Dying sucks – and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows. Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things – including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. … he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden’s adopted father, a man she’s sure has sinister reasons for collecting children with abilities even weirder than hers.
But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not have been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

I love this author and most of her books as well. Unfortunately, this book was not what I expected and it just wasn’t a good match for me. The blurb of the book sounded very promising and in the beginning I really liked the book. Then something happened and I kind of lost the connection I had with the book. I did like the writing itself, but I just could not connect with the characters. The story was also pretty predictable at times. I enjoyed reading this book and it was an nice and okay read, just nothing special for me. Even though, this book is a stand alone and there is an ending, I did feel like there were a lot of loose ends. There is nothing wrong with the writing of the book itself and if you like paranormal books and can connect to the story, you’ll enjoy this book way more than I did!

I love Ember but sometimes I got so caught up on the reading that I swear I cried like a baby, there where parts of the story that broke my heart apart and I sobbed an everything. I don´t think there is enough praise that can slightly put into words how good this book is.
Ember and Hayden OMG Hayden (sight wistfully) they are perfect together both Damaged but perfect for each other. When I finished the book all I could thought was WOW!!! other than that my mind was blank. This is the best I´ve read from JLA, well maybe Deity is the best… no wait Onyx is… ARGHHH is so hard to decide wich one is my personal fav. that I´m not even going to try.
I will say this, If you guys haven´t picked a Jennifer L. Armentrout book you are missing out on the best book ever, cause no matter what book you choose to read, if it´s one of hers you can´t go wrong.
I´m rambling I know, but is just that this book was so epic, so good and perfect that I just can´t tell you something other than go guys and get it now!!!!!
The twist and turns of this book are going to leave you breathless and tight with emotion all at the same time.
Please don´t hesitate just go and buy it right now. =D
I’m reading all things JLA in 2020 and I really enjoyed this one. I do feel like there was a lot of lose ends that need tied up a bit, but I am happy with the HFN ending. Hayden reminded me of some of JLAs other book boyfriends but it is nice to know he is the original. Ember was so broken but also stronger than she thought. I am glad we got explanation but I see a lot of other series in this book. It was kind of fun to go back and read the beginning towards the end so I could see where some ideas had come from.

Review:
I wasn’t really sure whether I would like this book. I’m not that into YA anymore. But being the big JLA fan that I am I just had to read it and I’m glad I did.
What is this book about:
This book is about Ember. Ember isn’t your typical highschool girl. She is covered in scars and well technically she should be dead. She was in a car accident that should have killed her but somehow her little sister brought her back. Sadly it killed her father. After Embers accident she found out she had a rather odd gift, every living thing she touches with her bare hands..dies. Not very practical.
After her fathers accident, her mother totally checked out. She went in a catatonic state and never came back out, so it’s up to Amber to take care of her sister.
One day Amber and her sister get taken. A man that kind of manages a house for kids with abilities took her so they can help her. There she meets Hayden.
Hayden is a guy she would totally go for, he’s kind, caring and very hot. And for some reason Amber can touch him for a small amount of time. What can possibly go wrong……
What did I like/love about this book:
I liked that this book really kept the mystery going. I don’t remember thinking that the story was predictable in any way. It kept you on your toes.
It was thrilling and very sweet. I enjoyed watching Amber and Hayden grow closer together.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and I would definitely read it again.
