This is the third book in the series and it was a lot of set up to what is coming which I think is going to be pretty exciting. Worth the read.
I am still loving this series, though I admit to being confused as to Jess’s plan up until the very end. In fact, I’m still a little confused as to what is going on and what he thinks he will accomplish.
I love Wolfe and Santi’s relationship. I also love how they are with the “kids” in the story. It’s a good team going on. The dynamics are interesting and easy to get you pulled into the story and the little band of rebels.
For fans of libraries and reading and knowledge, this is the series we never knew we wanted or needed. I’m so impressed with Caine’s creativity. Definitely an author to add to your “read everything she writes” list! I also love the playlists that she’s included in every book I’ve read by her so far. Any author’s reading this? This is the coolest thing EVER!
I need to get to my own library soon so I can check out book number 4!
Thankfully this isn’t reality, because I couldn’t live without books!! I loved this book. Once again, Rachel Caine has managed to make us all look at the Library as public enemy #1. It’s the heart stopping, mind numbing, gut wrenching, breath stealing emotional roller coaster ride of impending war against the Great Library as Jess moves the chess pieces into play with only key players of even his inside group knowing anything. This book, this series really, is among the most unique I’ve ever read and I cannot wait for the next book. It’s gonna be epic.
This is such an amazing series. This is book 3 – and the Library’s rebels are in the thick of it more than ever… If you’re not familiar with the series, you should really investigate – especially if you like books about books. In a nutshell, it’s some miscellaneous time that is probably the future but not in a sci-fi futuristic way – in a throwback, mysterious tech+magic, steampunk-adjacent way. The Great Library (yes, Alexandria) controls all books and information, and people can only read Blanks – a digital-magical format that basically downloads what you want to read from the available original held in one of the Library’s locations around the world. There is a thriving black market (enter Jess, the main protagonist, whose family is the leading smuggler crew), Burners who think books are more important than people (the Library regularly sacrifices people in the name of saving books), and a growing crowd of rebels (cue Jess and his friends) who think that the control is the problem and are trying to bring about a revolution from within and without. It’s an incredibly intricate and fascinating world and I really can’t say enough good things about the series – Book 3 was just as detailed, suspenseful, surprising, and impossible to put down as the earlier two volumes…
