off to his parents. Now, they are demanding he step back in and take care of his child. After seeing Nathan struggle with his daughter, Marley, Jenna offers to help. She can see he is overwhelmed and about to break.
I will admit I was a little judgmental of Nathan. His wife died and that was tragic, but he abandoned his daughter with his parents for 2 years!!!!! He missed the first 2 years of her life! I just struggled with the sheer selfishness of that decision, even with his grief. Jenna is like a gift from God. She has a job that allows her to work from home in the summers so she can watch her twin 8 year olds. She offers to help Nathan with Marley because she can see how desperate he is. He doesn’t even know the simplest thing about Marley’s likes or dislikes.
Jenna, Oliver and Olivia were sheer joy! Olivia’s note taking was super cute and Oliver is the most patient 8 year old boy ever. Marley is like every toddler-always on the go, a little in love with the word no, and so cute everyone is wrapped around her finger!
The relationship between Jenna and Nathan in Down Too Deep is obviously a slower building relationship. There is attraction right away, but both of them have a lot on their plates. Nathan is working every day and still trying to learn to be a parent and a widower. Jenna’s ex is not in the picture and she is wary of love. Nate seems very smitten with Jenna, but he is still wrestling with his own demons over his wife’s death.
Down Too Deep is full of deep emotions: guilt and love top among them. The addition of the children kept the book light in parts and that balanced out some of the really painful things Nate and Jenna were dealing with.
I loved this one from the very beginning. All the stars!!!!!!!
So I hate to admit that I’ve missed out on reading this series (insert embarrassed emoji)!! Although I love J. Daniels books – I somehow haven’t started on this series, but oh I am so glad I did with this one.
Second chance love is the best and this story had so much more depth that I anticipated. Nathan, Jenna, Olivia, Oliver, Marley – oh my – they were all my favorites!!
Nathan has been mourning the death of his wife for close to two years – unfortunately he’s also been neglecting his daughter during that time span. Watching those early days when he barely knew Marley and could barely answer Jenna’s questions – heartwrenching. Watching Jenna and her kids fall in love with Marley – heartstopping. Watching Nathan and Marley grow so close – even more heartstopping! Watching Jenna and Nathan fall for each other – mesmerizing!!
There was absolutely nothing I didn’t love about this story – even the difficult parts. Watching Nathan struggle with the memories of Sadie and needing to move past them, but not moving fast enough to not break Jenna’s heart – oh my!! And the gut wrenching of breaking the kids’ hearts too – that was hard to recover from! This one brought tears of pain and joy!
So much love…so much insight into the complicated life when someone unexpectedly leaves you behind and you are trying to start over with your daughter and with your life…so much of everything!
I voluntarily requested and reviewed an uncorrected advance reader copy, but I’m purchasing my own copy to have with me forever!!
