Stopping an assassination isn’t enough. Kiriai threw herself in front of a poisoned blade to protect her boss and earned the official title of scrapper, a lifelong dream. But, it’s all worthless when she’s forced to stand on her doorstep, powerless to stop burb ’forcers as they whisk her grandfather, a renowned healer, away. She’ll do anything to get him back. Her most powerful allies can’t help … powerful allies can’t help her, especially when a deadly plague descends on their world and sends everyone into a panic. With official channels blocked, Kiriai knows there is only one way to reunite her family and stop the plague: start a one-woman rebellion.
What can one junior scrapper do against a powerful chief in a distant burb? This time, Kiriai fights against a foe who uses political power to tip the scales. Fiercely loyal, Kiriai’s crew follow her lead, determined to do whatever it takes to win her grandfather’s freedom. His healing skills are the only way to stop the plague and save the lives of everyone they love.

Combat Outbreak (World of Combat Dystopia Book 3) by Misty Zaugg is an awesome story that I have loved reading. This is book number three in this awesome series that I loved and I highly recommend this to everyone.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I have to admit I kind of binged all the World of Combat books and really enjoyed this one, much like the second one we continue to see the world view grow as more and more revelations are made. More then just the growth of her martial skill, the world becomes more fascinating seen through the eyes of a budding adult and we learn more and more the intricacies of how the political factions shape the world (and of course lots of fighting and training, cause it’s an action dystopia series). I’m also adoring the AI Trainer more and more.
I received an ARC for an objective review. But honestly I plan to buy the books once I figure out how to on my kindle, I adore them and the author is worth the support.
This is an amazing, and compelling series that I was pulled into immediately and could not put down. Kiariai is an outstanding character. The entire series is wonderful and I can hardly wait for the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a fantastic read. This pulled me right in the start to finish. Kiriai to me is quite the heroine. She goes through alot. This read had me on the edge of my seat. I love reads that the Author really brings out the scenes to where it feels like your actually there watching the story. There are twists and turns. This is definitely a 5 star read to me. I definitely recommend this read.

This has been my favorite of the series so far!!! I am loving these characters and I look forward to seeing where they go from here. You can tell these books are well thought out. And the covers are pretty amazing too 🙂
Kiriai is a strong, young fighter (scrapper), and watching her character develop in this third book is fascinating. In “Outbreak” there’s a good balance of fighting and introspection, and I felt like I got to know Kiriai better as she opened up more. The plot is fast-paced, with surprising twists, and well written. I’m really looking forward to book 4!

Kiriai’s grandfather has been forcibly and permanently moved to a different neighborhood due to Jaaku’s treachery (will someone please take him out?!). She embarks on a fierce campaign to bring him back, not just because he’s her only family, but also because his intervention may be the only way to stop their neighborhood from depopulation by the plague (which sounds like a simple but brutal norovirus).
The plague and its treatment with isolation of the ill is sobering. The recent scattered cases of measles and public/media reaction has echoes of this iso protocol.
I’m still not convinced that Sento is the right boyfriend for her, but I’m sure having fun seeing how their relationship is going!
Yabban (the Artificial Intelligence linked to Kiriai) gains autonomy and “her” terrible puns are a hilarious counterpoint. What will happen if Yabban can connect to the mainframe?
This is an excellent book with lots of action. Great world and characters.
**** SPOILER ALERT ****
Zaugg gives the readers another fine story set in the “Combat” Universe. I started reading this of a morning, and regretted it, cos it was a a work day and I had to stop reading to work. I kept wondering what was going to happen next. It was torture!
he author continues to world build and develop the characters that are the readers have come to love… and hate.
Second Jaaku attempts to take revenge on Kiriai by “promoting” Ojisan to the Southern burbs. Robbing Jitaku ‘hood of his vital services just as plague outbreak starts.
Can Kiriai find a way to bring her Grandfather home, not just for her benefit, but to save the Jitaku ‘zens from the plague ravaging the ‘hood?
Grab this book and find out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can hardly wait to read Zaugg’s next installment.
