Broadway hotshot Nik Kovalenko is a confirmed bachelor.Ballroom champion Jess Davenport is a bona fide Scrooge.Last year, they shared a midnight kiss at a New Year’s Eve party that made both of them believe—briefly—in the magic of the holiday season. The magic was cut short when Nik went on tour the next day, but he never stopped thinking about that kiss—or Jess. When the holidays roll back … the holidays roll back around, Nik runs into Jess again. He doesn’t want to spend another year pining for the Scrooge who got away, so he tells Jess he’ll stay if she’ll give him a shot at being her Christmas Present.
Jess thinks he’s full of it, but she agrees to three dates. If Nik can make her believe in holiday magic in a place as un-wintery as Los Angeles—and convince her that he’s ready to stick around—she’ll give him a chance. But he won’t know until New Year’s Eve. If she kisses him at midnight, he’ll have his answer…

Two thumbs up for this Dance Off Books novella by Alexis Daria! It hits all the right holiday novella notes for me. Jess and Nik are a fabulous couple. Nik’s holiday-inspired wooing of Jess swept me off my feet. Their romance is stymied by Jess’s past hurts, which Daria does a great job layering in for believability, and that makes their HEA even sweeter.
This is a perfect romance to cuddle up with on a cool winter’s evening!
4.5 stars.
This novella ticks all my boxes;
Multicultural – the Ukranian Christmas traditions rock
Dance (the lindy hop sequences are awesome)
Made me laugh
Made me cry (poor Nik)
Made me root for the hero and heroine
Romantic, creative, sexy beta hero (those dates are inventive)
Independent, loaded with personality, sexy heroine
Steamy sexy times
I really enjoyed this novella, the first book by Alexis Daria I’ve ever read. I have the first two books but haven’t had the time to read them yet. As soon as I’m done with my ARCs, I’ll pick them up. I really like her writing.
I like so many things about this book and only have a handful of minor issues:
– Nik is too perfect
– I feel that Jess’ gesture in the end is not grand enough to match everything Nik did for her
– Jess’ epiphany came too fast and so did the ending.
That’s just really nitpicking. I highly recommend this book, especially this season.
This wonderful holiday themed novella is packed with all the feels. I loved the characters and the fun way Christmas magic was woven into the story. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a holiday story that hits all the right notes.
I really enjoyed this one! Lots of emotions and lots of fun!
This was such a sweet, steamy novella. I love that Nik was pursuing Jess, and found his inner dialogue to be so sweet (causing me to wish I had a Nik waiting around the corner!). The dancing was hot and the sex was hotter–perhaps because the main characters genuinely liked each other. The angst was low and mostly stemmed from whether Nik loved her enough to stay. I don’t want to give away the HEA but, well, it is romance! *Sigh*. A fun, romantic novella for sure!
Loved this novella and the lengths the hero goes to to win her heart! The dance scenes made me swoon!
Alexis Daria’s Dance All Night: A Dance Off Holiday Novella (and part of the Dance Off series) is a sweet read. I am new to the author and really enjoyed this book. If you are looking for a holiday romance that warms your heart, you need to one-click this book.
Nik and Jess meet at a NYE party. Nik is instantly attracted to Jess and suggests that since neither has a plus one, that they kiss at midnight – even though Jess is happily munching on a bag of sour cream and onion chips (a girl I can relate to). They kiss and sparks fly. Unfortunately, Nik leaves to go on tour the next day and doesn’t see Jess for a year.
This time, Nik is playing for keeps. At the NYE party (that he attended because he assumed that Jess would be there) Nik convinces Jess to give him three dates to change her mind about Christmas and him. This is a major accomplishment as Jess is a complete Scrooge, and freely admits it.
Daria’s book is perfect for a holiday Hallmark movie lover, like myself. The dates are fun and Nik and Jess are an adorable couple surrounded by a supporting cast that adds to this fun – especially the cookie scene. I could feel the upcoming Christmas season in my heart because of the author’s amazing writing. From the snowy cold, ice skating, hot cocoa, family, friends and love – this book has it all! This is a wonderful addition to those HEA holiday romances that we love to read, especially this time of year.
