Another beautifully written book by Dannika Dark. We get pulled in really early in this book to a dark part of the Breed-world. We get to know some of the characters better and I even changed my mind over Shepherd (okay sorry but didn’t really like him much in book 1). The story was really heartbreaking and as per usual, had me all teary-eyed when Raven revisits her past. Some truly comical moments between the team members had me laughing out loud – there are some classic things that you can’t make your brain forget!
Dannika’s writing and story-telling is absolutely brilliant. You feel invested in each of these characters, and what a shocking revelation!! I have marked up so many perfect quotes that I feel a quite-book is in order.
Highly recommend this book, so looking forward to the next one. It’s like a movie, but for your eyes
I loved catching up with Raven and the rest of the Keystone crew. These characters have complex layers that run deep. The banter between Raven and Christian Poe makes for fun reading times. I jumped straight to book 3 after finishing.
Ebook & Audiobook review: Wow, just wow! This book hit all of my emotional buttons from giddiness, laughter, nail biting, to tears. The storyline is well developed and provides plenty of action, suspense, drama, and love interests to keep the book lover engaged. The narrator did an awesome job with providing unique voices and tones for each character and scene. The speed of reading is perfect.
The storyline for this book in the series was based around the black market stealing then selling of baby’s!!!
This one hits all the emotional buttons HARD!!!! There is the obvious horror of the murdered Mother/s & the stolen Baby’s to deal with but we also know poor Gem was a black market child herself, as she confided to Raven in ‘Ravenheart’!! There is also a HUGE trigger for our sublimely surly Shepard in this book, it’s gut wrenchingly painful to read & ‘watch’.
There are questions asked about a team members loyalty, it causes some fractures & mistrust that will need to be navigated carefully to keep the Keystone teams as they are!! More than one character has an emotional decision to make regarding their pasts & how they’ll move into their futures.
As you’d expect of this Author, she manages to inject humour perfectly, even into the darkest of moments. If Deathtrap were a dance it would be a really emotive waltz. The tempo & pace work really well & give us the opportunities to delve ever deeper into Raven & Christian’s relationship, their possible attraction? Budding friendship & the ever growing trust between them!! Raven is starting to really feel like these people could become her ‘family’ & doesn’t want to mess that up!!
There are some really big reveals in this book, some we may have guessed & others were just so out of the blue it was like a gut punch, but in a good way. Surprises in books, good or bad, are always good in my opinion!!!
‘Gaslight’ released on 20th February 18 & I can’t wait to get stuck into what I’m sure will be another pulse pounding, sexy slow burn & surprising read with yet more discoveries, secrets & decisions to be made

The characters are engaging and the story is action-packed and full of humor. I really think the reason I blazed through these so fast was the AMAZING narration of the audio by Nicole Poole. Without that, there definitely would have been some lulls in the story where I would have had the urge to skim. Despite the narration, there were still several plot points that had me rolling my eyes. Also, as much as I really like these characters, there seemed a little bit too much overly-convenient crossovers in their backstories, etc.
~~SPOILERS~~
I’m a little peeved because the romance between Raven and Christian is what has me hooked. It has been dangled in front of us since book 1 and yet again we’re left hanging again, though it progressed (?) sort of? I have a MAJOR problem with how things were left at the end of this book. They declare their feelings, he demands fidelity (even though they haven’t slept together) and she doesn’t ask for the same in return? She’s apparently… OKAY with him possibly continuing to sleep around??? While she’s faithful. That does not sit well with me. Of course, as much as it pissed me off, I’m still in for book 4 to find out what happens!
D. Dark is always a winner!
Loved it
It was a a fun romp as usual!
