This book was Logan and Kate’s story. Its was excellent just like the other 2 books. This book was a definite pager turner and hard to put down just like the others. Break had me sucked in emotionally. I laughed some, cried in other spots and was sitting at the edge of my seat at the end. I have struggled with addiction and understood some of what was up with Logan. Im glad Kate stuck it out till the end. I thought I had the murderer pinpointed. I was very wrong and saddened by who the killer was. Another great book in this series.
Ok…. where to start. Logan, Logan, Logan what can I say I really wanted to stick my size 8 up your a$$ a few different times. Kaitlyn sweet sweet Kaitlyn so innocent and have I told you sweet. There are some misunderstandings and an alpha male who has to pull his head out of his ass and make up for being an idiot. I’m glad he can work through his issues and prove to Kaitlyn that she is worth everything to him. There is heartache, love, and a twist that had me guessing until the very end. Now I’m off to 1 click the next one in the series.
Caring outside the workplace
Logan was such a loveable character in the first couple of books. But why is he now being so contrary? Real-life situation that a number of people can relate to. Kaitlyn moves away and that is an incentive to get help. There are hurdles to oversome, not to mention a new threat in a new place. LOL never believe the obvious! Climatic ending with an HEA.
I loved the little bit I learned about Logan from the other two books. But, it was great to finally read his story and to see where his feels for Kaitlyn was going to go. And how they were going to get together and how they would be able to work through the things that haunted them from their past. This is a another great book by Jennifer Vester.
Break is absolutely my favorite book in the Lakefield series so far. The constant sexual tension, horrifying mystery, and overbearing stubborn alpha, and equally independent woman make for the perfect blend of literary magic. I love Kaitlyn and Logan’s love story!
Logan was a surprise to me. He ad been such a cheerful guy in the first book so it was hard to see him struggle. His story was harder than the others, but Kate was a good match. This series just keeps impressing me.
I really liked Logan from the previous books and was hoping he’d get to meet his match and have his HEA. I thought Kate was lovely in the last book, and loved the idea of a pairing with Logan. Logan’s character wasn’t what I was expecting in this book. He was just as alpha as the others in his story, but there’s something else to him that threw me. I still love Logan and Kate as a pair, but this book threw me for a loop.
I like this series, and this book was no exception. Kate and Logan had great chemistry. I enjoyed the interaction between them for the most part, though they both did things that made me shake my head. The last 10% of the book was full of action and danger, and I was very upset about what happened with one character in particular. I thought the story ended pretty abruptly after that. However, I enjoyed the book very much overall, and I was satisfied with the direction Logan and Kate’s relationship was heading.
Loved this twisty journey of Kate and Logan. Lots happening in this story, and one best left to read without spoilers!!!
Loving this series!!
AWESOMENESS!!! BREAK was Funny, Sexy and Sarcastically Sassy!! I Loved Kaitlyn and Dr. Logan’s story from the Very beginning and Wonder WHERE you would Ventured to throughout the book. They definitely have some Sexual Chemistry that was off the Charts and their Banter is Hilarious!! Then throw some meddling family members and friends that keep you page turning which you didn’t wanna put down! This is the Second Book from Jennifer Vester that I have read and will continue reading her books!! No Spoilers because this Book is Beautifully written and it has All the Feels you can ask for and then some!! A MUST READ BOOK!!
Kaitlyn (Kate) is a physical therapist’s assistant and has a crush on Dr. Logan Matthews. Yet she is never sure where she stands with him and his hot and cold behavior that is making her confused. Yet when she is kicked out of her house by her Uncle Richard he is there to give her a place to live.
Dr. Logan Matthews has his own personal demons from his past and he is overcoming an injury from an explosion that left him burned. He is very possessive when it comes to Kate yet he doesn’t believe he is good enough for her and pushes her away every time she gets close.
Will Logan be able to conquer his own demons before he loses Kate and will he be able to straighten himself out in time before he loses her completely?
This was such a great book and I truly love this series!
I thought Kate was such a good character who was struggling after losing her place to live. I was hoping that they would revisit that a little and see if her uncle had shady dealings and maybe they will in the future. She had so much bad luck in a row and I was crossing my fingers that things would turn around for her.
I loved Logan from previous books and so I was confused by his behaviour but gradually everything began to fall into place and come clear. I was so happy for what was revealed and how Cade helped Logan get everything straightened out and get Logan healthy again.
One of my favorite things was the text messages between Logan and Kate and they made me laugh so hard! I loved the playful side of Logan and it was so much fun to read!
I understood Kate’s reason for leaving and I was glad that Brock was able to keep an eye on her and you knew eventually Logan would show up. I thought this Logan was so dedicated to proving to Kate that he was ready for her.
I was so blindsided by the revelation at the end!! Loved it!
I can’t wait for more in this series!
Solid 4 star read!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
As “Break” was my first book by Jennifer Vester and as I didn’t even know about the blurb, I literally dove in blind. I love the idea of giving a book and a new author to me a chance without any expectations.
And my courage was rewarded: wonderful love story with easy lovable characters. The story shows in a really nice ways that it’s totally ok to have faults, no matter if physical or emotional. And that we shouldn’t judge ourselves for it nor should we judge others. Nobody is perfect and everybody carries his own luggage.
The story starts playfully as the two main characters seem they can’t stand one another. With mostly blunt encounters they act almost funny around the other which made me smile a lot. Their attraction was not only obvious to their friends but to me as reader as well, what made those interactions even more comically.
But when things drastically and unexpectedly change for Kate, so changes their relationship. Even though Logan is still mostly the dominant alpha around Kate, he apparently actually really cares about her.
The chemistry between Kate and Logan is perfectly developed and perceptible.
As good as things seem to evolve between Kate and Logan it was expectable that something was yet to blow off.
With a broken heart Kate seeks the distance and Logan help. At this point I would have loved to read more about Logan’s real problem and how he dealt with it.
Kate’s sudden take off throws Logan off guard and he finally understands that he needs help and to change becoming the man Kate deserves.
A long the way Kate finds a way back to herself. And I love the fact, that both of them made the right decision, giving the other the space needed. Even though I knew, Logan would be devastated over losing Kate and looking for her fanatically.
The other characters which already have been introduced in the first two books of this series (which I yet have to read) are funny easy to love, even though they only appear shortly. Except for Andie, but her book is yet to come.
However, their short appearance made me curious and I’m now looking forward reading the first two books soon.
The story has a nice and steady flow, some twists and turns, which are mostly predictable. This is the only thing that kept me from giving this book 5 stars.
Jennifer Vester’s writing style is really captivating and she knows how to keep your eyes clued to the pages.
“…, but recognizing that when unlucky or bad things happened, sometimes it led to things that were better.”
This is the third book in the series and I loved it just as much as the other two. It was a little bit different, not as much humor. Logan wasn’t dealing with his scars from the explosion to well. Kate really liked Logan but he didnt want to date. Eventually he goes away for 4 weeks and comes back with a clear head only to find out, Kate left. I loved the chemistry between these two. It was hot, steamy, & at times funny. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This series has become one of my favorites!
I really loved getting Logan and Kate’s story. I wish i had Kate’s way of looking at life. I will have to try to be more like her.I hope we get more books on this series.
Kate has a crush on Logan, the doctor at the clinic she works at. But he can’t seem to stand being around her. It hurts so much that she is contemplating getting a new job. Suddenly she is homeless and doesn’t want to impose on friends. So she sleeps in her car and advertises at work that she is available for housekeeping. Logan sees her sleeping in her car and can’t stand the thought of something happening to her. He offers her a job and that is when things go off the rails. Will Kate ever find happiness and will Logan ever admit that he loves her?
Man, Break literally broke my heart. Kate is such a sweetheart and deserves happiness. It takes a lot of courage on her part to handle things the way she did. Logan hid how bad things were for him so deep that it almost destroys him and Kate. This book took my addiction to Jennifer Vester’s writing into full on obsession! I cannot wait to dig into Chase! I cannot recommend the Lakefield series enough, they are amazing reads!
This book holds it all. Love, Murder, laughter, and parts that will make you afraid, because it could really happen. I loved how the author took a couple that really had enough going on in their life’s but made them figure it out and march forward no matter what. Some parts are tough others you want to hold your tummy from laughing. Its a great story and one I really enjoyed.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review….
I had a crush on Logan in the first 2 books, strong, patient, understanding, loyal, and hot as heck. Kate is sweet, naive, trusting, and vulnerable. In book 3, he and Kate are great characters, well written, both vulnerable but strong. Each book in this series leads into the next, so while they could be read as standalones, but there would be catching up to do. I loved this book and this just might be my favorite. This series is sooooo binge worthy.
I have been really enjoying this series and this book was no exception. I like that it showed a different type of character for Logan. Yes he was still a hot bossy alpha but I enjoyed seeing a vulnerability due to his insecurities about his scars and the addiction problems he faced.
I felt the slow burn of this book worked well in the beginning however the ending seemed a bit abrupt. Literally a few pages from the end, one of the main secondary characters from all 3 books is killed and all it warrants is a few sentences.
Another bugbear of mine, in any book is a woman acting surprised when she gets told she is pregnant. You have had unprotected sex and have been throwing up every morning for a week…did it not even cross your mind? Really? Especially when in this case she works in a Drs office.
All in all an enjoyable read. I highly recommend this series.
This is a really enjoyable read not too heavy going but with plenty to keep it interesting. I adore Kate even though she appears to have a truly innocent personality she has some steel within her. At first I wasn’t keen on Logan, which was a surprise as I really liked him in the previous books, however he did grow on me as the story developed. I am really enjoying this series and am eager for more.
Break was a first read for me by this author. I loved that I was laughing out loud, but at the same time felt for Kate. About half way through the book, I was wondering where the plot was going, and how it was going to be drawn out, but to my surprise it flew by and I was at the end. I will be checking out the other books by this author.
