Left for dead on the nightmarish surface of the planet, Commander Michael Everhart and his team of Hell Divers barely escape with their lives aboard a new airship called Deliverance. After learning that Xavier “X” Rodriguez may still be alive, they mount a rescue mission for the long-lost hero. In the skies, the Hive is falling apart, but Captain Jordan is more determined than ever to keep … than ever to keep humanity in their outdated lifeboat. He will do whatever it takes to keep the ship in the air–even murder. But when he learns the Hell Divers he exiled have found Deliverance, he changes course for a new mission–find the divers, kill them, and make their new ship his own.
In the third installment of the USA Today bestselling Hell Divers series, Michael and his fellow divers fight across the mutated landscape in search of X. But what they find will change everything.

Having found out the truth about X, Michael sets off with his team, in the new ship, to find him. Both of them were abandoned by Captain Jordan and both are struggling to survive the new world they find themselves in. Can they come together before it’s too late?
Wow! This book!!! Here’s me thinking this series can’t get any better, but yet again I’m proved wrong. This was….. I can’t even form coherent words to express my thoughts!! Brilliant, exciting, intense, action packed, heart pounding, heart breaking and exceptional all come to mind. This author is one heck of a writer!!
We get to see more of Xavier and it was awesome! In book 2, he gets very little screen time and I was chomping at the bit to find out what happened him. Well here we see what his life has been like for the last 10 years and my heart just about broke!! He has survived with only a dog as a companion and his journey across America was shown to us in a series of flashbacks. It was brilliantly written and the world building was amazing. We get to see so much more of the earth now, via X and it’s rife with things that will eat you!!
There were tears rolling down my eyes when Michael found out about X. You could feel his emotions and my tears were part sad and part happy for him. I loved that he set off to find him as soon as he could, and nothing was getting in his way!
Then we have The Hive and it’s captain. I don’t think I’ve ever hated a character as much as I loathe Jordan. He is the worst of the worst and with every action he does, it just made me hate him more. He just proves that evil comes in many forms.
In all, this book was amazing. I have to bow down to this author because he never fails to evoke loads of emotions from me when I read his books! Something happens in this book that crushes my heart and I didn’t see it coming!! The action scenes made my heart pound, the touching scenes had me crying and all the rest had me on the edge of my seat. At one stage, I had a meeting to get to and didn’t take out my headphones till the last second!! I urge everyone to try this series.
I can’t wait for book 4!!!!
When you have a master storyteller, you need a master narrator to truly bring that book to life, and since we have both here, it was a winner from the start!! R.C Bray was phenomenal. His portrayal of X in this book was the best yet. I had no problem visualising him and what he was going through. Bray puts emotions behind his work and that is what makes him so successful, to me anyway!! he doesn’t just read a book, he performs it.
Can it get any better? Why yes. Yes it can!
Love this book and series!
X is still wandering radiation soaked Earth after being betrayed and left stranded. He’s trying to stay alive while all kinds of carnivorous mutant creatures seek his flesh. But he’s not alone. Man’s best friend is by his side.
I adored Miles and thought it was so cool how X made him a doggie suit to protect him from deadly radiation. I did have some fun times imaging how Miles went pottie. LOL There are so many important character’s in this series. All play major roles in making this the mind blowing adventure it is. And X is still my favorite. For him to have such a brave, loyal companion at his side, keeping him from being all alone, made my heart grow.
Commander Everhart, Tin, and his team found Deliverance, a new airship, and they’re tracking X, following the cryptic messages he had managed to send to the Hive. They are closing in but fear they might not get their in time. How long can a man, alone, live on such an inhospitable planet? And if he is alive, will he be sane?
Tin and his team are a well oiled machine. They each know what they must do and get to it. But they also have their own demons that haunt them. The closer they get to X, the worst things become, and I wanted to yell at them to hurry. With the Sirens, huge monster fish, and man eating plants attacking them every step of the way, I just knew someone wouldn’t make it. Feared they wouldn’t.
So many villains. Man and monster. Some you’ll fear. Some you’ll hate. All pose huge threats to our Hell Divers.
Told from two timelines, one for X and one for Tin and his team, the author bout drove me crazy as the times grew closer together and everything started to fall apart. And sharing so many different POVs, instead of being confusing, made the suspense so taut I was gritting my teeth.
Want to read something that will make you feel? Read this series. You’ll feel dread, hopelessness and heartbreak, but you’ll also feel happiness, exhilaration and hope. The author’s choice of ending promises more feels and I say bring it on.
The Hell Divers series is one of my favorite post-apocalyptic, possibly my favorite! The author, Nicholas Sansbury Smith, has become one of my favorite authors as well. I’m very excited that he decided to make this more than just a trilogy. Can’t wait for book 4!!!
In this book Commander Michael Everhart and his team search for the missing and abandoned Helldiver, Xavier Rodriguez. They have no idea if X is still alive or not, but they won’t stop until they get their answer. Then they will return to the Hive to save the ship from Captain Jordan.
This series gets better and better with each book! As always, R. C. Bray does an amazing job with the narration!
I love this book, and the three before it. Great action and story telling, you get lost in a different reality and before you know it time has slipped by and your at the end of the book. That was the Hate part, the book ended and I wanted more, I wanted to keep reading and not wait for the the next book. Back to reality and the wait for book V.
A 5-Star Keeper!
In this powerful third installment of the Hell Divers series, we finally learn the whereabouts of Xavier Rodriguez and glimpse his horrendous ten-year journey on the toxic post-apocalyptic Earth. A lot of loose ends are tied up, however, a few new ones have emerged.
Murderous, megalomaniac Captain Jordan of the airship “Hive” makes the perfect villain you’ll love to hate.
This Post Apocalyptic world will take you on some adventures you might not see coming. Be warned: Violence as well as adult language and situations exist.
Fight for what is right.
Definitely 5 stars! I have read Hell Divers I and II, and three delivered just as the two previous had. If you haven’t read Hell Divers start. Both my spouse and I have read and our son liked it too. Read them all. A really good series!! You know how sometimes you pick up buy a book or borrow or get one from the library and it just wasn’t worth the cost or the trouble or time… THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE BOOKS. I think reading the 1 and 2 first is more impactful that way.
