Aunt Honore is up to her old tricks, only now she’s meddling in her mysterious nephew’s life… fashionable Breakfast Party of the Season wearing a perfectly stunning Chinese silk gown, only to discover Lord St. Evert is clad in unmentionables cut from identical cloth.
Humiliating. And insufferable! Why, the devil, must he show up in fabrics Elizabeth searched so diligently to procure? To say nothing of the long hours she spent secretly stitching her creations together. He must be stopped. She is determined to spy out his perplexing game, and put an end to his interference.

It’s one of those silly books you read when you don’t want to think to much.
Fun romance with a little action.
I thoroughly enjoyed this humorous romance book by Kathleen Baldwin. Auntie Honore is a trickster who meddles in her nephews life. Elizabeth is in search of a rich husband. Sparks fly when Lord, St. Evert meets the love of his life, if he only knew it.
I look forward to reading more from this author.
It has great characters as well as funny.
I loved one of her other books, but this one was very irritating. The main guy was such a jerk and took pleasure in humiliating the heroine. Then when he seemed to regret his actions and stop doing that, he does it again. He is such a jerk. I like stories where I want the couple to get together, and I just couldn’t wish that for the heroine.
I would have given this a higher rating, but I’ve never cared for stories that turn 2 people from loathing each other into loves. But it was an entertaining read, and I really enjoyed the verbal sparing of the characters. I would have liked more details about Valen’s “other life”.
I loved this book. Very intetaining
Elizabeth and Valen’s story
In all honesty, I really preferred the first two in this series and am of the opinion that perhaps this story didn’t really belong here. I was quite disappointed in that I fully expected Aunt Honore to get up to some more of her mischievous doings and finding that she was only mentioned as if in passing to me seemed as if she didn’t really belong in the story at all. Considering the name of this series, I feel that she should have had a more prominent role.
That said, the story is still quite good and has moments of sheer wittiness and the characters are amusing and realistic.
Elizabeth is a very sharp young lady but played straight into Valen’s hand in his final proposal which I simply loved.
Please note that what I have said in my review above is my honest and unbiased opinion and others may not be of the same opinion. It is still worth a read and is quite enjoyable.
Love regency books and Kathleen Baldwin infuses humor, great characters. Into unique stories.
Kathleen Baldwin captured my heart with tender moments…and then in the very next sentence, laughing aloud with unpredictable wit or even wiping a tear! Loved the roller-coaster ride! The deepth of characters was refreshing! Write on!!!
Great read. Just made me chuckle.
Fans of Austin will love this tale.
