Sparks fly when a sexy rock star is reunited with his small town, childhood best friend. With someone trying to tear them apart, can new love survive?
People think they know Jase Connors: former front man for Kings Quarters, successful solo artist, consummate playboy. They’re unaware of his humble roots, unmatched generosity and affection for his family. But Jase is tired from road life. Tired … road life. Tired of road life. Just plain tired. He’s seeking solace and someone who likes him for who he is and not what he became.
Cami Ossining harbored a massive crush on her childhood best friend Jason who ghosted her to pursue rock star fame. Spunky, albeit lonely, Cami remains in her small hometown selflessly caring for everyone around her.

I loved to hear from the perspective of another band mate. We read from the view of Brad in book one, this one you get to dive into the life of Jason aka ‘Jase’. Find out who he runs into when he goes back to his small home town to pay respects to his favorite teacher who has passed. What did his Dear Future Self say? Although, short and sweet, I think it was brilliant and deserves a read. Next I am reading about Oliver in the Joke’s On You and I’m excited.
Jace & Cami had been friends in high school. Jace left town & became a famous rockstar. He left every thing behind when he moved to Los Angeles. The death of his high school music teacher brought him back home. Could Jace coming home change everything for him? Not if his manager, Damon has anything to say about it. Loved this sweet friends to lovers story! Highly recommend!
I listened this audiobook of this one!
This book follows leads singer Jason “Jase” McNamara from Starfish (listen to that one first to understand references)
I liked this story and it makes sense why it was fast as they had been childhood friends with possibly always a little more underlying.
Jase trusted Damon annnnddddd BAM lol
Tim Paige ROCKS! Kelsey Navarro ROCKS!
Audio Review
Fantastic novella and left me wanting so much more of Jason and Cami. This is book two in the Starfish series and in book one Jase aka Jason is a big time player. A different woman at each concert venue. Two of his bandmates from Kings Quarters have found happiness and settled down but that isn’t in the cards for him right now. He has went out as a solo artist and doing great but he pressure is real so when he gets a call to come home he welcomes the break. Cami can’t believe she is setting here across from Jason, aka Jase, after all these years. They were best friends a lifetime ago and now he is famous. She has some heartbreak to mend from him from their teenage years and not sure it is worth the effort.
This is a great story of old friends that lost touch but never lost the feelings they had for one another. It also shows us how the party boy Jase does have a heart and just want that one woman that loves the real him and not the famous version of him.
Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro do a great job. I loved listening to this book, my only complaint is I wanted more. It’s such a great story.

I received a code from Audiobook Obsession to listen and review with my honest opinion. 5 stars for me. Loved it and recommend it. It is a stand alone so you don’t have to listen/read book one, but it is great and I recommend it as well.
Jase Connor, front man for Kings Quarter is willing to give it all up to get the girl in this super sweet Friends to lovers novella.
Tim Paige did a fantastic job narrating, oh can’t forget Kelsey’s cameo in epilogue sweet.
Review for Audiobook Obsession
Jase – the lead singer of King’s Quarters (who we met in Starfish) get a call that his favorite high school teacher has passed away and he’s been named in the will. Upon returning he reconnects with his childhood best friend Cami. Only problem is…Cami isn’t too happy to see Jase. The sparks fly but sometimes they are too hot.
This second chance romance novella was a perfect follow up to Starfish.
Their favorite high school teacher had each of his students write a letter to their future selfs and this is the premise of the story. Has Jase fulfilled his dreams? Has Cami? And since their falling out are they able to reconnect as their favorite teacher always wanted them to?
He was a smart man who made it hard for them to NOT deal with their unfinished business, which led to some ups and down and some cold and HOT moments!
This is a quick, fun, short listen that offers all the feels. Narration by Tim Paige and the epilogue by Kelsey Navarro brought the story to life for me.
I started this one with super high expectations because I really loved Starfish. Dear Future Self was really good for a novella and it was great to revisit the Starfish characters, however it was still a novella with a much less time to develop the story. The main characters did have a history to build on, but it still came across as more of an insta-love feeling.
You don’t have to have read Starfish to enjoy this one, but Starfish was pretty great so you should listen to that one first anyway (and the Audible version of Starfish is the reason why Erin Mallon is currently my favorite narrator).
I listened to the Audible version. Tim Paige was a new-to-me narrator and he did a great job. Kelsey Navarro had a short part and she’s one of my favorite narrators so it was fun to hear her voice. I would definitely recommend the audio version.

Audio review
Tim Paige brings Jase/ Jason to life perfectly in this delightful audio of Lisa Becker’s Dear Future Self! I was so pleased when I found out she had written this novella follow up to Starfish as Jase was just so much fun in it and I longed to see him fall in love!
This audio is a touch of perfection which has gladdened my ears and made me smile. And that epilogue! Gorgeous!!
An absolutely perfect second chance romance. I loved listening to these two’s story both past and present and seeing them find their way back to each other no matter what the obstacles were. Such a fun, fast listen.
Dear Future Self was such a cute novella! I ended up listening to this book fairly quickly and enjoyed the second chance romance between Jason and Cami. I liked the premise of having Jason enter Cami’s life again and how they reconnected. Their romance was so sweet even though it had a bit of insta-love, but that is to be expected when reading a novella because the story line moves so fast!

Story: 3.5
Narration: 4.5
Overall: 4
I enjoyed the narration by Tim Paige & Kelsey Navarro. I don’t think I’ve listened to another audiobook with Tim Paige and he vocalized Jason perfectly. I could easily differentiate the different voices that he was trying to narrate and I thought overall he did a great job! The chapter by Kelsey Navarro was narrated perfectly and I’m glad we got to see a glimpse of the story through Cami.
Dear Future Self was a quick listen and I enjoyed this sweet friends to lovers/second chance romance!
I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook from the author.
I loved this second book in the Starfish series! Even though is was a novella, I really cared for, and became invested in Jason and Cami’s second chance at love. They were best friends who were becoming more when Jason left Cami behind to become a successful rock star. Now he is home for a funeral and he and Cami must work together to plan it. It is a bit rough at first with Cami feeling hurt from being forgotten so easily. But the more time they spend together, getting to know each other now, old feelings and desires come back to life. Jason wants to be a better man for not only Cami but for himself. But it won’t be easy to make it work when their careers take them so far away from each other. This is a sweet, and sizzling romance brought to life flawlessly by Tim Paige, and a cameo from Kelsey Navarro. Paige really captured the feel of this friends to lovers romance. He did a great job with the different voices and his inflections were spot on. This is a quick and enjoyable addition to the Starfish series!
I really tried not to like Jase…I mean, come on, he went solo and kept that rat b@stard, Damon, as his manager! Then we met Jason, the guy from small-town OH who grew up as a choirboy. The guy who loves his parents and still has a thing for his childhood friend. When he has to return home as a condition of his hs music teacher’s will, Jason is reunited with Cami. Once they get past the initial angst, Jason and Cami team up to plan Mr. Hancock’s funeral. Included in his last wishes is to distribute letters that students wrote to their future selves 20yrs ago. This is a great follow up to Starfish…especially since everyone gets their just desserts! Highly recommend this book!

Dear Future Self: A Starfish Novella
Starfish: A Rock Star Romance, Book 2
By: Lisa Becker
Narrated by: Tim Paige, Kelsey Navarro
One of the reasons I loved “Starfish”, the first book in the series was the amazing characters, I was so happy to hear Lisa Becker was not done with them. Jase Connors was the lead singer of “Kings Quarter” before the band imploded, Damon, the band’s manager took Jase out on his own and he became a successful solo artists. While on tour his Mom calls to inform him Mr. Hancock, his HS teacher who he had a good relationship with, passed away. Jase returned home for the funeral, he also learns Mr. Hancock left something in his will for him. Cami Ossining was good friends with Jase, they’ve known each other since they were young kids, she knew him when he was just Jason McNamara, the kid next door and boy she crushed on, but he went on to be famous and forgot all about her. When Jase went to the reading of the will she was there, while he was glad to see her, she was not thrilled to see him and he could not understand why until he realized how he treated and ignored her. But the two had to work together to follow thru on Mr. Hancock’s last wishes. I loved how everything plays out in this book, also love how much story Lisa Becker managed to fit in this novella sized book. It is well written and cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some heartfelt moments and some hot romance. It was great to hear a little about Brad and Marin, great to see Damon has not changed his conniving ways, too NOT! So glad all works out in the end and they get their happily ever after. Thank you for another awesome story, I loved the premise of “Dear Future Self”, loved Cami and Jase’s letters too and Mr. Hancock’s sly move.
I listened to the Audible edition, Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro are talented narrators and voice artists. Tim Paige is a rock star, he portrayed Jason perfectly, captured his personality and all his emotions which can be heard in his performance, he did a great job with all the other characters too. Kelsey Navarro knocked it out of the park in the final chapter with Mia’s POV, she too grasped her character’s persona perfectly. Both are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
Dear Future Self: A Starfish Novella
Starfish: A Rock Star Romance, Book 2
By: Lisa Becker
Narrated by: Tim Paige, Kelsey Navarro
Jason comes home to the reading of a will from one of his teachers and meets up with his old best friend, Cami. And the sparks fly. Hurt, miscommunications, lust and just good old history meld these two together in a way that only Lisa Becker can bring out. I was captivated by the two. I loved Jase. He is exactly as I picture a famous rock star, a little full of himself, generous but realizing there is more to life. I love Cami. She is secure in her life, loves being a music teacher and knows her feelings. I loved the Girl Scout, give me a box of thin mints any day, and the Dear Future Self letters. It’s so much fun to see your past you! It’s a quick listen, it’s fun, humorous and a great way to spend a couple of hours!
Tim Paige is a fantastic story teller and he brings all the characters to life. He gives Jase the perfect voice. A little cocky, yet very and makes him very believable. He quickly can change to Cami, and bring her feelings to light. Add in the end with some fun with Kelsey Navarro and this novella rocks it!

The narration but Tim Paige and special guest Kelsey Navarro was absolutely perfect!!
I recommend this book!
Sisters Spotlight
I had the opportunity to listen to Starfish. When the opportunity to read Dear Future Self arose, I took the chance since I loved Starfish so much.
I must say that it did not disappoint.
The opportunity to read Jase’s HEA is a must!
Jase is known more as a playboy rockstar but his second chance with sweet Cami is one of those that makes you hold your breath and sigh.
It’s swoony. It’s steamy and overall it’s fulfilling.
I loved it all and I loved going back into this world of rockstars. f
I will highly recommend this series and Lisa? You’re on my watchlist.;)
4.5 stars
Dear Future Self is a quick read but packs a punch. When Jase has to return home to attend an old teachers funeral and will reading, needless to say he doesnt count on seeing his past come back bigtime.
This book follows him and Cami and how the reading of the will forces them to work together, albeit begrudgingly. Can they let bygones be bygones or do feelings resurface?
I really loved the way Cami looked after those close to her and it frustrated me that Jase had some issues with his management. In the end I thought it was a great look into how our past can shape our future. A really good read.
Do you have just a little time to read? Then pick up this novella and get lost in the world of music and romance.
This story picks up after Starfish but can be read on its own. Granted you might understand a few of the characters and Jase’s life if you do read Starfish first, but not required.
Jase finds himself back in his hometown working with his high school crush on a project for a teacher that passed away. I wonder if the teacher knew that these two belonged together and just needed a nudge in that direction? Whether that was the teacher’s objective or not, it worked. Jase and Cami become inseparable once again. But the road to happiness isn’t easy as a certain someone tries to come between them, testing their friendship and love for each other.
This is a sweet romantic tale that made me smile, growl at the bad guy, and even made me laugh a time or two. Definitely worth the read.
Dear Future Self by Lisa Becker is a great short read for those busy days where you need to unwind with a steamy novella.
Will Jase change his playboy ways to be with Cami?
Jase
Jase was the frontman for King’s Quarters and know he is a solo act. Just he isn’t feeling it like he used to. After getting news about his old English teacher dying and that he was named in the will. Jase goes back home to find out what the teacher left him. Not only that, but to maybe finally get the girl of his dreams that is really in his past.
What I like about Jase is that he is a hothead at times, but that is just an act. He is a sweet guy when he isn’t acting like a rock star. Jase used to be, and kind of still is a geeky kid that was in the church choir and choir in school.
Cami
Cami knew Jase when he was a little kid up until he changed in their sophomore year of high school, and he shut her out of his life. That hurt her, and she grew up as well. Cami is now a high school music teacher and lost a lot in a short amount of time. Although she is gaining a lot more as well.
What I like about Cami is that she fights for what she wants until she doesn’t have any fight left. She also doesn’t put up with Jase’s problems either.
Five Stars for Dear Future Self by Lisa Becker
Ms. Becker wrote another great book. In this one, we follow Jase and him finding someone that he wants to be his forever girl. He has a lot to prove to her and to figure out somethings about himself while honoring his old high school English teacher’s wishes. It is wonderfully written, and I can’t wait for more from Ms. Becker.
I am rating it five stars and recommend it to adult readers only.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

“Dear Future Self” is based off one of the characters we meet in the book ”Starfish,” but can very well be read as a standalone. However, if you’re a stickler like me about reading order, I would recommend starting with “Starfish” first, only because there are some minor spoilers about the events in this spin-off novella. With that said, I immensely enjoyed learning more about Jase, from his current situation to learning about his past, parents and former friendship. He may have been all prankster and ladies’ man lead singer with Kings Quarters, but this story brings out a softer and more caring Jase as an unseen circumstance brings him back home and face to face with his childhood friend, Cami. Cami is the ideal “girl next door” and I love her spunk and stubbornness when it comes to Jase. I adored everything about this sweet romance! The author brings out such heart and emotion in her storytelling while adding layers of backstory and obstacles to overcome, and probably my most favorite talent of hers is how she cleverly ties in the meaning of the title to a significant event in the book, which makes you swoon and sigh, and yes… you’ll just need to read it for yourself!
