Awesome book
A senator’s chief of staff all the sudden finds herself with someone trying to kill her. Her boss has committed suicide, or as she believes, he was murdered. She has lost her parents and brother, but has a good friend in her brother’s companion. They go sleuthing and find out more than they bargain for. She finds love in the strangest of places. A real shocker in who shows up to walk her down the aisle.
Another winner for Fern Michaels. Enjoyable journey for the main character who finds her way through tragedy and finds her way through life.
CJ aka Carol Ann Jansen works for a congressman that to her surprise is implicated in corruption. Along with her deceased brother’s partner, she uncovers more and more information always believing that there is more to the story. The story dragged in spots causing this reader to lose interest once or twice. The book wraps up neatly and all questions are answered in the end.
I like Fern Michael’s as an author. But I also find that I either love the books that she has written or they fall in the middle for me. What I mean is that while I don’t hate them they are just okay. That’s where this one fell for me. Even though CJ was a good enough main character and her deceased brother’s long- time lover Colin was good also. They had each others backs even after her brother “Kick” died. Colin is there for her once again as she pulls him into the mystery that SHE gets pulled into.
There was plenty of mystery, action and danger to the story. But sad to say it just really didn’t grab me. Even with the twists and turns I still wish I had liked it more.
It has a good Epilogue with one more unexpected twist in that part as well.
I’m giving it 3.5 Stars on Amazon.
