Percy is in hiding from the husband who beat her and left her for dead. Lucas is a thief taker and hired by her husband to find her and bring her back. Lucas didn’t expect to be charmed and protective. He didn’t expect to fall in love. Percy has her work cut out for her to convince Lucas she’s no longer a duchess, but a woman in love. An unconventional romance of two people from different levels of society.
Percy definitely deserves her happily ever after. Lucas was awesome! Great story!
I was so happy that Percy has gotten her story and that she found a man worthy of her love and especially her trust in Lucas! Jillian Eaton has long been a favorite author of mine and once again she does not disappoint! It was nice to catch up with the other women from the Secret Wallflower Society!!

The third book in the Secret Wallflower Society series a well written regency story that kept me turning pages. Duchess of Glastonbury Percy is the Duchess of Glastonbury and she is hiding from the husband who tried to kill her. But Lucas Black, the Devil of Duncraven has found her and kidnaps her. I want to read Artemis Bishop and the Duke of Warwick’s story. I recommend this book.
Percy’s abusive controlling husband wants her back after he threw her away out of a moving carriage. Master thief Lucas Black was hired to kidnap her, but once he realizes what she endured by her husband he steals her and hides her away. There were times in the book when he said he had to treat her like the abused horse her once purchased, but then he would get angry and raise his voice. Her friends were foolish going to a tavern in the slums without thinking about what might happen to them to find someone to steal her back. The person they hired Art was an interesting character and it sounds like her story is coming up next.
An interesting twist.
This book looked at a difficult issue and the author did a great job of incorporating it into the piece. I found the Secret Wallflower Society interesting. I liked Percy and Lucas they were great characters. This is not a long book but it is very well-written and with an interesting twist. I have high praise for this captivating tale. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
In this book we get the story of Percy and her kidnapper, Lucas aka the Devil of Duncraven. A real Devil, no…he was sweet and kind and the it really hit me when he was speaking about the horse that he loved. I thought the love story between Percy and Lucas was so sweet and endearing. A great short read that will fill you with warmth. In my mind, Glastonbury will get his in the end. I see that Jillian is planning a story for Artemis. Oh yes, it looks explosive.

I was so pleased with Percy’s story. She was such a wounded soul – both mentally and physically – and I wasn’t sure she could or would find trust, happiness and love but she did! But along came Lucas Black and all her feelings came to the surface, she found her voice and found someone to love. The falling in love happened with strange circumstances, there was an instant attraction between them but there were many obstacles in their way – primarily her abusive husband, the Duke of Glastonbury who is hunting her down and the fact of Lucas Black, the Devil of Duncraven’s past as a thief, etc.
I highly recommend this book and all the books in this series and I cannot wait to read Art’s story!
The blurb doesn’t state this, but the author does at the beginning of the story that it touches on physical abuse. She explains, to reach out to her if you are wondering about what the story is about. I thought that was well done on the author’s part, but I felt it should be included in the blurb.
A reviewer rated this low because she thought she was paying for a 250 page story. This clearly states it is 112 pages – obviously a novella.
I will say this, we are not privy to when the husband was abusing her, it is told after the fact. In the injuries she received and how for the slightest infractions she would be hit. What this author does without describing while it happened, was the aftermath. How the h would jump at the slightest noise, how just a man entering the room would throw her in a panic – you felt her anguish and it was heart wrenching!
Even though this is a clean story in as far no description of lovemaking, there is cheating that you are aware of between the H/h. She is still a married women, so she is content to remain the H’s mistress.
There is some suspense, interesting secondary character’s, we do get HEA, no cliffhanger for the H/h but is for a secondary character. (ljb)
I enjoy Jillian Eaton’s writing style and looked forward to reading Percy’s story. Lucas as a wonderful hero character. The story was a bit of a stretch in historical believability for me. But I overall enjoyed the story.
