In this stirring new novel, acclaimed #1 New York Times bestselling author Fern Michaels delves into the remarkable ways in which moments of crises can lead to our greatest acts of courage . . . When Carol Ann “CJ” Jansen lost her beloved older brother, Kick, in a boating accident, she came adrift. Kick had taken on the role of caring for his little sister after their parents were killed in a car … parents were killed in a car crash. Inheriting half his fortune has left CJ financially secure—yet needing a purpose. But suddenly, the career that anchors her life is threatened. CJ stumbles upon information that could implicate her boss in corruption. When the congressman dies of an apparent suicide, the closer CJ gets to uncovering the truth, exposing one shocking secret after another, the more she wonders if she’s also in jeopardy.
Moving to a small New England town for her own protection, CJ gradually begins to engage with her new surroundings. Her blossoming friendship with the owner of a charter fishing boat offers the promise of much more. But before she can claim happiness, CJ must navigate a course through all her doubts and fears, and trust that this time, the water that took so much from her might just lead her safely home . . .

Another great book by Fern Michaels with a fascinating female character. This story offers a interesting story-line mixed with intrigue and romance and a few twists.
Fern Michael is a grab you and keep you wanting more or brings you into the story as everything is happening all around you. I recommand this book to everyone who like intrigue , adventure, mystery , love story’s because that’s what you get every time you open a Fern Michael book and start on your journey that she will take you on. With every emotion that her characters are feeling you are feeling just as much if not more for the character who is about to have ? ?Happen to them. At least that’s what I get from Fer Michael’s books every time I start a new one and if its a series and I’ve got the 3 or 4 books in the series I can’t wait to to finish the first book to start the next book. Two Thumbs up is what I give this book and I’ve only read a grw lines and can’t wait to get the book.
I won a copy of this book from Goodreads giveaways, I was not required to give a favorable review. This is another hit from Fern. This one keeps you on your toes, but also brings closure to CJ after the loss of her brother 4 years earlier, and now her boss the Congressman. CJ ask the only person in her life she trust, her brother’s partner to help her figure out who killed her boss and to fix everything. Her boss is like he dad and he made her the executor of his will. But between Mr. Stinky (the bad guy) and a lot of unanswered questions she finds peace when she is put into witness protection under the get him. But when she end in up in a small New England town near the water, which she fears because both her parents died coming from a boating competition her brother was in when she was ten, and then her brother to a drunk hit his boat with his ski do. But the boat captain she meets doesn’t push her but make her very happy. I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I do.
Engaging story, well written. Enjoyable read.
Enjoyed reading this story.
VERY GOOD READING
Author never disappoints!
Predicable and forgettable!
I enjoyed it!
Annoying characters & terrible dialogue
I enjoyed this book as Fern Michaels is one of my favorite writers. She usually has surprises, twists, original thoughts making characters seem as if neighbors. Her books are easy to read and I have difficulty putting them down.
Very interesting and captivating!!
Another Fern Michaels book that I just couldn’t put down till the end. Great characters, lots of suspense and a book that fully takes you into the story. Great read!
The heroine in this story comes across as immature, loud mouthed and, a drunk. The supporting characters are as bad. The U.S.marshall, another drunk. Maggie, an idiot. Colin was the only character who had any depth. Book could have been much shorter as it takes side trips . The trip to California was one of those trips. Completely unneeded and pointless to the story. Save your time and money. Skip this one.
I had to force myself to finish this book. The plot is so predictable & I got so tired of the detailed description of wine. The main character obviously has a drinking problem!
Don’t waste your time on this simplistic book!
This is a really good read. I wouldn’t consider this a normal Fern Michaels book but is very well written.
Interesting, realistic to a point, and interesting storyline
A LITTLE DIFFERENT GOOD READ
CJ Jansen stumbles upon the corrupt world of her boss and finds herself in jeopardy. She has no family and her job is her life. Caught up in the world of questionable politics after the supposed suicide of her boss, she moves to a small town to hide her identity. She struggles with trust and gradually begins to build new relationships and take a chance on love. Excellent writing as always by Fern Michaels.
Fern Michaels is always a great read
