Started out good- ended up with too much witchy, Irish clanny tones.
Wow, we are really not equipped to take care of ourselves!
great series
I hated it, it was horrible
This is am end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it story that is not centered on teenagers. At the start, most of the main characters are in their 20s or 30s. They have experience they use to survive in this changed world. Originally, this was the start of a trilogy. It was intriging enough that I am now on the third book. However, I have discovered there are several more books and even an anthology of short stories set in this world. I am looking forward to staying in this changed world with the mostly good, good guys and the really bad, bad guys.
The only down side to this world is the over dependance on the SCA and the wiccan religion. Personally, it didn’t bother me because I have family members who were involved in the SCA events (or as I called it “Camping in the wood in chain mail.”) However, some people may be bothered by all the people who know how to survive bacause they used to pretend to live in the middle ages.
Mostly, this is a set of stories to have fun with.
I own every book in this series and bought the electronic version so I’d have it available whenever.
This book paints a wonderfully imaginative picture of what could happen if civilization were stripped of its modern technology and thrown back several centuries. The characters are complex, the good ones very likable and the bad ones very scary. The action is realistic and pulse pounding. The dialogue is solid and the plot moves forward at a steady pace.
Liked the character development. Liked the realistic approach to survival. Did not pretty it up. Forced to see how others chose different paths, Forced the characters to make choices. Will read the next one
This is an amazing book, loved it!
