NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR, ELLE CASEY, brings readers Book 1 of 4 in the YA Dystopian APOCALYPSIS Series, suitable for older teens and adults.
KAHAYATLE. My name’s Bryn Mathis. I’m seventeen years old, and I live in a neighborhood outside of Orlando, Florida. I live alone because my dad died almost a year ago, along with all the other adults in the world. I’m almost out of … other adults in the world. I’m almost out of food and the gangs of kids that roam around my town are getting more vicious by the day. It’s time for me to leave and find another place to live… a place where I can find food and shelter… a place where they won’t be able to find me. Alone, it might have been possible, but now I’ve got company. I’m worried that I don’t have what it takes to get from here to my final destination, and I have no idea what might be waiting for me when I get there.
Content Warning: Mild violence and some foul language. Meant for older Young Adult readers (age 15+). This book is in the Dark Science Fiction / Horror / Post-Apocalyptic genres, featuring teen characters only.

Although I normally don’t read dystopian novels, this one free so I read it. Surprisingly, it was intriguing and well-written. The characters are interesting, and the author does a good job “thinking like a teenager” as she develops them. I think young adults/teens would especially enjoy this novel.
Kahayatle (Apocalypsis Book 1) by Elle Casey
This was a little different from the usual post-apocalyptical novels. I liked it, a lot, which was unusual for me since there were gays in the book. The author tastefully added it into the book and it worked well. It doesn’t have to be an in-your-face, stuff it down your throat, vulgar subject.
There was a virus that affected all of the adults and young children. They all died, in the first wave. Just the adolescents were left to try to figure out how to live a life.
Bryn, Peter, and Bodo find each other and decide to travel together and look out for one another.
I’ll be looking into Book 2 in this series.
A very very interesting take on the Apocalypse. The characters are great and the writing is very expressive. I enjoyed this book very much and if you want a really good read you should give this one a try.
Enjoyed it ! Can’t wait for payday so I can start book 2!
Seriously one of my top favorite series. The characters are genuine and the writing is splendid. Reading this book, you are in every scene with the characters. The storytelling is wonderful and I learned a thing or two about a beautiful culture. Well done. Read this series!
I liked this book enough to buy the rest of the series. I like the characters. Some of the story gets really, really sad and really, really gory. I like the indigenous people and the fact that it takes place among the tribes in the swamps of Florida.
Spunky teen heroine with comic relief sidekicks, and a dog for cuteness factor. Filled with Action and partly mixed with horror genre. The title says it all.
it was ok
Ends fast be prepared for book 2
If you like End-of-the-world books this will probably be a good choice.
I was surprised how much I liked this book. It was so different from other post-apocalyptic books. Usually they are dark and disturbing, or rather predictable and the same old same old. This one however was different. There are difficult and dark things happening but the humor is a great balance. There were places where I had to laugh out loud. I really enjoyed reading it to the point it was difficult for me to put down.
I got sucked into the story! Ordinarily, I just read the free first book in a series but this had me ordering each follow-up volume until I had read them all and wanted more. The basic premise of the story is sufficiently plausible that I could see things happening just as written. I was rather attached to both the heroine and Winky and was NOT happy with the way things turned out for Winky. I had hoped that Bodo would be a better man than he apparently was, but was satisfied with the way things turned out. (No real spoilers here.) You won’t be disappointed!
I really enjoyed the reading this book and couldn’t wait to read the next ones in the series. The author brought the characters to life and added humor to the seriousness of their situations.
It’s building on me. I’m definitely going to read the next book.
It kept me reading for the action. The characters were decent and the horror was hard to buy into. It definitely kept me reading as it Is a page turner but I won’t be finishing the series.
Couldn’t put it down! Packed with action and danger at every page turn.
Couldn’t stop reading. Hooked from the beginning. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
This was a great story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Good read
A end of the world book with a sense of humor.
