An Amazon Charts bestseller.
Her own past could be a reporter’s biggest story in this twisting thriller about murder and family secrets by the New York Times bestselling author T.R. Ragan.

A heart-stopping read. Ragan’s compelling blend of strained family ties and small-town secrets will keep you racing to the end!
Reader WARNING: Sexual abuse is the thread throughout. This said, the most surprising element about the book was the main character’s open admission of abuse by her uncle when she was six. In fact, her whole family knows–quite a different take from most books where that kind of family secret is buried in silent shame. The question of why the main character’s older sister left her behind with her uncle in the house gets answered very late and has a bit of a twist–told from the sisters’ two different viewpoints. The existence of a group of vigilante women determined to make their serial rapists pay is interesting though I found it hard to believe they were able to physically subdue a very large man. Also, giving hints about one vigilante’s identity is a bit disappointing as is the story about her abuse. The revelation of her abuser was NOT a surprise to the reader though it seemed to “gobsmack’ two of the other characters. The resolution to the first murder stretched my credulity and felt rushed, but the book overall is a good night’s read.
This was my first foray with T.R. Ragan, but rest assured it will not be my last!!! While the subject matter is daunting and some of the characters are EVIL, I found that I really liked the book, but, I in no way condone some of the characters behaviors.
If you have triggers with sexual abuse this book is not for you, but if you love edge of your seat, page turning, action packed, EVIL characters, say what moments, twisty, gritty, and mind boggling than you will enjoy this book.

TR Ragan is Unputdownable! <3
Really brutal book about pedophilia and date rape/torture. It is supposed to be the first in a series, but not sure about reading the rest.
Three sisters are trying to get past child hood trauma to the best of their ability. Each chooses a different path.
Sawyer Brooks is the main character. Even allowing for her past, she just isn’t likable. Lots of comments about her being stubborn, but mostly, she comes across as not so bright. And, since when do reporters feel duty bound to solve murders? Really? Possibly a bit of an over-reach?
The editing wasn’t great. Misspelled words, etc. And, at the end, to me, there were four things left unanswered. After finishing, I wondered if this was supposed to be a come-on for the next book, or just failure on the part of the author.
I’ve read other books by T.R.Ragan. I don’t remember them being this disjointed.
At first, I had some difficulty keeping the characters straight, but they were mostly likeable women. The family dynamics are creepy and uncomfortable, even to read, and aroused a desire to take revenge myself.
The plot was split between two sets of characters, and I found myself hoping for success for them.
Serious mystery fans may think they have the
Killer figured out, but there’s always one more twist.
T. R. Ragan takes the revenge thriller to the next level in the gritty and chillingly realistic Don’t Make a Sound. Ragan masterfully crafts one unexpected twist after another until the shocking finale.
Fans of Lizzy Gardner, Faith McMann, and Jessie Cole are in for a real treat with T. R. Ragan’s Don’t Make a Sound, the start of a brand-new series that features tenacious crime reporter Sawyer Brooks, whose own past could be her biggest story yet. Ragan once more delivers on her trademark action, pacing, and twists.
Page turner. Keeps your interest.
A well written dark thriller, but disturbing. It contains pedophiles, date rape and torture.
This is an utterly outstanding piece of writing!
Absolutely tragic and twisted!
Fantastic characters!
Brilliant storylines!
They are a group of five; they call themselves The Crew. There’s Malice and then there’s Lily, Bug. Cleo and Psycho. Years of abuse, mental, physical, sexual brought them together. Their belief is that the only way to get justice is to see criminals punished. They have taken back control of their lives by teaching sexual predators a lesson or two. They have no intention of committing murder … once the target is properly secured and “aware” of the harm they have done, they are released back into society.
But not all plans succeed.
They are a true sisterhood, committed to their newfound cause … and they are plotting their first target.
Sawyer Brooks is a crime reporter, still trying to regain control of her life, her rage, her paranoia. As part of a work promotion, and to attend to her grandmother’s funeral, she is returning to her hometown. Facing her past is no picnic. She’ll have to see her cold, distant parents, and the sisters who abandoned her with her uncle when she was a child.
There were two murders in her town years ago … almost unheard of at the time. Two teenaged girls were murdered and Sawyer’s best friend disappeared. Three cold cases dead and buried with the rest of the town’s secrets.
BOOK BLURB: When another girl is slain in a familiar grisly fashion, Sawyer is determined to put an end to the crimes. Pulled back into the horrors of her family history, Sawyer must reconcile with her estranged sisters, who both have shattering memories of their own.
What will prove most dangerous …. what she knows of the past … or what she has yet to discover?
This author is in my top 10 favorite list … and she never disappoints. Intricately woven plots… deftly drawn characters … and she handles the hard issues with a delicate hand. This is a true page-turner and I am excited to read the next book featuring Sawyer Brooks.
I really liked this book
This was at times a dark, harrowing read, and *trigger warning* as it deals with child sexual abuse that all three sisters endured as children. Despite the difficult story lines I really got engrossed with the story and though at times difficult to read, you really connect with Sawyer on a deeper level.
Sawyer returns to her hometown of River Rock to attend her grandmothers funeral, and with the hopes of blowing up the secrets that town has. Her childhood friend disappeared and there was also two murdered teenage girls, leave three cold cases, but when another girl if found in similar circumstances to the previous Sawyer gets her bite for the story.
There are a lot of sub story lines that twist and weave together, bringing the past and the present to head, and I loved how they came together. Though the story was hard to read at some points like I have said, I did enjoy this story and how it all played out.

First in a new Series
Ms. Ragan is not afraid to delve into dark subjects. In this new series about Sawyer Brooks and her sisters. This is not a light and fluffy book. It’s dark. Gritty and sometimes hard to read. Evil is everywhere!! The Crew is a part of this story I want to know more about and see how far that goes.
This series is definitely going to be an interesting ride. I’m ready!
If you are triggered by sex crimes at any age this book is not for you.
Don’t Make a Sound has very dark themes with very realistic situations which makes it even more terrifyingly real. If you’re into dark, intense thrillers, give this one a try because I think you’ll be glad you did. (Hard to say you’ll ‘enjoy’ it when it deals with such a horrifying topic, but it’s definitely a good read worth your time.)
Without giving spoilers, I’d like to say the author did a great job showcasing what happens both mentally and physically to people who are sexually abused.
I loved seeing the sisters Sawyer, Harper, and Aria’s characters grow and develop as they navigated their various paths, and even though Sawyer is the main character, I have to admit I held a particular affinity for Aria. I hope she’s featured more prominently in other installments. Her strength and resolve just hit a chord within me.
Finally, Ragan can write seriously evil villains, and there is one (more than one, actually) in particular who is — despicable is not a strong enough word — If you pick this up, you’ll see what I mean, and then I predict you’ll feel the urge to scream and rail at this soulless demon much like I did.
You never know what your going to get in a T.R. Ragan series and this first book in the Sawyer Brooks series is no exception.
Three sisters who experienced the unimaginable in their childhood from those they should have been able to trust most. Sawyer is the middle sister and the one her oldest and youngest left behind when they fled the abuse.
Today Sawyer is a investigative reporter who has trust and intimacy issues. After a murder she get a big break and gets assigned to a new team run by an idol of her’s from her college days. At the sametime she gets a call that her grandmother has died back in the one town she swore she’d never step foot in again.
There are many different threads throughout the book – what happened to Sawyer and her sisters, the murder of two teenage girls and another missing from their childhood, a current murder of a teenage girl along with a group a female vigilantes who are exacting revenge on the men who raped them along with the current murder in Sacramento.
If you like dark and disturbing reads I recommend.
It was a good book, but I don’t care about books that talk about incest
T. R. Ragan delivers in her new thrilling series. Don’t Make a Sound introduces crime reporter Sawyer Brooks, a complex and compelling heroine determined to stop a killer as murders in her past and present collide.
An exciting start to a new series with a feisty and unforgettable heroine in Sawyer Brooks. Just when you think you’ve figured out the dark secrets of River Rock, T. R. Ragan hits you with another sucker punch.
