“We’ll never be done, you and I.” He pushed off her desk. Closed the distance between them with prowling steps, clenched fists, and oh, so much determination. “Too much unfinished business to ever call it over.” He stopped a few steps away from uncomfortably close. Braced his palm on the wall behind her head, forearm brushing the side of her throat. “‘Sides”—he licked his lips, glanced down her … lips, glanced down her shirt—“we never got our hate f**k, baby girl.”
Iris knows he’ll come.
He’ll come lookin’ for what she stole, what she refused to give up when everything went to hell.
Won’t find it, of course.
There’s nothing left but a pipe full o’the good stuff and the dregs of the past that refuse to die.

Stop what you’re doin’, cuz I’m about to ruin the sci-fi stories that you’re used to.
I literally don’t know whether to masturbate or burn my laptop in ritual sacrifice after reading this. Myra Danvers might be the wittiest person alive. Here’s a book you turn the pages fast and you look up and it’s four in the morning. She’s gone light years past writing just a plain old “badass” heroine, and has flat out written Iris as a Magnificent Bastard, and I for one, am about as much an addict now as this protag. MOAR! Look, I don’t do plot summary reviews, so listen: are you a human being? Do you like good fun and foul language? DO YOU LIKE TO BE ENTERTAINED?? Then get in there and read this and join the cult. One of Us! ONE OF US!
Delirium is the perfect name for Myra Danver’s completely whacked and entirely enjoyable trip into space. Her writing style always sucks me in like a black hole, and I go so eagerly, dying to find out what crazy trip we’re going on this time. As always it was fascinating, fun, and totally hot, and left me begging for more like the sadist she is. Delirium is the definition of ‘a trip’.
Iris is a mechanic who uses her talent to repair and sometimes destroy things as she travels on the fringes of the galaxy delivering shipments. Things are going smoothly until her past comes knocking in the form of Big Evil who invades her ship and their reunion is short lived when Iris tries to kill him.
There is a history between them which is mentioned but not in detail. You can tell that Iris did love him but now her hate towards him is so painful that she smokes to get a happy high. What is their history together? Big Evil is a mystery and I can’t wait to have Ms. Danvers unravel his story.
Then there is Daxx, who takes Iris and Big Evil prisoner when he boards her ship. Daxx wants to create a new shipping lane in an area of space which has yet to be explored and he wants Iris’ assistance. She attempts to sabotage his mission when she discovers that there is a sound bouncing off 2 moons where the lanes would go. Is it life? Something dark and evil? Book #2 can’t come quick enough!
I’m struggling to come up with a description for this book so I’ll just say this..
I loved this book. I’m not typically into space sci-fi but this book was a hit. I love that Myra’s main characters are a mess. It makes for such interesting reads and I find myself unable to put her books down because I never know what the heck her characters will do next. If you’re looking for some typical sci-fi romance this may not be the book for you, but if you’re down for a messy main character and an ex boyfriend named Big Evil then I highly suggest giving this a read.
I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
I absolutely loved this second book from Myra Danvers!! Its definitely a departure from her last story but I absolutely loved the darker nature of this badass Sci-Fi storyline!! Highly recommend it!!
What a cliff hanger! Can’t wait to read book 2!
Another entertaining world. I loved that the reader was plunged into Iris’ world with no like build up. No background explanation. It became like a mystery you piece together as the story unfolds. And I really enjoyed that aspect. I think it was a fantastic change from what I see on the market.
The cast of characters are hilarious. Iris holds this amazing spot in my heart cause she is incorrigible! Crass, witty, a delicious sense of humor, imaginative, and well developed.
Make no mistake, this is for reals a dystopian novel. There are many messed up things that happen. But the chemistry with the characters makes it all worth the read.
10/10 will read again.
This was different form anything I’ve read. I love the mc and her strong, smart, savvy, crazy ways. I love the tension she creates with the other characters and the storyline. I really like that even though I have absolutely no idea where this story is going, I’m intrigued and need to know. I really like what this author has done so far and am excited to see what she does next.
What a joy to be on Myra Danver’s ARC list and have a sneak preview of her amazing story telling talent. I love character driven fiction, of any kind and when you can rattle of a couple of pages off with the protagonist doing a bunch of techy things that would normally bore me to tears, and have me sit up and take notice – well then… I’m hooked. And I was, from the opening scene to the very last word. And Iris, the protagonist really does steal this show. She’s the badass of all badasses, women and men alike but she’s the kind of woman we all love instantly because she’s been wronged and we want see that wrong righted—somehow. And Iris knows what she wants or maybe more importantly what she doesn’t want. She’s taking nothing from anyone that she doesn’t want to and she’ll dish out whatever she needs to, to figure it all out. She’s been knocked down, stepped over and tramped on and she’s not taking any shit any more. Of course Iris has her flaws because no character can be without them can they? But you’ll overlook them when you see how clever she is and you’ll be cheering her on, all the way.
Myra doesn’t complicate the story with a lot of characters. She sticks to 5, 6 if you count the cat who really does have his own personality, and she unfolds them well—not revealing everything at once, but giving us just enough to nibble on as things progress. Like Iris they are all memorable, all of them incredibly well crafted, with ulterior motives, a little (or a lot) of lust in their eye, fear and deception all written into their bones. And with just enough good mixed with evil, you’ll love, or love to hate, them all. But when a young girl looks for a hero who’s a little off the ‘goody two-shoes’ track, who’s going to cut through the crap and make ’em all pay, it’s Iris she wants.
Myra Danvers’ style is quirky, engaging, fun and most of all badass. Naturally, like any good first book of a series should, Atom and Evil leaves you hanging and wanting more….
I can’t wait for book 2.
Organized Destruction with Mods, Mech, and Mayhem!
Welcome to the world(s) found in the irrevocable mind of Myra Danvers. We meet The Atom and Evil, known by a variety of monikers, but destructible in, oh, so many ways. Delirium, the first book in her series, is something you will just have to live with, in this technical masterpiece that twists your brain into a creation that absorbs that chaos Ms Danvers creates.
This journey, where you feel you have been hijacked by a comically crazy group of cosmic lunatics, each one worse than the one before, leads you on a trek where space may not be the final frontier. Where the manifestation of the underbelly of space pirates sometimes reveals that each tainted soul has a spark.
You MUST read this uniquely designed Science Fiction tale, where you will meet some very ‘special’ folks who are like no other characters you have EVER met before! Oh, and there is a lot of creative swearing that you will enjoy adding to your vocabulary, as well as some emotional blasts to send you further into space.
I mean, this is really, really good, Sugar Bugs! So you should buy it and read it and tell everyone you know about the author who is bonkers and brazen and beautiful!!!
This book is amazing. I love Fluer/Iris, Big Evil and their chemistry. Their history runs deep and i cant wait to see where they go from here. Your skill of creating a world us readers can escape to, i applaud you, its a true talent. Looking forward to the next book and to see what crazy shit fluer gets up too. Or Iris, for that matter.
Well done i truly loved it
This book was really good! The main character is a bit crazy, but I really liked that about her! She’s complex and relatable because she’s got so much going on under the surface that I can’t wait to read more about in future sequels! This book is a wild ride from the get go. You won’t be bored and you’ll be constantly wondering what Iris is about to do next.
Far from your average sci-fi read, Myra has done an outstanding job of taking a genre and turning into a story that is deliriously twisted, with an extraordinary amount of mayhem and some wonderfully dark humor. There is a beauty in how messed up Iris is, while she remains such an extremely bold, confident, and is an amazing heroine. This is book one and I may have moaned in agony when I realized book 1 was over and I have to wait for book two. 5 huge stars!
”Delirium” is the first book in a new series, and it takes place in space in the future. We follow Iris, a woman travelling alone in her own spaceship hauling cargo from place to place, trying to avoid too much attention from the wrong people and stay alive. She is a complex character, and has a number of both positive and negative traits.
On the positive side, she’s strong willed, intelligent, and ressourceful as well as a true genius at both building mechanical tings (spaceships, droids) and programming them. She’s a truly masterful ”mech”, and on a spaceship there’s very little she cannot do. Somewhat like a futuristic McGyver, who, apart from being a genius mech, also has the skill and creativity to do amazing (or destructive) things with very little to work with.
On the negative side, she is spending her life trying to outrun her shady past and painful memories, and this has led her to a life of drug abuse, as a means of controlling/numbing the memories and feelings attached to them. She is quite unbalanced and vindictive, and a part of it is the influence of drugs and later detox. In short, she is crazy and absolutely brilliant.
In ”Delirium” a person from her troubled past catches up with her, and Iris is forced from her safe haven (safe boring cargo transport and plenty of drugs) and into the midst of a new adventure and crew.
This book ends in a cliffhanger, that is a real game changer for the story going forward, and I’m very interested to see what happens next. So I’ll definitely be following Iris in her adventures going forward.
Wow! I can’t come up with good enough words for how great this book is! This book is for anyone who loves sci-fi, action, adventure, new worlds, strong characters, and is a lover of cats. . . . Lol you have to read the book to realize why I have to add the cat part into it!
Iris is a very strong female character and she has to be for who she goes up against character wise in this book. Big Evil is also a great character. One I have to admit I didn’t like at first, but he grew on me and now I kinda like him.
Overall this was truly a great book and caused me to have a book hangover, but was totally worth it. And I am becoming a bit of an addict for the stories this author writes. She builds such a great world in this book, that is so different from the normal for me. And she knows how to suck me into her world so well I became invested and didn’t want to leave. . . . So go ahead and join me by sinking into Delirium, and buy this book!
This sci-fi book is crazy. The main character is crazy, her ‘love interest’ is crazy, even her cat is crazy! Iris will take the readers into a roller coaster ride. I like this book because it’s not your typical all goody main character. She is spunky, clever, evil (with a heart) and crazy. However, I can see how the other characters are drawn to her unique self. It really makes me wonder more about her past, there were a few hints that were sprinkled in the book. I am looking forward to reading the next one!
Absolutely incredible. What a ride! I loved the characters. Great world building and the ending… Oh yea. Steaming hot, twisted and dark with a healthy dose of in your face crazy. Love me some insatiable and strong female leads. I can’t wait to see how this series progresses but you can bet that I’ll remain on this crazy ride.
I like my heroines feminine and shy…and reluctant. I’ve been spoiled by Myra when she created the wonderfully ethereal Mila in Ravenous Innocence and previously… The Last Tritan. In Delirium, Iris/Fleur is too edgy for my taste and her self-destructive behavior gave me pause. I would still recommend this story to anyone out there who wants page-turning thrillers that’s set in a different universe. I’m definitely looking forward to April for the release of Miss Danvers’ other book, Last Tritan vol. 2
I’m in love with a psycho! The closest comparison I can think of to describe Iris would be The Joker. She is also a serious drug user and a genius of the first order. The funnest part is the fact that she owns all of her flaws and dares others to complain. The dialogue going on in her head can make you feel like you have been caught in a tornado or trapped in a fun house. The fact that her intelligence puts everyone else to shame means that no matter how frustrated people get by her craziness there isn’t anything they can do about it. I love that! I was giggling like a crazy person through parts of this book and if I’m not careful, I might end up in the same padded room Iris belongs in.
This story is a lot more than just amazing Iris, though. There is Big Evil, who has a history with Iris but is still a bit of a mystery. He is Alpah Male material through and through and draws Iris like a moth to a flame no matter how hard she fights it. Then there is Daxx, who thinks he can use Iris but I think he is hilariously mistaken. There is also Shantz, Oriana, and a bunch of AIs, and a cat. Each of them bring another level to the crazy/excitement level.
This is a romance, and there are glimpses of a dark past between Big Evil and Iris that I’m hoping to get more insight on, but the romance part is at a minimum in this one. Instead, you get a lot of character development, amazing world building, and tons of crazy action. The detail is enough to help you stay in the story without dragging the pace, and the dialogue brings a touch of humor. Everything about this one is enjoyable from beginning to end. I believe even someone who doesn’t consider themselves a sci-fi fan would love this one.
I can’t describe just how addictive this book is. I adore the world, tone, writing and the characters; Danvers writes them so well. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but this book will have you on the edge of your seat the entire way through. Iris is one of my favourite characters ever. She’s badass, awesome, fun to read about and just the right shade of crazy. Enthralling from beginning to end. Don’t hesitate, buy it!
Myra Danvers knows how to write I can tell you that. This full length book, grasped my attention within just a few pages. Getting into the head of Iris is one hell of a trip. I enjoyed every page of this book. As I read it so many things popped out at me and it made me feel like this book as just hand picked for me. If you enjoy sci-fyi stories this one is for you. Myra knows how to write space travel, piracy, and violence. I can not wait for book two.
