What would a world without colors look like? Well in Broken World by Grace Templeton we get a little taste of what that may be like and the effect it can have on the human psyche. I was so impressed with how this book unfolded a wonderful plot and story with inspirational and eye-opening moments galore. This is the first in the Chasing Roy. G. Biv series from Templeton and my very first experience reading anything from her. This cover grasped my eyes and drew me in well before I even got to the synopsis and I was never left wanting more until the end… when I needed to have more of this story!
In a new twist on a dystopian world we are plunged into the world of Rose Thomas. She is among those that are limited to the colors they get to see. It takes finding ones soulmate to unlock the colors of the rainbow, so to speak. Throw in the twists and turns, like having a time limit set on when you must find this soulmate and Rose’s time frame fading fast to find the one that will unlock her heart and her world of color. Even bigger twists are to come when Rose has feelings for not one, not two, or even three, but SEVEN different people. What will happen and who will she pick? Will she be forced to choose one or none or will she get a chance to love each person of the seven for the reasons she feels drawn to them.
I loved that this was different and set itself out above and beyond, the typical dystopian sci-fi young adult novels that we have been seeing a lot of lately. I can’t wait to see what will come next in this series!
Broken World (Chasing Roy G. Biv Book 1) by Grace Templeton is a very unique book. Ms. Templeton has a different way of engaging the reader. She is a huge imagination. There are ups and downs like a roller coaster ride. The story is slow but it picks up speed once you are introduced to the colors and the characters who represents the colors. Amy is an artist and she can see only 5 colors. Amy is a person who is not comfortable with other people and she is a Fragment. She can feel those around her but is only interested in her art and comic book. Time is running out for Amy and she needs to move before she has to pay the ultimate price.
Broken World (Chasing Roy G. Biv) by Grace Templeton was an interesting story.
Rose and the people in this world do not see certain colors and they won’t until hey find their soulmate. Soulmates bring color to their lives. But Rose, she has multiple soulmates, meaning it takes her a long time to see the rainbow. There was a lot of different things happening in this story. Though it was not difficult to understand, at times it was a little much. Each character has their own unique personalities and the author does a wonderful job of describing them. The part of the book that really got me was that there is a time limit on finding your soulmates. Some individuals have a hard time finding one, will Rose be able to find all of hers? I’m excited to see where the author takes the story next!
Broken World by Grace Templeton is the first book in her Chasing Roy G. Biv series. A clever and unique story this will certainly have you hooked.
Imagine only being able to see certain colours. And the only way to unlock the missing colours is to meet your soulmate.
Imagine to then not be able to see any colours at all in this strange world. That is what Rose experiences. And the only way to unlock her kissing colours is to meet more than one soulmate. Something she has never thought to do. Instead she is focused on writing her comic book – something a bit difficult when you can’t see the colours.
Will Rose be able to find her soulmates? Or will she forever be destined to see barely any colours at all?
I really loved the whole idea of this book, right from the moment I read the blurb. I was intrigued and loved that I didn’t have a clue how the story would go. The writing gripped me immediately and I really enjoyed getting to know Rose. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Imagine being an artist who could only see a few colours. We get to explore that concept, and much more, in this original story. ‘Chasing Roy G. Biv’ is the first book in the Broken Worlds series by Grace Templeton. An intriguing title for an interesting and unique book. This is a dystopian story that has some sci-fi elements, fantasy, drama, good world building, and well-crafted characters.
This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Templeton, and I was curious about it, because of its unusual title- I needed to know what it meant/was about. I was drawn into the complex story, which had quite a lot going on in it. While, for the most part, the story was easy to follow- there were parts that were quite ‘busy’ and just a little confusing.
Rose Thomas lives in a world where seeing all the colours of the spectrum is not a birthright. All the people here can only see limited colours- to be able to see more, they need to find their soulmate, who will enable them to see and complete their full colour range. But, there is a time limit for finding their soulmate- so, if they haven’t found one by the time they turn thirty, they are then ‘eliminated’.
Rose is an art student, who despite her handicap, manages quite well. She also works part time in the gift shop at the art museum. She hasn’t connected to anyone yet- and at twenty-one, her time to do so is diminishing. Quite unexpectedly she is drawn to not just one person, but seven other people. This is where the story gets interesting.
As this is the first book in the series, I am intrigued by where the author will take the story in the second book.
Thank you, Ms. Templeton!
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. It is a unique story about Rose and her friends. What makes it unique is that they can’t see colors. As they meet their soul mates, it brings color to their lives. Rose has more then one soulmate but will she find them? I enjoyed how this author was able to bring this story to life for me. The characters were relateable and connectable. I highly recommend this book.
Broken World (Chasing Roy G. Biv Book 1) by Grace Templeton is a four star novel. What first drove me to this book was it’s wonderful play on words in the title. I have read a lot of books over my life span and I love when an author can really draw me into a book by either its title or cover. This book will engage your mind about politics and people who are different than you in a playful manner. I love how these heavy topics can be brought up and talked about in a way that can keep people from arguing. In this made up world, people are missing colors in their vision. The only way to make these colors happen is to find their soulmate. Rose on the other hand is a Fragment, which means she is missing most colors and has multiple soul mates. In a big city, the pull to find the soul mates sometimes makes her crazy because she cannot figure out which way to go. Being an artist is also very difficult because of the colors she doesn’t see. Maybe, eventually, she will be able to find her soul mates to return her colors but even still being as shy as she is might be difficult to make these connections. She hasn’t made any connections with people in her entire life. It seems impossible but the alternative is not ok with her either.
Broken World by Grace Templeton is the first book in the Chasing Roy G. Biv series. The novel is an interesting concept of the idea of missing a part of yourself. People here are missing at least one color from their vision. Some are missing more colors and are labeled a fragment such as the main character Rose. She has never put finding her soulmate as a priority because she has always been interested in her art. Her dilemma is that as a fragment she doesn’t have to find one soulmate but several. The concept is good and the characters are interesting. There was a lot of character introductions but a necessary evil in Rose’s search for her soulmates. I will be interested where the story goes in the upcoming books.
When I started reading this book I was unsure about how I was going to like it. As the story grow I began to love it! It was meaningful and interesting. I love how this story is so different from what I have read before. It’s a love story to me, but the love to me is something different. The author did such a great job with this book! I couldn’t put the book down, I had to see what happened next! Please pick up a copy and check out such a wonderful story!
OY G BIV stands for the colors of the rainbow (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo & Violet). Broken World (Chasing Roy G Biv) is about people looking for their soulmates to complete their rainbow.
Honestly, this book could be a look at the political environment of today. Some classes are considered ‘less than’ and everyone is looking to find their Nirvana. Nirvana to some is finding their soulmate who has a color that they are lacking. One never knows when their soulmate will arrive and some people have multiple soulmates (poly relationships?).
I enjoyed the concept of this book. The fact that we are all searching for something and, in a sense, judging everyone else is a common condition of the human spirit. To see an artist get her colors back, a wayward son become “whole” again, a cop to be healed, etc. was so nice to read.
An interesting side note. For some reason, the version of the book that I read was missing the second L in all words that contained 2 Ls. Al the time I was total y wondering al about fol owing someone’s footsteps without real y knowing what they are going through and THEN I thought… Ohhhh it’s like the missing “L” You know it’s supposed to be there, and look right over it because it’s missing and you know it’s not going to appear.
I look forward to reading the rest of these stories to find out if everyone gets their rainbow.
Broken World (Chasing Roy G. Biv Book 1) by Grace Templeton follows the story of Rose Thomas, a woman living in a world where everyone is missing the ability to see at least one color until they meet their soulmate. Rose however is a Fragment, someone that is missing several colors in her case. Now she is being pulled in several directions at once and all she honestly wants to do is work on her comic book. Unfortunately there is a deadline fast approaching and time is running out. I enjoyed this book. The plot was unique and entertaining. The characters were well written even if it did seem to take a while for them all to make an appearance. I’m giving this book a four star rating and look forward to seeing where these characters go from here.
Broken World- Grace Templeton
5-star review
Broken World by Grace Templeton is a must read! It’s the first book in the Chasing Roy G. Biv series, this storyline peaked my interest form the very first chapter. I have never read anything like this which is why this book has made it on my list of favourites. I loved everything about this book, from the completely original storyline, the many main characters and all of the intricate details, it all made it so easy to picture everything playing out in my mind.
From the very beginning I was so captivated I ended up reading it in one sitting as I got so caught up in the story that I forgot about the real world. Even though there were many POV’s I found it very easy to follow along and with no confusion. I really enjoyed how all of the separate stories were all interconnected, it made for a really entertaining read. This is a book that I can see myself reading over and over, I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. I can’t wait to read book 2 to follow along with this amazing story!
Very interesting and unexpected read. I enjoyed this book and the way it explored brokenness. It held my attention and kept me wanting to find out what would happen next. I was captivated by the book summary and the book itself did not disappoint. I look forward to reading again to pick up on things I might have missed the first time.

This was such an interesting and unique read – something out of my comfort zone however I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not usually one to take notice of covers but between that and the blurb I was really intrigued to read this story and I really do recommend it as a great read. This is my first read of this authors work and I absolutely can’t wait to read more. Her attention to detail was fantastic; her characters were intricate and well thought out. I liked all of the different POV’s and didn’t find it confusing at all. I loved how everything connected together well and this definitely added to the great flow of the book. I really liked Rose and enjoyed reading her story of looking for her soul mate so that she could finally see in colour!
An interesting, intriguing and enjoyable read! I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

The story Broken World (Chasing Roy G. Biv Book 1) by Grace Templeton is a new adult/fantasy book. This is the first story that I have read by the author and I truly enjoyed it. The storyline hooks you in from the very beginning and had me lost in its pages. I didn’t want to put it down until it had finished. One of the reasons that I enjoyed the story so much are the characters. I loved reading about each character’s background. Their personalities jump off the page. Each one has their own unique quality about them. They are characters that you can get behind and root for them to succeed both personally and as a group. You also read how the characters have doubts about themselves and have to deal with how others judge and treat them. This is a story that speaks to the subject of equality and how society treats those who are different. There are times when I felt anger at what Fragments have to go through. I felt sad that these wonderful characters face severe consequences in their lives through no fault of their own. Will Rose and the other characters find their soulmates? This is a book that has plenty of detail and had my emotions going up and down the entire time I read. It is well-written and will have you turning pages to find out what happens next. It is the first book in a series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
OMG! THIS BOOK has me wanting to read more. The idea that came from this amazing author of Broken World by Grace Templeton is unique. I am a fan of stories that are unique when it comes to the structure of the characters and you will not be disappointed in this. She has created a world, unlike one you have seen before and ran with it. So I do not spoil much I will say I love how the characters were intertwined in the story. You see how each individual is different, and how at first it appears they do not belong together since they do appear remarkably different. But as you go along you start rooting for them all. You FALL in love with them. What an amazing story and concept. Cant wait to read more from this author.

Broken World (Chasing Roy G Biv Book 1)

Rated 4 stars
This started out as a book I couldn’t wait to read. I thought this idea was amazing. As the story went on it became more confusing. There were just so many characters to follow. I can understand why there are so many but learning about and knowing each ones lives was too much for me. Each character was brought seamlessly to the story so that isn’t an issue.
The idea was brilliant. People only seeing one color until they found their soulmates. (Genius!)They felt a pull then needed to make eye contact, speak, and touch to the other person(s). Then their world became full of color. I can not imagine not being able to see my eye or hair or food colors. So weird! I can see why some of the characters were so despondent. Living without hope. It was interesting how they kept jobs that had to do with things of color.
One of the issues that confused me was if these fragments knew what it took to find their soulmate. Why did they not do the requirements? Many times someone wore gloves or didn’t make eye contact. I would be doing all the above looking for my soulmates.
Love the title!! Such a cool idea! I was confused by the title until I read the book. Now it all makes sense!

To live in a world without color is cruel. Rose has a secret and its one not to be shared. This world the author created is so different but also the same. Everyone has a soulmate and once you find yours you begin to see colors. Then there are fragments people who see only black and white and have multiple soul mates. The government is trying to deal with fragments and its not pretty. I didn’t see why the government wanted fragments gone. They don’t hurt people. I was glad I picked up this book. The author did a great job bringing the characters to life and giving understandable and colorful details lol. I felt sad for Rose how do you find your special someone in such a big world? A group of friends looking to save other fragments and knock some sense into the world that fragments are not a threat or an issue. I really liked how different this story was. Not everyday someone tells you that in order to see color you need to find your soul mate by touch, eye contact and talking. With how much people rely on tech in todays world it would be hard to find your soulmate.

Broken World is the first book in the Chasing Roy G. Big series by Grace Templeton. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Templeton, but definitely won’t be the last. This book’s plot line is very unusual, and had me hooked from the first page to the last. The premise of this book is the characters in the story must find their soulmate in order to see colors. Most people are missing one color and when they find their Soulmate the character see’s their missing color, however some people are fragments and they only see one or two colors and must find 7-10 soulmates to see the spectrum of colors. They must do this before they turn thirty or face neutralization which is certain death. This is such an intriguing idea and I can’t wait to see where the author will take the concept to in future books.
