Deadly Games It Is…
Wow, wow, wow. Talk about being lured into a storyline. All it took was the first few pages and I was hooked. Do we have a suicide or a murder? Just what deadly game is being played here?
We have a widowed young mother who happens to be a detective. Her very loving husband is found dead, leaving a suicide note behind. She just can’t wrap her trained, investigative mind nor her personal, loving wifely convictions around his death…. she just can’t convince herself it was suicide. Now, months later, she receives a cryptic note from an inmate wanting to talk. This brings about more doubt. She now is on a mission, a mission to find out what happened, what is the truth. Why is Kim’s husband dead?
All of this takes place in the first few pages…. and that just barely touches upon the intrigue, the mystery, the events beginning to take place. Yes, the title of this book is apt…. deadly games it is. But never doubt the love of a wife and mother who knows how to search out the truth. After all, her training has served her well.
Her new partner has his own story. He has dodged death at least two times…. why, how? Could it be someone was looking out for him? As the Good Book says…. all things work together for good for those who love the Lord.
I love a good redemption storyline. This one does not disappoint. We have nightmares, murder, intrigue, blackmail, and last but not least, we have redemption … and we have love. Perfect…. simply perfect.
I was absolutely spellbound as I raced through Deadly Games, a very exciting, Christian, romantic suspense book. I could not put it down. The story stayed with me long after I had finished the book! As Kim and Josh raced to identify the killer(s) and keep Kim’s son safe, I felt I was in the story with them. Rose Verde is a very talented author. This story just blew me away!
Rose has a way of bringing her characters to life. I loved the spiritual journey Kim and Josh each walked through during the trials they faced in the book. This one kept me guessing until the end.
Police officer Kimberly lost her husband to suicide but her nagging doubts have kept her from moving on with her life. Someone is watching her. Her new partner is arrogant and doesn’t want to partner with a woman. Can they work together? Can she trust him? Can she find the truth before it’s too late?
Josh lost his partner, a woman who made him second guess his life as a player. Was it his fault that she died? Now he’s gun shy about working with another woman but there’s something that draws him to Kim and her son. Now someone is after her, can he keep his distance and keep her safe? Can he trust the God that she holds onto and he pushed away?
This book is worth the read.
Who doesn’t want Kim Walker investigating the suicide verdict of her husband’s death? Was it a suicide? Why doesn’t her new partner, Josh, was to partner with her? Are the threats dangerous to her son? Rose Verde keeps the action going and the questions coming. I was compelled to keep reading to answer all these questions.
I was fortunate enough to read the ARC of Deadly Games, however, instead of writing a review, I downloaded the book from Kindle Unlimited to read it all over again. It’s THAT awesome of a story! Kim and her son Davy storm into your heart from the very beginning. I loved Kim’s faith, and her no holds barred approached to witnessing, or rather, calling Josh out on his lack of faith! Josh and Kim are perfect as partners as they figure out who is trying to harm Kim, and how it is linked to her deceased husband. Deadly Games has amazing characters that make you hope this is the start of a series, and a storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat ;o) even when it’s your second time through the book!
Kim is does not think her husband committed suicide but can she prove it? Josh’s first female partner died and he feels guilty. These two have a rocky start to their partnership. I loved the suspense and how sassy both of these characters are with each other. There is romance but the suspense and mystery kept me reading. I did not feel like it ended on a cliffhanger but would love a book 2.
