In Wyoming, a little girl reads people’s darkest secrets by the way they fold their arms. In New York, a man sensing patterns in the stock market racks up $300 billion. In Chicago, a woman can go invisible by being where no one is looking. They’re called “brilliants,” and since 1980, one percent of people have been born this way. Nick Cooper is among them; a federal agent, Cooper has gifts … rendering him exceptional at hunting terrorists. His latest target may be the most dangerous man alive, a brilliant drenched in blood and intent on provoking civil war. But to catch him, Cooper will have to violate everything he believes in — and betray his own kind.
From Marcus Sakey, “a modern master of suspense” (Chicago Sun-Times) and “one of our best storytellers” (Michael Connelly), comes an adventure that’s at once breakneck thriller and shrewd social commentary; a gripping tale of a world fundamentally different and yet horrifyingly similar to our own, where being born gifted can be a terrible curse.

Wow is this book good. It’s the first in a trilogy and if you read this one, you won’t be able to get your hands on the next two fast enough. One of my all time favorite series. Can’t believe it hasn’t been turned into a movie yet!
Very seldom do I overly excited about a book. Excited, yes, but overly excited seldom.
This book left me wanting more and I mean right now. It was amazing in the plot and how it was constructed. Nearly flawless in the way you are drawn into the story as it unfolds.
The best fiction mirrors reality in some way, and this one delivers with a …
Alex cross meets Harry Dresden in this Good Cop going after Bad Guys tale. Definitely recommend this to you when you’re in the mood for a detective story with a pinch of X-Men salt on top.
This is a very good book. It’s an entertaining read and Markus keeps you in the story with great characters and world-building to boot. I was always eager to …
The Brillance trilogy is a page turner and original.
People born with additional abilities “gifts” outside the norm are called Brillants. Some are mathematical savants, some can read people’s body language, and some have gifts that allows them to move undetected to name a few gifts.
Of course there is a faction that wants to eliminate them and …
Great series
This is the first book that I have read by this author and it is the first of a series. I liked it so well I bought the two other books in the series. The second one is good as well!!
Brilliant! (*sigh*)
Yes, yes, I’m probably the 3,000th reviewer to go with that particular play on words. It is, nonetheless, true. The main character is likable yet flawed – he has a superhuman skill, but he’s still just a man. The author’s writing style – sharp, concise, yet highly descriptive, painting vivid, fulsome environments with an …
This was definitely a page turner.Did not want to put it down. Very entertaining! Loved this book. First of the trilogy. They were all great.
Raises interesting questions about how people tend to distrust anyone who is different. i liked the character and the way the story unfolded. Will read next book in series..
Very different! A real page turner.
I read this book a few years ago. I gave it a 4.5 star rating. It is a good dystopian novel.
