I really enjoyed the premise, but there were just so many characters and beings to keep track of, and so much grim action, that it never seemed to let up. Pretty decent characters, some who get killed off.
It was a lengthy journey but intriguing.
A world that no one today would want to live in, you will have to read it to understand.
The survival struggle is on non stop, and the odds are too bad, no really the odds are too bad. The main character interestingly is flawed which means relationships don’t go smoothly either. In short it is an adrenalin filled yarn, where you end up cheering for the good guys.
This was edge of my seat from the first page!
A completely new take on the end of the world storyline.
Very exciting and well written
I was unhappy when I finished. Very original and great characters.
Interesting read but too violent for my taste.
I enjoyed the story. It was one of those “coulda happened”. If you like post apocalyptic stories, you would like this one. Better than most I’ve read,
Enjoyed the trilogy. Well paced good characters.
I was on the fence consciously, during the first 50 pages or so…but then I found myself being unable to put the book down for long.
Burning Sands is not your average, everyday scifi book. In fact, it doesn’t really follow any strict rules during the story. You begin thinking the story is about one thing, only later finding it includes something else. Frankly, the story is on the bizarre side, with elements of mystery and suspense sprinkled throughout
I do have to say I liked the trilogy, and would certainly recommend it to any who like to dabble in the unexpected…
Good story line. Different take on apocalyptic futures. Really liked alot of the characters, especially the main character Reginald. Just don’t like them too much ! Kept my interest with lots of twists. Just kind of gory.
The series kept me intrigued and I was interested in finding out how the story would end.
This trilogy started off slow and not too interesting. Then we’ll into the first book the storyline had developed enough that it had my interest. I was honestly going to not read the other two books but but by the end of book one I was hooked. The next two books really changed up the threats and made putting them down difficult. If you can get through the first half of book one you won’t be sorry.
The premise of genetically alter humans trying to survive on a dying planet with humans who bring in their old world biases and ethics to deal with them creates intriguing story telling.
I haven’t finished the book yet, but it’s well written. I would recommend it to anyone.
Forget zombies! These post-apocalyptic tale has a different bent. From the twisted experiments of an experimental military program to the devastation an international misunderstanding left behind and a politics-plagued space-race put on hold, to the social intrigues of mixed-species interaction, this trilogy has it covered. Followed one man’s journey from rude awakening to unlikely survivor in the harsh landscape of a twisted post-war world and its bitter political divides.
No need for 3 book series.
The idea was kind of cool but also lagged in parts….i couldn’t decide whether to quit or keep reading – i’ve made it through 2.5 of the books but not sure i’ll make it to the end.
Story line kind of just kept weirder and weirder without really explaining anything until you get into 2nd and 3rd books.
Author must have mommy/daddy issues because all the main protagonists constantly have flashbacks to poor parenting moments..this got old for me – i mean really, every one of them?
Very sluggish storyline. Too repetitive. It’s easy to get bored and skip ahead to find more interesting passages.
Overall these books were enjoyable to read. The story is decent and the pace is fast. I did find that the pace was a little too fast for me. Characters were hastily described and oversimplified (shallow). I found it hard to visualize the different settings described in the book especially when it came to the action scenes. It felt like every time the author described a location it would change to suit the scene rather than remain constant. It also felt like the author was in a hurry when he wrote the books, that or a lot was cut out. Despite these shortcomings it was still a page turner and found myself hesitating to put it down.
