He can’t have her. And he can’t tell anyone why.
Ski racer Dane “Danger” Hollister does not do relationships, though he keeps his reason a secret. The real-life curse he’s inherited from his mother will eventually cost him everything: his place on the Olympic ski team, his endorsement income, and his ability to fly downhill at top speed.
Reluctant country girl Willow Reade meets Dane by … Willow Reade meets Dane by accident. Literally. Her skidding truck forces him off the road during a blizzard. Stranded together in his Jeep as night falls, the two loneliest people in Vermont find themselves sharing more than they’d planned. And not just conversation.
Yet neither can guess how their unlikely tryst will threaten Dane’s frightening secret and Willow’s tentative peace with her own choices. Only mutual trust and understanding can end their pain and give them a hard won shot at love.

This book had it all. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I loved it. It made me laugh, cry and had a HEA. It was first book I’d read by this author. I loved it
Free-spirited Willow and her chicken farming is instantly likeable, and sexy, brooding, pro-skier Dane has so much baggage you want to reach out and hug him.
I absolutely loved the characters in this book
This was the first book of Ms. Bowen’s I’ve read, and I like her writing style.
The characters are well-developed, the secondary characters are just as lovable–and who doesn’t want to see some closure between a man who basically had a death sentence cast upon him since the day he was born? The emotions of these characters were poignant, and I loved every minute of the story.
I love everything Sarina Bowen has ever written. She’s an extraordinary storyteller and a talented writer, and she proves it time and time again with every new book. This one is certainly not new—it’s basically an oldie—but it’s wonderful all the same.
There are so many things I love about Sarina Bowen’s writing. Her words are magic, and I always feel them deep in my soul. Every single time. She’s gifted in so many ways, but my favorite is her ability to make me laugh and cry at the same time.
I love the way she has of telling a story, and how much I actually care about her characters—as if they’re friends I’ve known forever. I want to move to the Vermont she brings to life in my mind and never leave. I love how her characters are sweet and hot, but also feel like real people with real feelings and flaws and problems.
This book is part of a three book series but each one is a complete standalone. And all of them are not only beautiful, but heartbreaking, soulful and emotional and so, so good.
Coming In From the Cold is a beautiful story about love and loss. Dane Hollister and Willow Reade are two wounded souls that find each other in an extraordinary situation—two strangers stranded together in a snowstorm—and form an immediate connection. Their chemistry is off-the-charts explosive and the attraction between them is overpowering, so of course they end up sharing more than just conversation.
Dane is hiding a secret, a life-defining circumstance that prevents him from living his life to the fullest and pursuing a relationship with Willow—or anyone else in his life. Willow has been abandoned by her boyfriend in a difficult situation, with no money and in a strange place, lonely but determined to make the best of it. They part ways after the storm, but life brings them together again in a way that forces Dane to confront his secret, but also threatens to break them apart forever.
Instant attraction is usually complicated because most of the time it feels forced and shallow. I like that in this particular story that’s not the case at all. Both Dane and Willow have depth and evolve as the story progresses, and their back stories provide explanations for their feelings and actions. The instant attraction thing is a brilliant way to bring these two together, but it’s not the defining aspect of the story.
Coming In From The Cold is really emotional, heartbreaking at times, and really worth reading. One thing I admire about Sarina Bowen is the way she doesn’t shy away from complicated subjects but faces them straight on, and this book is no exception. I recommend this book, and series, to anyone who loves romance, great writing and meaningful stories.
Lovely story about a skier with a family history of Huntington’s who has watched his family degenerate and pass away. Dane has spent his life not wanting relationships or children because of this. One snowy night he meets Willow, who he then tries to forget. However, fate has other plans for them. A sweet journey to their HEA.
Another great story from sarina bowen.
What I love about Mrs. Bowen is that she fully develops her characters. I thought that the actions of each of the characters were realistic. Enjoyable read.
Loved the plot, the characters, and the storyline.
I really liked this book. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading it.
I enjoyed this book though it’s beginning was the somewhat predictable snowstorm scene. The plot does, however, evolve and there are some interesting plot developments that keep the reader interested. An enjoyable read.
Serena writes the best books about “real” people. Easy to read (but clearly written by a pro and well-edited). Great characters who are flawed but interesting. Perfect cozy winter read.
Good read
Dane’s background and story was one of the most devastating I’ve read in a long time. This story was one heartbreak after another but ended with hope.
Short and sweet listen for me. Dane and Willow had a connection from the beginning. But then he behaved poorly (with good reason in his mind). I can understand his reasoning but cant be happy with how he handed everything. He didn’t have an easy life dealing with his brother’s and mother’s illness but he was a bit harsh. Willow was strong though even having her own tough background. It got to a point where it became a bit predictable so it’s not to much of a spoiler to say I was happy with the ending. Sarina Bowen’s stories always make me smile.
Coming in from the Cold is kinda filled with cliches. Dane and Willow meet during a storm, have a one night stand. Willow ends up pregnant and Dane has to get over his demons and stop pushing her away. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed this book as a quick sexy, steamy, romantic read. I do like Sarina Bowen’s writing and stories. It hit the spot when I looking for something quick and romantic to read.
slow plot
Definite must read !
This book was easy to read. I didn’t have to read half the book to get to the plot of the book. Although, it was still short to me. I would have liked to read a little further into the main characters of the book.
