Great history of black white relations during the 60’s. We haven’t changed much!
Although I haven’t finished the book, I find myself rushing through chores to get back to the book. The author writes with a finess that draws you into the story. You’re creeping down the scary stairs with Smokey, feeling the tension and apprehension. I felt myself mentally straining neck to peek around the corners, thedoors, the brick walls.
Love all the characters. Their depth. Yet, especially at this time in America, the different races are stretching their own misperceptions to give each other room to become a full, interesting and complete person unencumbered by skin tone.
Very suspenseful crime mystery with lots of historical back ground. Eye opening.
Unusual detective work and scary scenario. Realistic in that the whole story was
a possibility of what happened in the past and we were brought into the realization that is was happening now. Couldn’t put the book down.
Right from the start the Story had a Uniqueness to it. Weaving a somewhat accurate reflection back in history with a fictional storyline made great reading. Characters were interesting and meshed well. All in all it was Avery enjoyable and entertaining read.
Timely
A very intense and well written mystery.
The story starts in 1969 in Chicago. During a building evaluation, Dalton comes across some bodies being hidden in the building. That starts Dalton’s investigation which was in the backdrop of great tensions of the times.
Very interesting story for all mystery lovers.
