This book was my salvation from a horrible book slump.
Pam Godwin has long been one of my favorite go to authors, yep, a one-click favorite for sure and this first book in her dystopian romance series only confirms all of the reasons I feel that way.
This story is unique in so many ways and this first installment in the series will sweep you up into the wave and spit you out on shore completely disoriented. I love the horrifying highs and lows of emotion and thought provoking themes throughout. I keep telling myself it’s fiction, but the climate in today’s world, who knows…could something like this really happen? And would I be one of the survivors?
Well Eve is, in fact Eve is the only human woman to remain unaffected from the havoc reeked by a madman. And he’s found her, and he has plans. Fortunately, Eve is not as alone as she thinks and if adversity teaches us nothing else, it teaches us to adapt.
I’m beyond excited to see where this author takes us next.
This is a very intense, dramatic and suspenseful start to this series. You are quickly engulfed in the complex, entertaining storyline. Set in a sci-fi/post apocalyptic world, this book keeps you guessing and on edge. With a plot that seems all too plausible and all the more terrifying because of it, this book sometimes hits to close for comfort. There is much pain, suffering, brutality and outright horror here; so tread with caution, because this will not be for everyone. Really looking forward to reading the next book to see what happen.
This is by far, one of the most “out of the box” books I have ever read and I loved every word! No one genre can begin to fit this book. My best attempt at categorizing it goes like this–apocalyptic-scifi-urban fantasy-action adventure-paranormal-erotic romance with elements of horror. Phew. It definitely has something for everyone but won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.
While the genre may be suffering from multi personality disorder, the story is not. Dead of Eve is grounded by one kick-ass female lead, solid writing and a host of complex characters. It’s thought provoking, touching, and thrilling adventure.
What’s a kick-ass, sex addicted woman to do after a mutant virus takes away everything that has ever meant anything to her, leaving her the lone female in a world full of men and mutants? Answer: Kick ass, find a new reason to survive and have lots and lots of sex!!!
An apocalyptic virus, hordes of mutant aphids, three sexy guardians, one sex addicted heroine, and a psychotic villain, all combine to make one exhilarating read. By description alone, this book would seem so over the top and campy but the experience is far, far more complex and emotional than you’d think. I highly recommend this to anyone in who needs to break out of a slump or just enjoys the extra-ordinary. Bring an open mind and a sense of adventure and you will surely enjoy the Dead of Eve.
My mind is blown, I’m still trying to think about what I’m going to say in this review so I’m winging it. I finished this in two days, Pam Godwin’s writing has a way of being disturbing, heartbreaking and beautiful all in one. Every book I’ve read from her has been just that but this Post Apocalyptic Paranormal read was just SOMETHING. And I mean that in the most positive way.
4.5/5 gruesome, beautifully disturbing STARS
The series is Post Apocalypse Paranormal RH, but disclaimer right now. Dead of Eve is a bit slow in the romance department, this book is more forced on how Evie survives the trauma and heartbreak of loosing her husband and children to the outbreak and being the only women in the world amongst men. Evie’s survival is is ROUGH and what she goes through after with her husband by her side but it only gets gruesome after his death. If you’ve read Pam Godwin before you do know you need to proceed with caution.
“Trust mind, body and soul, your guardians”
The outbreak in the world is overtaken by Nymphs/Ahpids that we later find out what they are and why they exist. The outbreak took out children and elders but turn women and men into these monsters but of course no Evie, she seemed to be immune to them. Definitely recommend if your looking for something different and unique. The action, the suspense and the entire post apocalyptic world was definitely out of my reading genre but i was not disappointed on bit. This story was every bit action, suspense and intriguing to read that had me turning each page. Don’t get me wrong, it did take me two days to read because like i said some parts were a bit gruesome for me that i did have to take a break. Evie’s love for her husband was still there after his passing , and growing enamored by the men protecting her after what she’d gone threw. World building, Character driven, slow burn action suspense!! Definitely looking forward to finishing the series.
“The Eve of the beginning”
This book was okay. I liked the whole idea behind the book and I even liked some of the characters but I just felt like there was a little too much going on. Evie is one of the strongest main characters that I have ever read about but the world building and how slow moving most of the book was made me choose not to continue with the series. I might just not be in the mood for it but it felt a little slow and a little wordy to me. But the premise is very interesting and I might pick up the series again when I am more in the headspace for it.
Great story! My favorite brain candy books are apocalyptic fiction and romance novels. This book combines the best of both and sets a good backdrop for the next book in the series. The main character is pretty awesome.
Did I really just finished this book? Because I am still in awe of this story…the author has dragged my heart through a wringer.
I absolutely am in love with this creation by author Godwin.
A dystopian Romance which plays with your heart strings at the same time punch you in the face with the action packed suspense.
Eve..( I am seriously in love with this woman.) …is the last woman remaining on earth when all children and other woman have succumb to the disease from a virus which transforms human into Ravenous creatures called aphids.
Only Eve is the one left unaffected and also with some inhuman abilities. Now she is on a quest to find out more. And this journey of hers will leave spellbounded and in tears.
If you have a love for zombie movies and want to mesh it with Romance and heartbreaking emotions then this book is for you…
Even if you don’t…still read this one.. because this one be one of your top read in a long time…
Devastatingly beautiful!!! Pam Godwin absolutely broke me with this story!!! Dead of Eve is a sci-fi, paranormal, end of world story that had me in tears with everything Eve has gone through! This is a dark story with triggers but worth it to!! Had in a love square and your mind will spin!! Eve’s character is everything that you think of when it comes to a strong female character, where most would crumble she continues to slay. Intense, savage, and heart breaking! Grab your copy now!!!

Guys I seriously cannot believe what I just finished reading yesterday. I wanted to share yesterday right after I finished but didn’t had an edit done and review wrote down for it.
Pam Godwin whyyyy didn’t I find you earlier in my life??!!! I’m obsessed with your books.
Dead of Eve is the first book in the Trilogy of Eve. This was definitely not what I was expecting to find once I started reading but I’m so glad I did. There’s not a simple, single genre to describe this book. It was an explosion of so many incredible elements. This brought a mix of sci-fi, horror, suspense, paranormal and dark romance to blow your mind.
I was on edge all the way until the end. I couldn’t for the life of me put this book down. I thought I was gonna take a few days to finished but once I got into the story I just HAD TO finished. Dead of Eve is completely action pack and the mystery was nail bitingly good.
I completely recommend to go in blind. Eve character was A MAYOR BADASS chick. A force to be reckoned with. The things this woman overcomes and fights would make any man tremble. Eve had some KICK ASS fighting skills, immunity from this man eating virus and 3 men that will do ANYWAY to protect her.
This book can definitely become a hit as a movie. I could definitely see myself with popcorn in hand, first in line on premier day at the cinema. Absolutely brilliant. Now on to book 2 because I’m super curious of what’s next for Eve and human kind.
So when I saw the blurb for this I knew I had to read it. Dystopian romance is one of my trash tropes. But this was on a whole other level. Absolutely original take on the trope and I was captivated throughout the book with Eve and this world.
The story centers around Eve the last remaining women in a world after a virus that transforms humans into ravenous creatures known as aphids. After losing what no woman should ever have to lose she embarks on a quest for answers to the virus. Battling against the remaining men and monsters She discovers that she has some special abilities of her own as well as a few tasty men on her side. The entire book is jam packed with action and emotion.
I don’t know how Pam melded all these things together so effortlessly but this was an epic read for me. If you love zombie movies, end of the world novels, horror, steam, a touch of supernatural vibes, and can handle some darkness I highly recommend checking this one out. Even if you don’t think a romance with monsters and scifi touches is for you this is so amazingly done I would say it will convert you.
Okay y’all, here’s the thing. @theinfinitereader.blog has created a monster inside me with @pamgodwinauthor She introduced me to Sea of Ruin and I instantly fell in love with her writing.
When I first started following Mickey, I saw her review on this series and added it to my TBR immediately. I mean seriously, can you blame me? Look at the cover! And let me tell you, this book did not disappoint.
I might be getting ahead of myself, but I think it might possibly be a new favorite. Not to mention, I think I like it better than Sea of Ruin (which I freaking loved). Pam freaking killed this book. Before I read it, I thought it was going to be your typical end of the world zombie story. NOT. EVEN. CLOSE. The book follows Eve, the last living woman, through her battle to find the cure for this epidemic. Being the last woman on earth, the men she comes into contact with treat her exactly like you’d expect, like a piece of meat, except three. Jesse, Roark, and Michio make it their sole purpose to protect Eve by any means possible.
If we’re being honest, no words that I write here will do justice to this incredible book. So basically what I’m saying is, drop everything you’re doing/reading right now, and start this book. Its so good, so much action, some steam (apparently the second one is sexier, cannot wait!), and some sexy men. I cannot wait to continue the series! Pam Godwin, you killed it! Way to go! Thank you for sending me this book in return for my honest opinion!

Not in a million years did I think I would read a book such as this. This is NOT the type of book(s) I read. I have NEVER read a series with this type of storyline, but after reading the free novella (HEART OF EVE, book #1.5), I just had to know more! Pam’s writing made me want more!
I will say, this book was not easy to read because it didn’t shy away from tough-to0-read scenes (which I wouldn’t of expected anything differently. That’s one thing I love about Pam’s writing, she gives the reader ALL the gruesome, love and everything in between). Nonetheless this story did consume me and my intrigue never wavered. My heart was racing most of the book! I could NOT put it down! I was always anticipating the next fight scene or the next battle between Eve and the Aphids.
DARK OF EVE is definitely of the darker variety and there might be some triggers for some readers throughout. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a romance. YES, there is love in the story…there’s men that help her through this journey of survival she’s in, but it’s difficult to have “romance” in the middle of an apocalypse. Three guardians. Three reasons to care, to fight, to live. Together we watched the sun bow below the horizon in veneration for the eve that followed. The eve of the beginning.
This book is about a virus that takes over the world, killing every woman and child and turning the men into creatures called, Aphids. Some woman that didn’t die, turned into Nymphs, neither human nor completely Aphid. Eve is the ONLY woman left alive in the world. This is very much HER book. It’s about her surviving this apocalypse and finding a cure and along the way, she finds guardians to help her survive and find answers. Stay alive. Seek truth. Don’t look back.
Jesse: He would protect me from madness. “A Lakota guards my mind.”
Roark: He was my believer, my sense of direction and… “The guardian of my soul.
Michio: I relied on Michio to care for my physical health and Yang. “Of course, a doctor guards my body.”
I am jumping right into book 2 after this, I am anxious to see where this story goes!
5 stars
This is not an easy feel-good story.
It’s a brutal tale of survival and tragedy.
where a woman has to rise above her grief and play the hand she’s been dealt.
This was unrelentingly intense, remorseless and savage and at times it brought me to my knees and had me sobbing like a baby.
The pain, misery and torment the unfairness of it all and the depravity of what people are actually capable of when you peel back the layers of civility and expose the rotten carcass.
In Evie’s case, this journey showcased her courage and humanity.
Her sheer will to survive and what she will do to accomplish this surviving by any means necessary.
She is such a strong and capable individual and thanks to her husband has mad survival skills that will help keep her breathing in this new apocalyptic world.
Along this path, Evie has been forced to travel there are still some good individuals left that provide her with a sort of hope to offset the many that don’t.
So this is a hard one to actually classify and pin down It crosses so many boundaries and doesn’t define itself.
There’s also a deep spiritual undertone to all this and that’s probably the only thing I was slightly unsure of initially.
This went places I wasn’t expecting had some fantastic characters the husband Joel, the priest Rourke also Evie’s savage watchdog Jessie and Michio.
Got to say though my favourite was definitely the priest he had all the best lines and I bloody adored him.
This really was a fabulous adventure full of unexpected twists that enthralled me from the second I picked it up, highly recommended.

Dead of Eve is the first in a page-turning series full of emotional highs and lows, intense, protective guardians, and a woman who learns how far she will go to survive in a world that has changed beyond recognition.
I was so thoroughly consumed by Pam Godwin’s ability to create this new world where Evie is the only female survivor of an outbreak that swept throughout the whole world. This unique plot is filled with twists and turns, and will keep you guessing until the very end. Prepare to fall in love with this story that falls into so many categories it has created its own.
Pam Godwin is a favorite of mine, and she did not disappoint here either. I cannot wait to read the next installment to see where Pam takes Evie next.
This was my first of these type of novels from the author. It takes a bit for it to get going but once it does your hooked!! I have loved everything I’ve read from the author and each book keeps me entertained and gives me an escape from reality. Definitely worth reading!!
Ok…so let’s talk Dead of Eve. This book was an absolute TRIP! It is an on the edge of your seat, nail biting, scary as hell, action packed, gory, and dark sci-fi/post apocalyptic romance.
From reading the blurb (and from reading other Pam Godwin books) I was highly expecting this book to be more erotic or sex heavy than it was. That’s not a complaint at all. This first book I think was meant to be more plot focused than anything else because there is so much to uncover and learn about this new post apocalyptic world. So to me this is a story about survival more so than it is a romance, which is fun and heart pounding but it also has its drawbacks. The biggest problem I had with Dead of Eve was that I didn’t feel connected to the characters (both separately and together) as much as I would like. I felt connected with Eve most of all as we see through her POV the whole time but we don’t really get to learn much about our three handsome saviors. I do believe that we will have more time to focus on this foursome in book two. At least I hope we will. I love a good reverse harem/ménage romance but Dead of Eve doesn’t deliver in that sense (again here’s hoping book two comes through). I really want to like these relationships but it’s not completely believable or convincing at this point.
Dead of Eve was unlike any other book I’ve ever read. It had a Walking Dead vibe to it in the sense that it was full of violence, blood, grit, and action. If you are squeamish I highly recommend you don’t read this book. I had to put it down a few times. I also was overheard by my husband saying “OH MY GOD! EW! WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK!” Trigger warnings for: rape, bloody scenes, graphic scenes, violence, death, and huge ass bug creatures called Aphids
Overall rating 4 stars
Steaminess 2 stars
I love Pam Godwin books and when I notice that I had not read this series I knew I would love it. It’s a little different then what I read but in a good way. Its always good to try something new. All I can say is wow! Evie is the victim, the hero and all around bad ass! She has some much tragedy and the beginning of the story that you don’t know how she even gets out of bed. Well Joel her husband is her strong amour. He has lifted her up and made her stronger. I don’t want to give away spoilers of the story because it’s a book that you need to read. You won’t be disappointed. If your looking for a book that has suspense, lust, dark evil scientist, and a couple of sexy hero. This is the book to read. I received this book for my honest review.
Eve is a strong woman who has lost her whole family but, who also happens to be the last female on Earth because something in her makeup is making her immune to the disease. What an amazing book.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have to say that the plot of this novel or series is a complex one. The last woman on the planet and humanity is dying out. That is a lot of weight for one soul to carry on their shoulders. Eve knows that she has to survive all the while being hunted, treated terribly, and meet three that are willing (kind of) help her survive and protect her. The three guys are just as complex and beautiful as the rest of the story that is being laid out before us. But this in the first book in the series and there is still a lot more to come. The world is wonderful detail and is most of the writing in this story. I would almost say lyrical. I loved that it was harsh and did not use any writing trickery to move the story along. Just really wondering word magick. Who knows what is else to come in two books and novella that conclude this series. I know that I want to find out.
I went in reading this book thinking it was going to be similar to Pam’s other series, boy was I wrong.
I normally wouldn’t read end of world/mutant type books. However, I have to say it was weird but really good.
Kept my interest throughout the whole book. Can’t want to read Blood of Eve!
