enjoyed!!
This book is about a bumbling scottish witch and a very rigid duke. It is a wonderful telling of how we sometimes don’t know what we want or appreciate what we do until it’s gone. I absolutely adored “Scottish”
To hard to get into it
Absolutely loved this book! One of my top ten favorites of all time! I will read this book again!
Quite long, but for a few places early in the book there’s not too much extra. The struggles to change a lifetime of indoctrination are well displayed here, by more than one character. Wonderful story.
This was a fun exciting read. Joyous is a very bad witch. She just can’t control her powers. I just couldn’t stop laughing at the crazy stuff she got herself into.
Love this book!
The characters are real. A few every day issues and a royal raised without feelings. It’s really fun to watch the story unfold.
Don’t miss this one.
Just finished Bewitching by Jill Barnett. Think Bewitched meets Emma meets the Bronte sister’s. The book easily could have ended at 3 various points and the tale would be none the worse for it. Still Barnett carries on until each social ill and prejudice has been zapped away (gets a bit preachy teachey if you ask me). Great character …
In some ways a 4 star with a sweetly innocent heroine, touches of magic and fantasy, more lyrical writing than usual, fun secondary characters, but it just misses the mark for me. Part of the problem is the rigid and cold Duke, yes ANOTHER Duke, despite his insta-attraction to the heroine and besottedness can not set aside the hidebound strictures …
It’s exactly what happens to the Duke of Belmore on one fateful winter day. The uninvited green-eyed and mink-haired guest in question is no other than Joyous Fiona MacQuarrie, an adorable as much as bungling sorceress from Scotland, mis-landed, and thus misplaced on Belmore’s ducal lap and coach, thanks to a botched spell of her own doing …
This book had me giggling, it was an enjoyable read with a touch of magic. I would recommend this book you won’t be able to put it down.
My favorite new author!! I really loved this book, the storyline is different, loved the characters and several times laughed out loud.
I laughed and cried. Love it immensely.
I couldn’t quite finish the book because the word warlock kept throwing me off.
Loved it! Watching the transformation of the characters was inspiring!
Absolutely emotional rollercoaster. Would recommend a million times. Loved it!
I am bewitched!
This was such a delightful story and I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I cannot recommend it enough!
The characters are amazing, the plot is brilliant, the romancing really romantic and it reads easily and like a dream.
This author is new to me but I will definitely be reading more from her.
One man’s world view turned upside down by a bit of a girl. Sweet comedy of errors turns to romance with a junior witch. I kept visualizing those campy effects in those 30’s and 40’s films like Topper or Blith Spirit!
Just boring. Couldn’t finish it.
This book was soooo fun to read. Although Whimsy is at full gallop the minute you begin to read, I found the all of novel’s characters mannerisms and actions very believable. Barnett does a wonderful job of keeping historical details intact, without dragging down the pace of the action.
The clever epigrams, most from Shakespeare’s MACBETH, were …
