RETURNING TO TELEVISION AS AN ALL-NEW MINISERIES ON FOX Cosmos is one of the bestselling science books of all time. In clear-eyed prose, Sagan reveals a jewel-like blue world inhabited by a life form that is just beginning to discover its own identity and to venture into the vast ocean of space. Cosmos retraces the fourteen billion years of cosmic evolution that have transformed matter into … have transformed matter into consciousness, exploring such topics as the origin of life, the human brain, Egyptian hieroglyphics, spacecraft missions, the death of the Sun, the evolution of galaxies, and the forces and individuals who helped to shape modern science.

I miss Mr Sagan! He was a true scientist. Unfortunately he had a flaw…. No belief in intelligent design (God Almighty) I don’t understand his lack of intelligence in this arena but still a great man and author. He must have been very surprised on “the other side” when he came face to face with his Creator!
Poetic, song to the wonders of the universe and the insignificance of man as we see the earth where we live as a blue dot from space lost in vastness of of space. The only home we have and the imperative of taking care of it.
Expand your horizons and change your perspective with this classic from Carl Sagan!
Dated but a good primer re science.
I read this book a very long time. The book stayed with me for a long, long time.
Carl Sagan is and was one of the great cosmologist and astrophysicist of all time.
Even three-plus decades later it is still very relevant and informative. Even though we have had new discoveries, they in no way diminish the original book, and in fact support many of the theories originally outlined. Cosmos introduced astrophysics to the common person, that no book, movie, or TV program has ever really duplicated. Sagan, wrote so that most anyone could understand the universe and how we relate to it.
One of my all time favorite books. The TV series was informative but not as good as the book.
The book that came from a TV series that set the course for the exploration of the cosmos. Carl Sagan changed us all by brining us closer to the magnificence of the cosmos.
Onee of the best real science books I know of.
Loved it. Sagan had a knack for explaining the cosmos and our place in it in terms a layman could grasp. A must read for any intelligent person interested in learning. He was the best ever.
Entertaining and educational. Sagan had a talent for translating complex science concepts into digestible bites for us non-geniuses.
Read it for an astronomy class in colege the first time..Twenty five years latter and my favorite quote is still from this book. “The doors to heaven and hell are adjacent and identical.”
Great explanation of science and science history, written for the average person.
Breathtaking…
