Another Life is a story of love. Cole’s love for his beautiful wife Grace and their, as yet, unborn daughter. And love, although of a different kind, for his band and the adoring fans who follow them.
When circumstances beyond his control changes the path their lives together takes, Cole struggles to embrace his new normal!
Knowing and loving his innocent daughter the way he is forced to, is just not how things were supposed to go for this rockstar and his family.
KL Shandwick has created a story of love, loss, guilt and finally acceptance, in this, the newest addition to her list of publications, and what an addition it is!
I highly recommend joining Cole, his band SinaMen, and the important people in his life as they tour the world in search of ‘Another Life’.
However, the journey is at times full of love and hope but yet, at others, self destruction and despair. So make sure you have a ready supply of tissues because you’ll be compelled to continue reading despite the tears!
Heartbreakingly beautiful.
This is a feels book, you know the kind. One that you feel everything the characters do deeply. I cried, oh boy did I cry. I’m not talking a few tears here and there, oh no I flat out balled, snot and all. I cried for love lost and love found.
Coke and Harper are both wonderful characters who my heart broke for them both. Little Layla was a joy and yes she would crack me up. This is a great love lost and new beginnings found book and I absolutely loved loved it.

Oh my, sniff sniff… What a journey this book takes you on. Cole is handed the most precious gift in one breath and the worst possible fate in the next.
Watching this larger than life Rockstar go from the high of the end of a tour to being a single father of a precious little girl while trying to deal with the tragic loss all at the same time. The journey through grief, love and acceptance, with many bumps and bruises along the way throughout the years. Recreating his life around his daughter and trying to keep the impact of his fame from her the best he can. Then slowly step by step we watch Cole climb from his despair and work towards a life Grace would want him to have.
The very important secondary characters who help Cole through the book are all there for him and will do everything necessary to help him and his daughter. Each person draws you a little further into the book.
Will Cole ever be ready to truly but his past to rest and accept the life he has been given? Will he find that someone to bring the steady beat and excitement back to his heart? Can he have his HEA without Grace?
Grab your box of tissues and hang on for an emotional ride you will be glad to have read.

The first word which came to mind when I read Another Life was impassioned. It is so full of intense emotions that at times it took my breath away. This is a slow burn, and there’s a definite feel of one step forward, two steps back as Cole tries to come to terms with a whole new and unexpected life.
These characters are by no means perfect and there were times when I wanted to shake Cole for the decisions he made and they way he reacted. However, the choices he made, although they didn’t come easy, were genuine and his vulnerability was real and raw. His anguish made for difficult reading at times and tissues were certainly needed. His daughter Layla is a sweetheart. A gorgeous little scene stealer, her innocent remarks had me in fits. Feisty and determined, I thought her character was written perfectly.
There was a warmth to Harper that just drew me to her. She’s strong, the glue that holds everyone together when all they want to do is fall apart. Her humour had me chuckling and was a welcome distraction at times. I can honestly say I loved everything about her. She’s wonderfully caring, a selfless young woman who attempts to heal this tortured man with determination and kindness. Their story takes time to unfold and it’s great to see them both grow and develop over the course of the book. Beautifully written, you feel everything these two are going through and are there wanting to cheer them on.
Another Life is not only heartbreaking and emotional but it’s also heartwarming. Filled with love, strength and hope for the future. A promise that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
This author is a new to me as this is the first book I have read by her and she takes you on an emotional roller coaster. If this is how all of her books are I can’t believe I have waited so long to read her! Fair warning: have your tissues handy. This author is so detail oriented it draws you into the story just like you are another character along for the ride. Colt has it all one moment and then it vanished in the blink of an eye. Out of darkness comes a light in the form of little Layla. I can’t recommend this book enough!! I am patiently waiting (not) for the next adventure this author takes me on!
WARNING – must have Kleenex to read this book. From the opening pages to the very last chapter I was on an emotional roller coaster that made me ugly cry. A heart wrenching storyline and beautifully written characters make this book a masterpiece. This book will stay with you long after you finish it. 5 stars are not enough!! This is my first time reading K.L. Shandwick and it will not be my last.
Covers don’t normally mean that much to me but there are a few covers out there that steal your heart and Another Life is definitely one of them, I fell in love with the cover and I fell in love with the book. I have no other words apart from I was captivated as I joined Cole Harkin’s journey, this story blew me away, it broke my heart and then it put me back together again…….
Cole a famous rockstar who was on top of the world until his world came crashing down around him and this book is him trying to rebuild his life……..
This author is so very talented and everyone of her books has you feeling part of the story or in this case journey, Another Life is a story that will stay with me long after I finished that last line and it’s a book I will go back and re read because I’m sure I will get even more out of this beautifully written journey next time around. This book is certainly going to be on my best reads of 2019 and it’s a must read for every romance lover out there but please make sure you have the time to finish what you start ( you won’t want to put this book down) and a box of tissues close by. This is K.L. Shandwick at her best !!!!!
This book will stay with me for a long time. It really touched me because of the nature of the events that happened. It’s touching and it will definitely make your heart hurt for this individual who goes through some very rough patches in his life and the journey to where he needs to get to bring up his daughter.
What do you do when your life is turned upside down from one minute to the next? You think you have everything at top of the world, and the next it comes crumbling down. This is what happened to Cole and from the beginning of the book to the end, it will grip you and tug your heart so hard that you will not even realize when it has stopped gripping to that extend and has loosened up from the relief of what happens at the end.
K.L. Sandwick did such an amazing job with this book and I can guarantee you that you will have tears flowing, heartbreak and feel sorrow, so much sorrow. But everything happens for a reason and only god can decide our fate. Whether we like what he brings us or not, we have to accept what life brings us, we have to accept the challenges that are brought to us and embrace it and that’s exactly what Cole did.
I cannot express how much this book has touched me.
This book get 4.5 stars
5 star review of Another Life by K.L. Shandwick
OMG where do I begin? I fell in love with this cover and when I read the blurb I knew that this was going to be an amazing read. Just how much it would impact on me I had no idea.
Another Life has taken me on a journey that I haven’t recovered from as yet; this was one heck of an emotional roller coaster of a read.
Cole Harkin is a shattered man, the best time of his life is also the worst time of his life. His grief is overwhelming, the devastation, pain and anguish palpable. He spirals out of control using alcohol to escape.
This book resonated with me to the bottom of my soul, perhaps because both my parents died before I was 13. I freely admit I sobbed my heart out throughout this book, not only with sorrow but also with joy.
The relationship between Cole and Layla is so special. It was wonderful to see Cole slowly come back to life and I think Harper was the right person for him to finally move forward with. I loved them together and never have I cheered so much for a couple to get a happily ever after.
Another Life is beautifully written, the writing strong and realistic and I was completely captivated by the story that KL Shandwick wove.
This book is one of the best I have read and will stay with me for a long time.
