“From here on out here’s how it’s going to go. I play. You play. Don’t hit on me. Don’t flirt with me. Understood?”Handsome, charismatic, and blessed with a voice that brings thousands of fans to their knees, Trent Donovan is a walking cliché. But he has another thing coming if he thinks he can charm his way into my panties.I don’t care if he’s rich and famous because I’m not here to bag a rock … I’m not here to bag a rock star. I’m here to pave my own way. To prove I belong center stage.
There’s just one problem.
The more time I spend on the road with the band, the more I realize Trent’s nothing like the arrogant playboy I expected. We share a love of music, and if I’m honest so much more.
I came on this tour to follow my dreams, but if I’m not careful he’s bound to lead them off track–right along with my heart.
DETOUR is a standalone, opposites attract, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, rock star romance.

Brilliant Story & Narration Awesome Rock Star Romance!
Detour
Off Track Records, Book 1
By Kacey Shea
Narrated by: Jason Clark and Lessa Lamb
I loved every word and every minute of this book. I am a huge fan of rock star romance books and I must say Kacey Shea rocked my socks off with this awesome novel. She is a gifted author, I enjoy her writing style and the story and characters she creates, they are realistic, likable and easy to relate to. The storylines grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. I adored the two leads, Lexi and Trent, as well as his bandmates, Sean Willis and Austin Jones. Trent Donavan is the lead singer of “Three Ugly Guys” he is a player who loves all the women his rock star status brings his way. I loved the camaraderie amongst the bandmates, also loved his relationship with his Mom and a member of his anatomy too, LOL. When the band’s manager tells them they needed to bring in a permanent drummer and that it had to be a female, they come up with a compromise, to keep Iz on as the drummer for their upcoming tour and bring in a female as the opener. That is how Lexi Marx, a new solo artist is joined the tour. Once the boys met her and saw how gorgeous she was they made a pact and deemed her off limits. I loved how everything plays out in this book, Lexi’s determination to succeed on her own, how she and Trent click and start to bond and then learning more about each other, building trust and a friendship which is not easy for Lexi, because of her past and her issues. It was great to see her grow even more as a person by the end, also great to see Trent evolve and change his playboy ways. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is beautifully plotted and flows naturally with plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some great humor and laugh out loud moments, plenty of heartfelt ones and some hot loving and a wonderful romance. Kacey Shea, thank you for this brilliant story, the emotional rollercoaster ride and for casting the perfect narrators to bring your story to life aurally.
I listened to the Audiobook edition, Jason Clark and Lessa Lamb are talented narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to live giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture and project the characters emotions and in their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen, special shout out to Lessa who rocks out some melodic vocals.
This was a great rock star romance. It was realistic in many ways. Trent is a playboy, which is probably expected for a good looking rock star. Lexi is an up and coming artist who joins their tour and she is such a great character- really cool and independent. She is truly a fantastic female character who stands on her own two feet, even with a very difficult past. Trent and Lexi start as enemies but quickly become friends. This is a slow burn romance and it’s important to say that Trent doesn’t immediately stop being a playboy, even after he meets Lexi. However, their chemistry is palpable and I loved watching their relationship grow. I especially appreciated Trent’s growth and we see his strength, loyalty and love for Lexi and his friends really leap off the page, especially as the story progresses. This is a series that follows the band and it is a wonderful introduction to the other characters. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
The book is great. I bought the ebook but I requested and received an early copy of the audiobook and the audiobook elevated the story. It was fantastic. I love Jason Clarke; he pretty much can do no wrong, in my book, when it comes to narrating a story. He manages to distinguish between multiple male characters as well as female characters. It is always a great experience to listen to his reading. Now this is the first time I’ve listened to Lessa Lamb narrate. First, her voice is perfect for Lexi. She has a gorgeous smoky voice with an emotional edge, she sounds like a rockstar (at least what I think one should sound like!) and she has some singing clips! Together, the narration totally elevated the story and made it even more enjoyable than reading the ebook alone.
Audio Review: Detour (Off the Tracks) by Kacey Shea (Author), Jason Clarke (Narrator), Lessa Lamb (Narrator)
Sweet and salty meets smooth as silk and delivers plenty of heart tingles. Shea reminds the heart that a little bit of naughty can feel so very nice. Trent and Lexi bring out the spicy side in more than just listeners if Clarke and Lamb’s delivery is any indication. Jason Clarke makes sure that bad boy wannabe Trent gets under your skin. While Lessa Lamb gives fiesty Lexi the keys to open your heart. From breathtaking attraction to heartwarming romance, Kacey Shea is sure to deliver the goods.
I couldn’t out this one down, it hooked me in the first 3 pages. Creative plot, witty, not too much angst or drama and it held my attention throughout. The characters were well developed and even lovable. Lexi and Trent will melt your Kindle once they find each other. One of the best rock star romances I’ve read.
EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER WANT FROM A ROCK STAR ROMANCE! And yes, that did necessitate caps lock. Detour had me hooked right from the start. The banter, the chemistry, the characterization, the development of the music industry’s world-this story will pull you right in and convince you these people and places are real. This is a super fun read with just the right amount of angst, and it doesn’t hold back when it comes to the steam! I loved seeing the journey both the leads went on and how they discovered so much about themselves while learning about each other and how to be together. Highly recommended to any rock star romance fans, or romance enthusiasts in general!
I am kicking myself for not reading these books sooner! This series has been on my tbr list for quite some time, so I figured I’d give it a chance and it completely sucked me in!
When we meet Trent, he’s you’re typical ladies man, but he’s not misogynistic at all: he was raised single handly by his amazing mom, and knows how to treat women, but doesn’t want to settle down. Especially since his band, Three Ugly Guys (lol) are starting to heat up. Then he meets Lexi.
Lexi isn’t looking for a night in shining armor: after being let down in the worst way by the one man who was supposed to protect her, all she wants to do is play her music. When she auditions to be the opener for 3UG, not only does she see a blast from her past, but she instantly puts Trent in his place! I love a feisty heroine, and Lexi does not disappoint!
I loved how as the book went on, we saw the softer and sweeter side of Trent. He really is a good guy, and he adores Lexi with everything he is. The only question is, will she let him into her heart?
With plenty of laughs and sexy times, this novel is full of humor and heat, but there is also a difficult topic that is mentioned that the author handled beautifully. Don’t miss out on this book guys!
I really enjoyed this book. I am new to this author but I will be reading more from her! Who doesn’t love when a bad boy rock star meets his match? The leading lady is tough as nails and doesn’t take any crap from anyone, including the lead singer. A strong woman and a guy who ends up being the man she needs is always a plus! This book is full of angst, humor, tense moments and love.
Lexi is an up-and-coming rock musician who ends up getting the gig of her life opening for new sensation Three Ugly Guys. She deals with sexism in a male-dominated industry that she has an interesting connection to- but prefers to make it on her own merit. Lexi is tough as nails to protect herself after being let down numerous times by family figures.
Trent is the lead singer of Three Ugly Guys, which is a pop-rock band made up of guys who act like goofy brothers. He is known as a playboy and butts heads with Lexi (who isn’t impressed by his reputation). An incident lands them in proximity to each other, and no matter how much they fight their attraction to each other, they cannot seem to help themselves.
The banter between the band mates as well as between Kacey and the band (especially Trent) was great- witty, funny, spunky, and a bit crazy. The timeline was realistic, and I really liked how the characters seemed to be the opposite of who they actually are- based on their persona.
A fun and fast read with chemistry, fun characters, and plenty of spirit.
I just love stories of hard core rockers that turn soft for the love of a good woman. I loved the dynamics between the characters. A well done book.
Omg Trent and Lexi were great characters . I love when the heroine is a badass and Lexi fits that to a t . Loved it
Trent was great. Love when Prince Charming doesn’t make some stupid mistake… he is just dedicated to Lexi. Lets her do her thing, helps her grow and supports her, never holds her back. Great guy. She is funny too but Trent is my book boyfriend right now
Great start to a trilogy, and I read all 3 and went back to read more books from this author.
Excellent
After meeting the Three Ugly Guys band in Kacey Shea’s Uncovering Love series, I couldn’t wait to get on the bus and go on tour with all of them and experience their life on the road. Kacey soon has readers wrapped up in all their practical jokes, sexual tension, and overall angst. I couldn’t help but fall deeper in love with all of these delicious rock stars and develop a girl crush the size of Texas for Lexi. It wasn’t long and I was drooling and more than ready for Trent and Lexi to get physical and delve deeper into their emotional psyche.
Trent Donovan has sex appeal and charisma oozing from every pore in his body. He is impossible not to love with his easy charm, wit, and his lip biting muscled frame. It was beyond entertaining watching the rock star playboy not only fall for Lexi but also tear down her walls to see the beauty underneath. He captured my heart with his kindness and ability to make everyone laugh. I was enamored from beginning to end.
Lexi Marx is so complex and real behind that rock star kitten facade that she presents to the world. It was heartbreaking but filled me with nothing but admiration after learning of her past and what she has done to overcome it and succeed so far in the music business. Kacey brought us a damaged heroine who needs to grow by leaps and bounds to not associate her past with her future or else there is no hope for her and Trent to be together.
Kacey Shea delivers us a road trip with some rock star hotties unlike any other. I highly recommend Detour for a fun loving, steamy romance that shows that no matter you past, love can see you through anything and everything. Kacey impresses me more with each new character that she introduces or story that she creates. I cannot wait to get up close and personal with Sean next and indulge in some more musician hotness with all of the guys from 3UG!
OMFG! How in the H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS have I not read any of Kacey Shea’s other books before now? I mean seriously it seems like I am discovering new authors left and right lately, kicking myself in the A** for missing out on so many incredible books over the years.
Show of hands – who doesn’t love a good rockstar romance? If you raised your hand, keep reading because you are going to want to hear all about Lexi and Trent’s hot and steamy romance. If you didn’t raise your hand, while keep reading because I may very well convince you to give this story a chance. Seriously how can you not love a story about a “playboy rockstar + a sweet and sassy newcomer”? This story is one that I will defiantly be reading over and over again because I just couldn’t get enough of these two and their undeniable chemistry that was HOT. HOT. HOT!
This story was just what I need to pull me out of this week long book slump I’ve been in. I mean sure I have read a handful of good reads this past week, but nothing has quite captured my undivided attention like this beautifully captivating story. Right from page one I was hooked and before I knew it I devoured this extraordinarily amazing read in a little over three hours – in one sitting nonetheless. I literally could not put this spectacular story down and before I knew it I was turning to the last page. As soon as I finished this story all I could think about is – when is the next book coming out because I need more of 3UG!
Did I convince you to #OneClick this amazing read yet? If not I don’t know what more I could do because you must have been hit in the head one too many times not to realized that DETOUR by Kacey Shea needs to be read by EVERYONE!!!
Detour by Kacey Shea is an awesome listen! I love how the author has created endearing characters of Lexi and Trent. The spunkiness of Lexi was performed so well by Lessa Lamb. Jason Clarke was outstanding as well. Both of them brought the book to life. The humor was an added plus in the story. Kacey does a great job with pulling a listener in with a story that has so many facets; the steam, the banter, the family drama and the love story. I look forward to the next book by this amazing author.
This was my first time reading anything from Kacey Shea. Detour was the first book in her Off Track Records Series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. It was a laugh out loud, fun read. Some parts were a little fast for me but overall, I enjoyed it.
Trent was a rockstar and he fit the stereotype to a T; his drug of choice was women. Why would he want to settle with one when he could have them all?
Lexi was the daughter of a famous musician but she wanted to become successful on her own, she didn’t want it handed to her. When she got the gig of opening for Trent’s band, she was over the moon. Her dreams were finally coming true.
When the lines start to blur between Lexi and Trent, would she allow it to continue, or did her father ruin all musicians for her?
It was super entertaining and had lots of feels! The eyebrows, I died! I woke my husband because I was reading in bed and could not stop laughing!! Trents sudden change to being a one woman man was a little odd, but it was still a great read!
Trent Donavan does not like any female singers so when his label says that they need to add Lexi Marx to the Three Ugly Guys tour, he knows she will be nothing but trouble. When the feisty rocker Lexi Marx meets Trent she thinks he is the biggest manwhore. Slowly Trent and Lexi become friends of sort and when she needs someone the most he is there by her side but how can she trust him when every person in her life has hurt or used her? What happens when Trent and Lexi’s lives take a detour? This was a great story and I liked how the characters developed with the story. I didn’t like Trent but I loved Lexi, she is one hard core rocker who will stop for nothing to get her dreams without riding her Dad’s notoriety. I loved Sean and Austin, they are just two goofballs that anyone would love in their antics.
Loved it!
The characters just don’t draw you in. I usually enjoy this theme but with this book it’s easy to put down.
